Poor PO, so many negative comments. First of all I would like to say, that I came here with my DH and we both are really happy living here. And I know quiet a few that share this experience... However, its great to evaluate and get difernet opinions before coming here. All the time I have 2 questions in my mind: 1. Why is your husband not coming the first half year here alone and you visit him? I think, this is the most common practice to be sure that his job is as "great" as expected. 2. Is it really impossible for you to have your own career here. You say there are no NGO jobs here. But maybe something similar... I work now in a quiet different field, but actually it was a career plus for me to move here. However, the way you describe your situation you are definitively not the stay home housewife. so that should be the only no-go.... All the best;)

Thanks, these are great tips. Bait al Bahar and the Pizza Place at Jumeirah Beach Hotel are looking the most authentic to me. Kite Beach cafes I have to try as well. Jetty, Eden etc. are too fancy and modern for me. Finding something authentic with character is quiet difficult in Dubai. If anybody else has some suggestion, I am all ears...;)

Hi girls, i am searching for a really relaxed authentic beach bar or cafe. I am not talking about the fancy venues you will find when you google or party destinations like barasti. I rather have something in mind like beach restaurants in italy, spain, portugal or similar. cheap white plastic chairs, a charcoal grill, relaxed music, directly at the beach....If you made holiday in these places you will know what I mean. the closest I could find would be Bu qtair, but it is not at the beach. I would appreciate any tip. thanks, mina
