Did Rattlesnake relocate somewhere? That's kind of what I want to know. If the reviews I read are legitimate then I can't imagine Dubai (or anywhere in the world) knocking down a place that would have made that much money (or though who the money goes to could be questionable). Bur Dubai has plenty of outlets that can replace the Rattlesnake lol. Cyclone did a roaring trade for years and that went a few years back :-)

Hi there, Hubby and I will be leaving Dubai soon and were thinking of where he would like to have his "farewell" from work. There are a few young guys and a few older ones too, but most are married (or at least attached) so we wanted to go for a drink somewhere first and then dinner at another place later on. Hubby came home tonight and said that one of his workmates had suggested the Rattlesnake Bar for drinks first and then go to one of the restaurants at the Metropolitan Hotel on SZR. Neither of us have ever been there, and I don't really know where it is (I know SZR, but can't say I remember seeing a sign for the Metropolitan Hotel). We have been out tonight for dinner and think that our choice may be better, but does anybody know anything about the Metropolitan Hotel. We have tried to find some reviews online, but they are old (circa 2009) and are not very flattering if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance. Rattlesnake? Am i missing something? I certainly wouldnt let my OH go there ;-)

I worked in the recruitment industry for 6 years and to be honest via agencies if you are not based here you will rarely get a look in Clients do not want to speak via the telephone and Skype ahem is blocked and not really used It costs client alot of time and money to recruit internationally therefore they will always give priority to locally based candidates. Bear in mind a locally based candidate will have UAE experience. There are 1000's of admin people in Dubaiso the competition can be fierce. Clients can demand a candidate based on age, nationality, gender etc etc. I always advised candidates to either contact companies directly or to visit the region and actively look. In my 6 year tenure i placed 1000's of candidates and not one of them lived outside the UAE. I had no need to recruit internationally Good Luck!

My friend who lives in Ireland bought her ring from Cara in 2007. She had it valued in Ireland in 2011 and it was valued at 3 times more than what she paid here. Personally i would sell it back home ( That is if you are from the UK )

For a first timer - what do you recommend, waxing or threading? I was a wax convert then became a threading one. The only problem with threading for me is that because of my sensitive skin i end up with very red spots for a while after my eyebrows have been done. I am not back to waxing with a bit of threading for the bits they cannot get with the wax! It can be a little painful threading however they can shape them better. I am a big Wuss so opt for waxing :-)

Chocs 01, I had the same problem too recently trying to buy the Talise Spa Jumeirah Sabeel Saray deal, tried a couple of cards it wouldn't go through (sufficient funds available!) so opted for cash on delivery within 3 working days. One month on I've heard nothing. I've tried to ring, no answer. I even e-mailed the hotel direct voicing my concerns of such a deal/such a company and asking why they don't offer the deal direct to their loyalty members - no response! i'm not going to bother again. Very disappointed. Anyone else got any feedback? I bought the Zabeel Saray one for my birthday. Bought 2 vouchers in Feb and used them on my birthday at the end of Feb. No issues with CC or vouchers :-) I know there is a guy called Omar who works for their customer service omar.abumaratcobonedotcom

Hi Appletiser plums/purples are your contrasting colours that will really make your eyes pop. Depending on your skin (the dreaded wrinkles)you can choose your textures accordingly. Some light golden colours can look great too as you possibly have some amazing golden flecks through your gorgeous green eyes. Even just a really simple plum kohl eyeliner in place of a black can make a difference. Regarding palettes I am not a huge fan of the ones that come already made up as we always use more of one colour and it becomes a waste. I love Illamasqua eyeshadows for their range of matte eyeshadows. I would love green eyes!!! It took m several hours and lots of crying ( watery eyes) to get them in but now i can do them in my sleep :-) I use cosmetic coloured lenses and went green for the day. They looked great :-) I am terrified of doing it! Need to try again!

Any recommendations to make green eyes pop? Mac, Makeup forever, Urban Decay are the best eyeshadows in my opinion. They are the only ones that remain intact after a night out Illamasque are good too :-) Where do you get Urban Decay? I heard their naked palette is great but can find the brand in Dubai. Nars do one aswell.

I feel that Boots is just a glorified pharmacy :( kinda Spinneys of supermarkets. Strawberrynet is good, but if you check, the prices are sometimes higher than on the original product sites (and I guess that's why the shipping is free). Probably compare in-store prices with online and make the purchase if you are not in a hurry. Also, check for the special offers in-stores - ex. I've bought Elemis range collection in Debenhams for 1000Dhs with value of 2,500 back in December It is here but not in the UK :-(

I wasn't aware of Boots marking up their prices.. thanks for bringing to attention, will now check. Boots is more expensive than my home country. I get my friends to bring the stuff i need in or buy it when i go home. The saving is huge! I love the Soap and Glory range but the products i used are almost 30-40AED more expensive than the UK!

The police cars with the big white boxes on the top of them can read all license plates which is connected to an in car computer that tells them if the car is upto date with its registration and insurance, just like in the UK. That's why they're often seen sitting at the side of the road. They're checking your details are upto date. That's how I got caught a while back with expired registration. DH was organising, but got delayed doing for a few days and it expired. I got pulled, car impounded for a week and 600AED fine. Personally, ask the insurance co for 24 hr cover, not worth the risk. I got stopped 2 weeks ago and my registration was expired. I got a 200AED fine but my car was not impounded

I would not recommend that you communicate with them at all, not even a "WHAT DO YOU WANT". Do not say a thing, this will only encourage them.....also I do not think it would be particularly clever to let them see you taking a photo of their plate. This will not be used as evidence, so pointless. It will most likely irritate them. It is a poorer neighborhood and this is what you get, not nice, but hardly surprising. It is a poorer neighbourhood? Funny that? I have been followed by the kerb crawlers on the Palm and the Marina in the past.. I just do not make eye contact and look straight ahead. I do not think it has anything to do with the area at all If you do feel threatened say you will ring the police. I cannot imagine the police would take their side over someone walking their dog

I am on Dukan diet attack phase, day 2 I am so bored of the vegetarian options for Ducaners! Is there anything other than tofu, yoghurt, cottage cheese? I don't take eggs! What else can you eat during the attack phase? That is why i prefer the South Beach diet. Dukan is far to restrictive and i was constantly feeling hungry and tired all the time

Hi Ladies, I got married and moved here in November...my two best friends in London that I have known for 9 years have seen how hard me and my husband have worked on our relationship..they were there for me throughout and I have always been there for them too... It all started on my hen night, my “girls” gave me the worst hen nights to remember and my four days in Barcelona were ruined. Cutting a long story short, we managed to sort things out two weeks after we got back and I thought we were back to normal. So I had my wedding, honeymoon, came back to London said my good byes thinking everything was perfect. After being in Dubai for two weeks I got in touch with them...and soon realised it was me making all the effort and it felt awkward. Later I hear from all my other friends how two faced they were being two days before my wedding at my house and during my wedding...I was shocked, heart broken and felt totally betrayed. I thought if it wasn’t true they would get in touch with me and make the effort...I’ve been here for four months now and I haven’t heard a word...I wanted to talk to them about it but I realised I was pregnant and just didn’t want to deal with them. It has now really started to get to me, I have tried to be so strong and get on with my new life here but I feel so alone and totally abandoned by my friends. I never thought they would be so jealous and would not support my move...They were my girls and we spoke about everything, everyday and I now I feel like I have no one. My husband supports me so much and I don’t like getting upset infront of him and I hate feeling my life has turned upside down because I married the man I love. Sorry for the long story but I just don’t know what to do now... Has anyone else been through this? How do I deal with this? I could really do with some good advice Thank You Personally any of my close friends who dont have my back or ***** about me behind my back are no longer friends of mine Sometimes you find out the hard way. I would cut them out of your life. Sorry to sound blunt but my friends are like my family and we we would never do that to each other. You can always make new, decent friends :-)

I had one in the lampshade on my balcony. Unfortunately the big black birds here swooped in one day and took the eggs I then had pigeons use it but they defacated all over the balcony and i was forever scrubbing it down. As a result of that i got the nest cleared. There werent any eggs in it and i loved to hear the 1st lot of birds chirping. I have had to put chicken wire in it now to stop anymore building them

I am suprised that its all standing tickets available... and if open to all ages then they should have provided some seated. I wanted to take DS and his friends aged 8 - 10 years. What do you suggest?? Have you been to a concert at this venue? Is there a map of the concert layout to see what kind of tickets we are buying.. any infor on this concert tickets will be helpful. I have never been to this venue but the Sports City arenas do have seats I would call the number and ask ( It is on my post below)

Because she wants the VISA! Pls ladies be carefull! I have been through this and was told that Ma'am I just want to get a visa for Dubai for ANY job while I look for another job ie office, nurse whatever they are trained in and then they will leave you after you have forked out ALL the expenses, seriously do not get taken in! probably true in some cases but a slight generalisation I also know several Westerners who did the same during the boom time. Employers forked out 1000's for their visa's etc. Isn't that the same? Absolutely. It's hard for me to take a real stance on this issue, because I respect anyone who is willing to take a job as a maid, or any other position that would be considered to be below their education level/career experience. I was a maid myself for 2 years when I moved to a new state back in the US, and had to start over. When I was ready to move on to a better opportunity, I trained 2 new maids to replace me, gave my employers good notice I was leaving, and I was an independent contractor--I was not sponsored and did not leave anyone high and dry. I was raised not just to have a good work ethic, but to also to have ethics period. It is the burden of the employer to keep payroll reasonable yet retain good employees at the same time. People will still up and leave you, no matter how well you treat them, but then you get blessed with good people that stay as well. You can't judge which will be which though--I get surprised, still, and I consider myself a good judge of character and intentions. My Mum was an educated woman and worked 2 jobs, cleaning and as a dinner lady. She did it to clothe and feed 4 children. I agree with Beebers. Most people come here to have a better quality of life and to earn money for their future. There will always be bad eggs in ALL nationalities however i admire people who leave their families to come to a strange country in order to give their family a better life. It is a huge sacrifice

I thought it was common knowledge that many of the maids, shop staff etc here are well qualified back in their home countries but are able to earn more and have better opportunities doing lesser work here... I wouldn't be surprised if a maid told me she had a degree in her home country (whether it's comparable to degrees in other countries is another matter though....) It was the same in the UK. Alot of the Polish ladies were qualified accountants/teachers/lawyers etc in Poland They were paid more working in a supermarket in the UK. Nurses are poorly paid here and work very long hours ( shifts etc) Perhaps working as a maid for a lovely family here is a better way of life for them. How many ex pats in Dubai worked in low level roles in the West, came here and landed a senior level role based on their nationality rather than experience. Personally i do not think there is anything wrong with a nurse being a housemaid.
