Hmmmm. So is it possible to buy the Iphone 4s here new in stores still? And it would NOT have iOS6 already? And how does 4s work with sim card - can I just take my etisalat prepaid sim out of my Nokia and pop it in? Or do I need to buy a new one to link it to the monthly pay-as-you-go / data plan? Sorry for all the daft questions, never had a smart phone before! TIA! I bought my I phone 4s last week and no IO6 isnt installed You need to cut your sim down to a small sim to use i phone the key cutting booths can do this

I'm a new mom and planning our trip back to Dubai when our little one will be almost 5 weeks old. I would be grateful for some tips from more experienced moms as to how to navigate the trip while feeding her formula. The flights themselves are not long (one of 40 mins and one of 4,5 hours) but with airport waits before the flights am a bit concerned as to how we'll manage. And what to bring with me, as I'm assuming I won't be allowed to carry water or pre-prepared formula with me past security. In your experience is it generally feasible finding hot water at airports? And do you carry the formula (dry) in your sterilized bottle? We're flying Emirates business so I assume we won't have a problem getting water on the flight. Any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated, just the thought of it all stresses me out!!! many thanks in advance I would ring Emirates CS and ask, my understanding is that you can bring it through in certain quantities however will be made to taste it and you wouldn't have any problems getting water in economy either <em>edited by louisedvs on 24/09/2012</em>

The last I know a few months ago was it is open from 7am to 9pm if you mean the Tasjeel Al Barsha. The Tasjeel is where you register/MOT your car the one next to it is the police station that registers your licence. They are 2 separate buildings with 2 different timings Yes I explained that below when I realised it was for a driving license not a vehicle "[i'>Yes its near the vehicles testing centre, for driving licence you go to the police station which is on the left just before you reach the Tasjeel vehicle test area. I have renewed my driving licence there without ID recently. I am not sure of the exact opening hours of the police station but would think it should be open as early as the vehicle test centre at least. [/i'>" oops i need to read post properly apologies!

I have a 4s paid 3100 with 12 months warranty Wouldnt buy the 5 as you need a nano sim which isnt available here yet ( Apparently you can do a DIY job on a regular sim though lol) I pay 145 pay as you go through Etisilat and get FB, Whats App and Emails ( I dont use it alot though for the above) I mainly use it for I tunes and photos

Is that the one just before SZR...where the vehicle testing centre is? I'm sure you've all heard of 'Chinese Whispers'. I like to abide by the law and would just like to know what the 'Law' say's in writing rather than rely on someone else's perspective and what they've heard or read in the paper. Common sense really!! You will probably be given conflicted advice from the government offices. Some may say yes others no, although if it is legal why would they fine a couple for employing one that wasnt sponsored by them? I have always been told it was illegal as they are sponsored and aren't to work for anyone else.

Water in Dubai does NOT cause hair loss, and will all of you saying that it does place provide the evidence for this. Female hairloss although common is not normal and should diagnosed and treated by an expert, not someone that saw an ad and bought some snake oil potion... I can bring my hair to show you. I lose alot here and have done for years so yes it must have something to do with the water/climate here as i dont lose hardly any when i go home. I wonder why so many posters complain of the same thing here though :-) coincidence?

I've bought one tablet from cobone last week as the offer was so tempting. But to my shocking surprise, it doesn’t work properly. The earphone doesn't fit the tablet as well and it was so poorly made. There is no doubt it was made in China. And When I charge it gets toooo hot. It doesn’t have USB/flash supporter as advertised. I got so upset and tried to contact the customer service by email and by phone but nobody gives proper answer and actually they get angry even talking to me and telling me to talk to the supplier... they advertise Genuine-ity but what i got was a poor poor tablet... is it not safe to buy Electronics from cobone? edited by bennen8 on 23/09/2012 try emailing omardotabuomaratcobonedotcom I have emailed him when had problems in the past and he was very helpful Never used them for electronics sorry

Hey guys, I have a 20 month old that just started nursery, and I have a 3 month old. I really want to start doing something with myself workwise.... Now I have more time with my eldest going to nursery, I was wondering if anyone knows of any work at home jobs like data entry/typing/admin? I have looked on google but I tend to keep finding this dodgy scam data entry companies.... If anyone could offer any advice I really would be grateful. We use it for everything except drinking. I would use it for making tea although DH says he doesn't like the taste although he only notices the taste if he knows I've used tap water. I am the same, if i make a brew with it i can taste the difference I use it for cooking though

I recently got a sample of it in shade # 4 which is darker than my skintone, but I thought of giving it a try anyway. I love the texture! The smoothest 'foundation' ever. But I find that it has a pinkish undertone. Does anyone know if there are any yellow undertone shades in this line? Apparently they only sell it at Paris Gallery Dubai Mall and I haven't had the time to go there. TIA! Try Googling Armani makeup they may give you all the shades I have never used it sorry

Mmm, have read that in the news but have also read that it's a 'Draft Law' and until the Ministry signs off on it then it's not legally binding. We need clarification on this, does any EW have this in writing from the Ministry?? I wonder what proportion of EW forum readers have PT maids and are not aware of the rules?? Comments ladies..... You'd have to have your head buried in the sand to be an EW forum reader and not realise PT maids are illegal. It's been done to death. I have no idea about it being a draft law but there must be some law and it must be binding in order for people who are caught to be fined. I remember when maids working PT became illegal, it was 2007 possibly. It has been illegal for a few years i remember GN reporting a story about a maid that stole thousands from a family and when they reported her to the police they got a 50,000AED fine as she wasn't sponsored by them ( By another family) I wouldnt let my maid work for somewhere else as she wouldnt be covered it anything went wrong. My employer wouldnt allow me to work elsewhere either

I have medication sent to Dubai from the UK, I order from a website called pharmadoctor dot co dot uk. They send Royal Mail registered and are usually checked by customs (well, every time my package arrives, it has tape saying it has been opened and checked), as long as it is not restricted, banned or illegal :\: it should be fine. HTH I have posted stuff from the UK and it has always got through, never been checked either although it is legal stuff

You would like to think a Female would never do that to another Female. I have heard it all now! That bus case in the UK gives me the horrors. It also beggars belief that not a single one of (12?) other passengers on the bus offered her the 20p. I know and the i hope the driver gets hit by his own karma bus!

I see that she is outraged and many folk are 'disgusted' at the newspapers, but I feel that she needs to take some responsibility for her own actions here. Different rules apply to the royal family and no matter how private that villa was, there was always a chance of sneaky pictures getting taken. She would have been surrounded by security personal, royal advisers, and domestic staff at the chateau and I wouldn't take my b00bies out in front of folk like that, even in my own home. In this case everyone seems to be shooting the messengers and pointing fingers in all directions. So is she meant to change under a towel in her wardrobe forever for fear of a long lens pointing into her house? Just because she's a royal doesn't mean the press own her. Yes absolutely, no more parading around with all on display, go change in the bedroom with the curtains drawn - how simple is that! Once a royal, you have to give up the 'common' privileges of life!! That's a step too far don't you think? She was in a private house at her pool I believe, so she should be assured of privacy in her "own house". What's the next step going to be? Very invasive what the press did and very disrespectful. I agree, she was hardly parading around. It is almost peeping tomish which is creepy. What kind of weirdo would want to take topless photos?. It is digusting and they should be arrested. Whilst i appreciate they are Royals they should have the the same amount of privacy given to them as we do But I think you have to expect that when you are one of the most famous women in the world. They have unimaginable privilege but they have to realise they are a target everywhere at all times. I wouldn't take my top off in public, so she was just courting trouble. She wasnt in public though, hardly walking down the high street

And yes, a woman doing that to another woman is unbelievable, I am sure a male driver never would leave a woman on her own in the streets at night. In the UK i have picked girls up walking alone in the dark and dropped them home as they have spent their taxi fares or were drunk! It happened mainly in the village where i lived so i knew i was safe. I would never leave someone in a strange place in the day let alone the night.

Bourjois blushes are great, and Laura Mercier face primer is amazing!! Sephora Liner and pencil are really good too..and they come in fab colors! I think the OP is on a budget Bourjois is expensive in Dubai No more so than Maybelline or Rimmel or other 'pharmacy' brands I think? I used to really cheap kohl (about 5dhs a pack) in Sharjah which was fantastic stuff, stayed put and was really black. Then found out it contained high levels of gunpowder lol :\: and it got banned! Rimmel is cheaper than the other two not by a great deal but a saving at least Gunpower OMG!

Can I ask why you don't like JVT? I am considering a move for some of those reasons you note below. What don't you like about it? I don't know anyone living there so would appreciate the good, the bad and the ugly about the place :) I went to visit a friend there last week and unfortunately none of the taxi drivers knew the location. Eventually i found one that did. It is signposted on Emirates Road however once inside the street signs are a bit tricky. Their villa was huge and lovely although there arent any amenities at present, pools, shops, there is a gas station close to their villa. There are alot of electricity pylons as we were sat in the garden and i asked what the lights in the sky were and they said lights on the pylons for low flying helicopters. It was very quiet and nice there. They are paying 110 for a 2 bed with an enormous garden. Thanks for the feedback. I do like the size of the villas and the gardens there. Shame about the amenities but I would top up gas and do shopping before I get home from work so not a huge problem for me. I think all the white goods are included too

I've had mainly bad experience with taxis here. A lot of them are rude and don't know where anything is. Once I got a taxi from JLT to Palm Jumeirah and the driver did not know the way. It appeared that he couldn't read either as I showed him the signposts on SZR and asked him to look out for them and it should be easy to follow then but he still kept on asking "where now Ma'm". I've only lived here for a few months and I haven't been driving here so I have to rely on taxis. I also find that they are ungrateful for the tips. Most of them say nothing. I would expect some manners- a little "thank you" can't hurt can it? I said to my husband that we should stop tipping the ones that are rude or don't know the way. Tipping should encourage them to be more professional. We've also had problems ordering large taxis. The standard comment from the taxi centre appears to be "no big taxis available" or we can send you two taxis. Two taxis would be useless when you actually need a large one to transport a larger item from the shop. They have only been in Dubai for 2 days most probably. I blame whoever trains them as they should know the roads before they are allowed to drive on them The amount of drivers i have directed to areas i want to go is unbelievable

Nordique, order a Ladies' Taxi, they are usually a minivan type... though not sure if you can do this with DH or only if you are alone/with kids only Don't use the one that constantly drives in the fast lane on SZR with her mobile glued to her ear! I made a complaint against her as she refused to hang up!

I have been in 3 incidents which revolve around the same problem, extremely poor customer service ! Can Dubai Taxi please train their drivers on this topic in particular ? Because their drivers can be really rude at times. For me as a customer, its not my problem if i wish to go to Baniyas square where there's a bit of traffic and its nearly the end of their driver's shift (why did he even stop for me? so i suppose thats a lie and he was picking and choosing the destination he wishes to drive to). Its also not my problem when my car breaks down at the mall while i had my two kids and 20 Carrefour bags and their driver was unhappy with the fact that the trip is only 10 Dhs worth (so he expects me to push my Carrefour trolley with my two kids in the heat and walk home while 7 months pregnant? Really?). And finally its not my problem when i return their driver's missed call and he talks to me in disgust and finally hangs up when im not even done talking .. Dubai taxi, please teach your drivers some manners ! its not like we are getting any free rides! With regards to finishing their shift, it is true. They share their taxi with another drivers, so if this driver extends his working time, the other driver will loose out on business. This is why many drivers at a certain time won't accept a ride if it's far away or not on their way to where they end their shift. Doesn't make it right to be rude of course. its actually illegal for them to stop and then refuse a fair. Not sure if that's the case if they are about to end their duty. It's illegal - full stop. If they stop, they cannot refuse the fair. Ah ok, makes sense. If they can't take a ride, they should not stop at all. I am not defending them as i have had my fair share of rude taxi drivers, however one told me that if they are late back after their shift they get fined!!! Well that's I thought, but then what Ishehere says then they shouldn't stop to begin with. I suppose they are trying to achieve their target for the day however don't know how short or far the fare is on the way back and and cannot ask. I am not defending them but they aren't treated the best

Not all UK citizens pay tax but I believe they can retire back to the UK (as long they haven't [i'>avoided[/i'> paying tax of course.). I don't know whether they could collect a pension if they haven't paid National Insurance contributions and I also don't think property possession would automatically entitled a person to a visa. I'm no expert though :) We let anyone in, give them a house and benefits lol

A pathetic, miserable, disappointing, annoying 0.1kg loss. I know a loss is better than a gain but I stupidly weighed myself midweek and had lost 0.4kg, so I am gutted. Omg, I know what you mean. I weighed midweek and it was looking great, then KFC entered the premises on Thurs night and whipped up a bit of mayhem. I did lose 1.6 but this 2nd week is not being so kind to me. I bought a box (yes boXXXX) of Galaxy Bubbles in C4, and they are about 8 syns each......but it is hard to not eat the whole lot of them. Watch the programs about the kinds of chicken they use at KFC and i promise you will never eat their again!! That may help :-)

I would suggest she does her CIPD rather than Masters in HR first. CIPD is highly regarded as the best qualification to have when entering into HR, especially in countries outside of the UAE. http://www.cipd.co.uk/ UAE HR professionals, are not so 'professional', IMHO Agree

Have you tried snacking on pickles? Works for me when I feel munchy. Hang in there. Hunger is a good sign that your metabolism is cranking IMO! Think hunger=fat leaving the body :D Alot of the time we think we are hungry but actually thirsty.

Been to ted Morgan twice (palm branch). Would say first cut was very good, second time, different stylist, not so good. Just come back from uk though and brought back a thoroughly rubbish cut, which I had fixed supposedly but still not good. Gonna try salon ink now that it's bit nearer as have heard nothing but great reports. Excited but have to wait until British "style" grown out. Salon Ink fab :-)
