Always wear my teva's for travelling. They have survived all sorts and look brand new after a quick scrub, fours years and still going strong. I know you can get them in Stadium in Dubai Mall but I don't know if they have a great selection. There are some quiet pretty ones as well as the really hardy ones.

Oh and in the mean time ask them to provide a copy of the title with the new owners name, if an agent is contacting you ask them for proof they represent the owner.

They cannot evict you. I don't know what you mean about the sale being illegal? if you haven't already change the locks, so they can't get into the apartment. It's quiet easy, generally you can just swap the barrel. I always do this for safety, as most apartments have that stupid key to get in and out lock which is just a hazard in an emergency. They are just trying to bully you and they have no right to do any of what they are claiming.

If you're not flying with Eithad you can just pop over to the office and buy a ticket, can't do it online or over the phone (or at least you couldn't before) I did it a few years ago. I can't remember how much it was, there were two of us and i think it might have been cheaper for us to get a taxi than to get a ticket each.

We got our astroturf installed from DragonMart last week. I am happy we went with the artificial lawn and we got a good deal, but I was not happy with the way they installed it. I can see the seams, and they were very sloppy with the adhesive. They 'leveled' the ground first, and I was really disappointed with the results. If you can, have someone there full-time while they are installing to make sure they level adequately, take the rubbish with them, etc. Ours is very hard too, I second another poster who recommends a good underlayer. I have heard you can move artificial grass or re-sell it on Dubizzle, but probably only if they do not glue it down. Best of luck! Did your guys put a frame in around the edge to attach it to, or just plop it down? edited by mannikat on 23/04/2014 Yep! We had a black plastic frame put in, and a border of rocks (top tip: the rock border cut down on the amount of artificial grass needed, saved heaps) Sounds good! moving in a few months and trying to budget, only found one place in Dragon Mart hat were going use a frame all the others were suggesting the weight would magically keep it down! Will keep DH at home that day so its gets done properly!

All the Filipino ladies in my office do this, we are the only company on our floors so i guess they trust the rest of us. Some ladies did it my company back home as well, but just one company in the building. I guess if you know everyone it 'should' be secure enough. All the food at work is great but dangerous and so hard to resist all the time!

Lifeworks run great classes, they do mindfulness as well. I would recommend doing that first as they really connect and mindfulness is a great base for meditation. I did it backwards which was still good though!

Just had nightmare with ours, they gave us 12 months to notice to vacate 2 days before we were due to renew, so we asked them to remove the 2 month penalty and allow us to leave with one months notice, which they agreed to then they sent a completely different contract with no notice period which was even worse than what we had. Then they rescinded the notice to vacate but tried to increase the rent, after more backwards and forwards we finally we signed a six month lease. I understand they own the apartment but these guys wanted to have their cake and eat, they also gave three different reasons for the notice to vacate, two in writing.... this company don't know their a$$ from their elbow. Good luck! We refused to sign anything until the agreement was made reasonable, which i found terrifying but DH is pretty calm thankfully. edited by mannikat on 22/04/2014

Ring of Kerry now I am really jealous! its the most beautiful place! If you have some time in Cork, go to the English Market, the Crawford gallery, Franciscan well brewery (bar & microbrewary) farm gate for lunch, liberty grill for dinner. I want to go home now!! if you go to kinsale there a wonderful seafood restaurant called fishy fishy used to have amazing seafood chowder. If you like whiskey the Jameson Tour in Midleton is quiet good. Are you going Galway?

For a three day stay i wouldn't go to Cork or the Giants Causeway both wonderful but too far for such a short trip. Guinness Storehouse and Botanical Gardens as recommend. The National Gallery and the Natural History Museum (dead zoo) would need to check if its reopened i know it was being renovated. St Stephens Green, Trinity is in the heart of the city houses the book of Kells and the campus is lovely for a walk. Check out the Project arts centre its near the infamous templebar they have interesting exhibitions and plays. There are lovely quirky shops and cafes off Grafton street. Dublin is just a wonderful place for a wander. If you like music whelans is a good spot, for comedy try the ha'penny bridge check out ticketmaster for plays or gigs that might be on. Enjoy, i would recommend bars and restaurants but i know a lot have changed since i last spent some time there... Enjoy....!!

As far as i know DIFC is not covered by Rera, so there is nothing to stop crazy rent increases etc... Downtown is lovely and with places like south-ridge you have a short walk to the mall and short drive to work always taxi's down stairs. I've lived in Business Bay for three years, Exec towers is a nice community even if you don't have kids the park is nice, plus nice restaurants with a Burj View at the back. The only thing i find weird is the building entrances are generally through the car parks. Moved to windsor manor last year, highly recommend the building the owners not so much. Apparently 20 apartments are required for personal use by the same landlord.... :( Re Park Towers the windows leak quiet badly in the rain, friends woke up to a flooded living room, big apartments but no storage and small kitchens. sky towers small apartments, i've only seen ones that looked straight at the other building. edited by mannikat on 07/04/2014 edited by mannikat on 07/04/2014 edited by mannikat on 07/04/2014

Have the doctors given any reason like endometriosis for your pain? I should be on the pill to manage mine but i need a break from the side effects (crying nutter 10days a month) my cramps are awful now but its just for a few days and i would prefer the pain to emotional stress. Most women are fine on the pill and its definitely worth a try if your pain is that bad. edited by mannikat on 02/04/2014

They won't stop for the rain but if its very windy they may not put them on. Went to the meat co last year and the wind was so bad everyone outside the restaurants on that side got soaked every-time it went off, so they cancelled it for the rest of the night.

The ME isn't perfect and pretending it is the land of sunshine and opportunity isn't going to make it any better.... the attitude that you must love it or go home does my head in. I don't love it here, but I actively get help people through my work which allows me enough conscience to sleep at night, the moment i don't have that I will have to go somewhere else. There is plenty of to like about region and I hope that the progressive 'talk' is being back up with action....they could take a phrase from home 'not there yet but getting there...(irish rail)" Many expats here including westerners have little choice but to be here, i am an economic migrant, I'd rather work any where in the world than take social handouts back home, even though I come from a country that provides them. I am willing and able to work therefore I do. I doubt any of us knew what we were getting into before we got here, there is only so much you can learn from books and visits.

Get looking for work asap, you know how slowly things move here and you don't want to be looking for work in the summer. If the office is closing i'm sure they would let you go earlier if you had another job lined up. As Sakhifa said see if you can cancel the apartment contract, its worth a try. Good luck, you have two years experience that will put you above many candidates just arriving.

Have to agree with Ruth M, if you're not sure I would definitely recommend going to a gpp level one course (you can borrow a dslr for the course). Its a really good way to see if you will use the camera fully as someone else said if you are going to use it in auto a high end compact might be better. I'm saying this as some that had one for a year before really learning what to do with it. I have a canon and love it but my compact was a canon so it was an easier step and easy to go between them as the settings/buttons are more or less the same. Happy snapping!

Sorry this is off topic.... while it maybe a necessity to 'protect' these women, it sickens me to the core that we live in a world that tries to teach women not to get raped rather than a world that teaches men not to rape. This is a worldwide issue... its so sad to think people treat each other this way and nothing meaningful is being done to change it...

Thanks for clarifying, personally I wouldn't trust any banks out here to advise me on savings. I trust my financial advisor and he seems to have pointed me in the right direction, I have enough in my bank account and money saved so all ok. Its not just here unfortunately, I only worked in finance back home and they were plenty of sharks/people with no clue there too. If you got a good one stick with him :)

You should never invest unless you have at 6 months salary aside for emergency's (medical issues, job loss etc...) That is insane, I would never have 6 months salary sitting in my bank account for an "emergency" if I had to I would never save! Perhaps salary is the wrong word i mean enough to manage on for 6 months which granted can be quiet different. Its not insane its standard financial sense and what banks should be advising. What good is 100k in a 25yr fixed account if you lose your job? I have been in a position where i have had to tell people that they can't break their accounts and that next week they will default on car loans mortgages, school fees, business loans etc... yet they have thousands tied up in fixed accounts that can only be broken in the event of death. All because they were sold the wrong product for their needs.

I don't know the product but on a 25 year plan you can't really get accurate reviews in a short space of time. Did they fully explain its operation before they sold it you you? Things like exit charges etc... should have been fully explained. Its frightening what people sell and what people buy without fully understanding it. You should never invest unless you have at 6 months salary aside for emergency's (medical issues, job loss etc...) your savings schemes should vary in duration and type. I know back home any product lasting longer than 12 months requires a full financial review, everyone hates them but it they are done properly they assess what you can afford and how best to make it work for you.

Employers are thinking that they don't have to pay for quality. They get what they pay for... pay peanuts get........ So many company's accept substandard services because options are limited, if you have single source suppliers what can you do? If they think their bottom line won't be effected by cheap staff I think they are deluded but it wont happen over night. No one fights here because its not worth the hassle or drawing attention to yourself so we fix things and plod along, its not sustainable. I was severely medically mistreated in a hospital here, what did i about it? nothing because i would have gotten no where.

I would recommend a good nutritionist to get started, its all well and good knowing what you need to do but getting it done practically can be the hard part. A qualified professional can really help get you going, after that a good pt would be preferable, gyms are all well and good but you need someone that can focus on your body and getting you where you want to go. this can be pricey so i would start with the nutritionist and get out walking before the weather gets too hot.

Sorry! As far as i know its generally all or mostly commission based so it would depend on the number of clients they see. Haven't got a clue what percentage they would get tho. Say it were 50% at 400 per session at 8 sessions a day would work about 30k a month? I am really only guessing tho. More experienced and more specialised might be charging more tho. edited by mannikat on 18/02/2014

Not a senior lady but i had a run in with 'the menopause' 18months ago. I feel for you its awful feeling that heat rush over you and sweat run out... i don't think there is any makeup that is sweat proof if there is i would love to hear about it. What i found was it happened so fast the sweat came through my makup and i could just blot it off with a tissue and top up my powder when i could. I use mac tinted moistureriser daily and dior foundation when i am going out. I find Adidas deo quiet good as well, doesn't smell like deo and no white marks. Overall it can be quiet hard to deal with, i am only 30 so had no clue what going on, i ended up in counselling as i thought i had depression. Ask your doc for advise or support if you need, its different for everyone. Good luck xx edited by mannikat on 18/02/2014

Yes, but it is really only safe to cycle on the cycling tracks, there is one at Nad al Sheba 4k & 8k loops, its close to Meydan race course. there is also al qudra near Arabian Ranches which has an 18k straight 50k loop then back 18k's to the car park. I haven't done this myself yet, as i am just a beginner, but I've heard its quiet good. Utility cycling or commuting wouldn't be very safe, although i have seen more people on bikes recently especially around Jumeirah. There is a cycling club, dubai roadsters. Not a member as I am still too slow but they seem quiet nice when they speed past me on the track :) edited by mannikat on 17/02/2014 Whoops didnt know how old this question was!

We cancelled the tv part of our package, relatively painless. 600-700aed a month was just insane.... when i thought about it in euro's i was pretty disgusted that i left it go on so long, paying it and not thinking about it. Finally got on the downloading band wagon, now i just watch the things i want rather than getting sucked into mindless rubbish when i get in.
