Love Chester with its lovely old Tudor buildings, The Rows, used to go boating on the river and have picnics on the banks. My DH came from Llandudno and I met him whilst he was doing his MANWEB apprenticeship in Hoylake (next door to Meols) ! Been to Flat Foot Sams many times. It was part of the Stanley Hotel where we had our wedding reception. Have friends in Willaston and one of my oldest friends from school lived in Bromborough so know that quite well too. It's a small world ! How old is your Husband? My Brother is 44 and stayed in Meols with a landlady who took in the apprenticeship boys Monday to Friday I will always be a Chester girl at heart, love my home town :-) Very small world!!!

I remember all this too. I didn't eat spag bol until I was invited back to a university friend's house and her parents had to politely tell me how to manage it! I remember the TV test card with that girl at the blackboard. getting the bus to school, bags of rubharb rock on a Saturday night after my dad had gone to get his paper. Bored Sundays nothing to do after church, lovely warm summers playing tennis at school and at the local club. We had a party line! Crackerjack and Blue Peter. I could crush a grape! OMG memories

Love this thread and I really am ancient because I can remember nearly all that has been mentioned. Hard to think of things to add to it really but do remember coming home with my Dad one evening to find water cascading down the stairs as a frozen pipe had burst. We had one coal fire in the lounge, an electric one in the wall of the dining room and a free standing one in your bedroom. Ice on the inside of the bedroom window. They seemed to be really hard winters but we also seemed to have lovely summers (rose tinted specs. ??) Pottery covers to go over the milk bottles to keep them cool outside when they were delivered. Stone hot water bottles. Pleated navy blue gym slips for school uniform, navy knickers with a pocket in for your handkerchief and liberty bodices to keep you warm. Going to the Co-op to buy their gorgeous crusty bread and my Mum's dividend number there - 39063. The tubes whizzing overhead to the cashier's office. Local sweet shop that also made their own dandelion and burdock lolly ices - fab. Having summer days out as a family and walking up the Great Orme in Llandudno to see my grandfather. My Dad was born on and lived up there until he left home to get married. Spending most of the summer holidays with friends from school either riding our bikes to various places for picnics, going sailing or to the outdoor swimming pool. We used to buy a season contract but you had to come out at lunchtime as they closed and we would hang around to go back in until early evening. Parents didn't need to worry about us being safe. Dances at the local YMCA when we saw the Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Cilla Black, The Searchers, etc. before they were ever famous. Most Sundays taking the train from West Kirby on the Wirral and then the number 11 tram in Liverpool to go to my Grandmother's. Many of my Mum's brothers, sisters and their children would gather. Often twenty people round the table for roast dinner and high tea later. Happy days and many wonderful memories. edited by amelia on 19/04/2012 We used to do day trips to Llandudno and Prestayn in the school holidays.. West Kirby OMG we used to go there all the time!

This post made me very nostalgic and gave me goose bumps No X Boxes or playstations and come rain or shine we were kicked out of the house during all holidays, weekends and school nights and only came back if we were hungry or had to be home. No computers, no mobile phones. Gosh the world was a better place back then No fast food except from the chippy on a Friday! We didnt even have a freezer until chest freezers in the garage became trendy. Until then it was a tiny freezer in the fridge that held ice pops and fish fingers haha The good old days :-)

Are you nails long enough to use Gellish? It is much kinder on your nails, cheaper than gel and takes half the time to do. I wouldnt use acrylic as apparently it isnt good in the sun. Much better in colder weather Gel are nicer than acrylic :-).

The same happens here in Australia with you are not the primary account holder. It's very frustrating as my DH travels a lot and isn't able to deal with the bank. One time the bank here phoned to say a mortgage wasn't paid as there wasn't enough money in the account. When I asked how much they needed because I could transfer it from another account - she couldn't tell me as I was not the primary account holder. I said - listen lovely you want the money and I want to give it to you so why don't we play a guessing game? I will tell you an amount and you can say if you think my transferring that amount will be a good idea or not. She agreed. It seemed logical to me that she just should have told me you need to transfer this amount. But banks don't seem to work like that - at least not in Australia or Dubai. UK is the same.. Although if your Hubbie travels he can write a letter giving your authorisation to discuss the account etc It is all down to confidentiality and any bank speaking with you cannot prove you are their Wife etc ( They can be sued for giving out information without the primary holders permission) and believe me we had ex Wives, Husbands etc trying to gain info regarding accounts etc

I had one of the courier guys spit in my path YUK.. When i asked him why he did that he said he didnt have a tissue to which i replied "Oh so it okay to do it in my path and in front of me" He got very agressive so i whipped out my phone, took a photo of his number plate and said i would ring the police. He then apologised... Disgusting

I also work 8.30am to 5pm and it is 20 mins away from home. But I find the holiday allocation really hard, as in my last job I got 30 days plus bank holidays and now 30 inclusive. Also I realised recently there is no mention in my contract of a lunch break time allowance. It's mentioned in the labour law...... also am not sure if the 30 days inclusive of Bank holidays is per labour law.... Do you mean lunch break is mentioned in the labour law, re. holidays - I am not sure either, if we get less bank holidays I lose out. 22 days plus weekends equals 30 days that is labor law ( Except for the DIFC, days are less) we are not guaranteed the public holidays unless it is stated for the Private sector ( when announcements are made) I have spoken with the MOL so many times regarding this over a 6 year period. Our company follow the LL strictly and we only get the public holidays if announced for the Private sector. If they fall on a weekend then we do not get a day in Leiu as this is technically illegal :-) I believe so - i understand that if you work more than 5 hours you are entitled to a break..... you are also entitled to 30 days + Public holidays.... as per labour law..... AB - I might have to kiss you - do you have any idea where in the LL it states about holidays?

Well, it's not Premium Economy but I can thoroughly recommend the Emirates A380 airbus to Sydney. Both DH and I are tall and the difference in legroom between that and most economy seats is brilliant. Totally agree the A380 in amazing with sooooo much room! Love it The one i was on leaked water through the roof and rattled like crazy on the descent, not my best flight lol!

Goldeelocks, I did my diet (slimming programm with helbalife), lost almost 10 kg in three months, cm size smaller (arm, legs, hips) but the belly remains there..... :-) wow good for you, 10kg is a good loss. Fat doesn't reduce in the same place at the same time...with you obviously the tummy is last to go, with others it might be bum or legs or (the lucky ones) boobs! So I'd say you probably need to diet a bit more combined with cardio and a good "core" program which any good trainer can give you. Good luck. Alot of my friends did the Body for Life. Healthy eating combined with cardio and weights.. The transformations were amazing plus it isnt some faddy lose alot quickly then gain it all back even quicker. It is written by a well respected Doctor in the US and they have a book for both Male and Female :-)

It probably wont be under 100 quid here they will increase all the prices ;-( I never find anything decent in there. I wasnt having a dig at you as it is up to you if you run on the road. I just feel it is a crazy thing to do here as the standard of driving is appalling and if you are hit, whether it is your/drivers fault the driver gets the blame no matter what Be safe :-)

I can understand when pedestrians have to walk on the road due to construction, pot holes, no pavements etc however running on the raod when you live close to a running track or area that is off road is crazy! I have had people step out in front of me and almost end up over my bonnet. Step out between parked cars, school buses and lastly a stupid person trying to cross SZR at rush hour. To the OP i am not saying that you would ever do any of the above but believe me i wouldnt run on the road here. The driving standards here are appalling and a majority of the drivers arent even paying attention to the road ( Too busy talking on their mobiles) Be very careful. Accidents are rife and it is unfair if a driver hits someone accidentally. I totally agree pavements are for pedestrians BE SAFE :-)

I've been hiring for a while and have tried so many different companies. The best one is still hertz. A tad on the high price but you do pay for the brand new car and customer service is always good. No hassle at all. Thanks
