I thought if they had a contract then they should get a gratuity. Every other employee under the labour law receive one. Isn't a maid the same? Labour Law does not include domestic servants (maids/drivers), they have neither the rights nor responsibilities in it. Oh i see, they should though in my opinion

Hi ladies, I am looking to buy a brand new car - directly from the showroom. I test drove lots and decided on these 2..they are sporty, sleek and have a nice young feel and are good as brands. I know that Japanese brands are better in terms of cost, but as I am buying straight from the showroom, [b'>I hope that I wont have any issues with the car for the first few years and if so, the regular service and maintenence will cover[/b'>? [b'>Is anyone driving one of these 2 cars and can advise me on any pros and cons[/b'>..pls bear in mind that Im not buying 2nd hand so I assume there will be less added costs? If any of you own one, or did in the past in Dubai or know anyone, please please help me out..any input will be appreciated. Thank you so much. I have a VW ( Not a Scirroco) and to be honest they are extremely reliable and i have had no problems with the one i purchased from Al Naboodah in 2008. I had a 3 year warranty and my service bills were never very high. The only downside is that the service centre is in Rashidiya and i live in the Greens. Once the 3 year warranty was up i renewed again for 3 years. VW run for forever ( i have had several over the years) I also get free breakdown cover through Al Naboodah which is renewed every year with my insurance. I always buy German :-)

Ladies, need to choose between them. I have asian, highly oily ,pimple prone skin. which of these wud u suggest based on experience? ur recommendations are highly valued. Thanks I have very red, dry skin and can only use Dermologica. All the regular shop bought brands make my skin worse and i have been advised against using them Dermologica do a travel kit which isnt so expensive and i am sure there is one for oily skin that you can try

Yes, I am... My DB is contracted to AD A r m y. They were told to send their families home, register with their embassies, withdraw their cash from bank accounts and change it into USD, and to have a grab bag ready (passports, photos, jewellery etc) - nothing more than you could carry onto a plane.... So are most of my friends and they haven't been told this?

We've been in a Springs 2 bed for 2 years now. Utilities is all one bill - DEWA (Electricity, Water, Sewerage and Municipality Housing fee if you get lumbered with that) Ours is 250aed in winter - 900aed in summer. We have fake grass in the garden so don't have big water bills, and don't pay a housing fee. I believe this is worked out as 5% of your annual rent over the course of a year?? Maybe someone can clarify. Internet and TV - 450/month mid range package Gardener - we also pay 200/month DEWA deposit i believe was 2000aed?? You will also need a deposit for the TV box but we did ours 8 years ago so i have no idea what it was! Around 500 i think? Landlord security/damages deposit is 5% of your annual rent. Housing is 5% of annual rent. Not everyone gets caught for it though. Luck of the draw i suppose :-)

So do you watch everything on your computer? or do you connect your laptop to the TV and watch it that....infact can someone explain how that works.. I wish I knew about the sling box option before I came out here. infact can you email me elkaiduk at gmail dot com and let me know a few details, i.e name of software etc... so perhaps a friend can help me out back in UK ...new season homeland starts September !!! and I need to keep up with Games of Thrones !! No on the citizenship Chocs. property owner visas have to be re-applied for every 2-3 years I believe like all other visas, there is no lifetime visa thingy. Although there is one case isn't there, a lady who has lived here all her life. There was an article about her in the papers once, an older lady. Didn't she live in Abu Dhabi and was attached to the Royal family there. Her late Husband was linked to the embassy i think

Why are so many women knocking the book? Is it because they actually really enjoyed it, got a 'kick' out of it but feel embarrassed or wrong by doing so? Just accept it for what it is. It is soft p0rn for women. It is not meant to be a piece of literary art work, nor is it trying to be. Just as we all loved watching Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing Top Gun etc. it's a bit of escapism and nothing more. Relax ladies..... Like :-)

Ashley Cole played that penalty too smoothly, rooney didnt deliver either and Italy had an average team themselves otherwise the game would not have gone on so long. We would have been owned well before 90 mins. Will we ever get past quarter final/semi final stage in ANY tournament? Germany would of hammered us..Dock their pay i say.

Its going to be a month since I lost my job. Been applying everywhere no reply. I'm on my wits end. Getting towards depression. :( Everyone states I have good experience and everything but I have not yet got even a single interview :( Losing hope and getting cranky It is probably one of the worst times of the year to look for work. The kids break up soon and it will be the Holy month of Ramadan shortly You have to keep ploughing at it. When i moved here years ago it took me 3 months to find a good role and things were far easier then. Tailor your CV to suit the roles. I don't mean create experience when you do not have any however if you are sending your CV for roles via an agency make sure you forward your CV for roles that you match all experience for. Recruiters are screening hundreds of CV's daily and will only contact candidates who match the role. Most agencies work on the client side therefore they have to wait until they recevie a suitable role. Some can spec your CV over it all depends upon their relationship with the client. Dubai is all about networking. Good Luck!

well, if you have enough hours of your life left that you're happy to waste a few on this cr@p, lucky for you but you might like to read this blog first !!! :D http://cassandraparkin.wordpress.com/2012/05/29/adventures-in-trash-fifty-things-that-annoy-me-about-fifty-shades-of-grey/ I am going to read these just so I know what other people are talking about (and because they are steamy!) but I've only heard negative things about the books from critics so I'm not getting my hopes up. I am on book 2 and enjoying it. Wouldn't the world be a boring place if everyone liked and disliked the same things? Easy read, who cares if it isn't well written. Good luck to the author she has become very famous and millions are reading or have read them :-) edited by louisedvs on 25/06/2012

Hello my friends, I have my first interview in Doha and am not sure what to expect, I will be interviewed by the Head of Department and the HR Manager. From your experiences, are the interviews as formal and professional as interviews in London? do they ask you about marital status, number of children etc (something which is not supposed to be asked in the UK as could lead to discrimination). Sorry, am a quite rusty as have not been interviewed for a very long time and left a job which I really enjoyed! ! Thank you so much again for your words of wisdom. S:( It is swings and roundabouts in the Middle East. Some companies are very thorough, others less formal so it all depends on the company etc They can pretty much ask what they want ( I used to work in recruitment) Discrimination laws do not really apply here.

As for the hospital in emergencies drive to City Hospital as recommended earlier. What helped me adjusting to the heat in my first year was only early morning activity, as little as possible in/out climate changes over the day as these are exhausting for the body and if you have the time spend two or three days in a row in a beach club somewhere with a lot of sunblocker under a shadow umbrella and all you do there is three days surviving the heattorture, not moving if any possible, asking a servant to bring liters of water. after three days you will be way better with the heat. If you feel its going to be worse again repeat the heattorture in the shadow over a weekend. worked wonders for me the first year. A servant lol? I thought the Royal families only employed servants :-)

I don't know if it's the same in the UK but in NZ and OZ you have to be legally separated for two years before you can get a divorce. So legal separation means that you are separated but still married, a divorce or marriage dissolution is the legal ending of the marriage. I am from the UK and had to wait 2 years ( then we both had to agree to the divorce) The only way i could do it within 2 years was either due to adultery or unreasonable behaviour ( Needed alot of proof for those two things) Perhaps things have changed now?

Thank you! I will check out great lengths but I'm sure they will cost well over 4k. I have very thick hair! If anyone else knows of any reputable mobile hair stylist that does hair extensions please also let me know! Thank you. Do you need them for volume or length? I have long hair but it is baby fine. I have had 200 in and nearly caused myself whiplash washing my hair once lol I now only have 40 in and they cost 40AED each ( per strand) it makes so much difference to my hair and the thickness. My hairdresser doesnt charge to put them in either. I am the Queen of fake, i have a messy bun, ponytail and clipins also. I like to create different styles :-)

I can relate. I get most of my clothes back home for this reason. If you have a pair of trousers that you like, take them to Satwa and have them copy them. I've done this with a few pairs. It depends what your budget is, but have you tried Zara or Mango? I shop everywhere here Zara, Mango, Debenhams, Top Shop, RI the list is endless! Personally i feel their are toooo many shops and i could spend spend spend! agh
