Hi. I was recently in an accident in Sharjah, the other driver got a white sheet and he was completely at fault, he ran into me on a roundabout - so unfortunately I do think the blame has gone to you. Thank you for your feedback. I'm just gonna pay the fine, good thing it's 50% off in Sharjah. I guess that's life :) and thanks for answering the question. Got so many people judging me here geez!

It is a merging road, and I have no other choice but to join the lane. Anyway, I see it unfair because the driver already saw half of my car was already in but he still didn't want to give way but instead pushed through knowing he could hit me, which he did. Is there a law prohibiting changing lanes in Dubai? I see tons of drivers everyday changing lanes WITHOUT using the signal. At least I use the signal to let others what I plan to do next. I respect your opinion, if that's how you see it. you could have waited - indicating doesn't give you the write to hit another car; which is what you did if you drove into his lane and both cars touched...... I didn't just signal and then drove to the lane just like that. Of course I waited until I saw that the distance is pretty safe, I just didn't know that the car will speed up more instead of giving way. I am here to ask if anyone knows about the white slip I got from police, not to be judged. I already got the verdict from the police which I duly respected so please, do not tell me "indicating doesn't give you the RIGHT to hit another car" as if I did it on purpose and secondly, I am not the abusive type of driver, I follow all traffic rules and etiquette. it was an accident. I believe no one wanted it to happen. edited by miss_faye08 on 24/04/2013

One of my hates on the road here. You indicate to let people know you want to move and they speed up so to move across becomes dangerous. Worst is when your lane is about to end and no one wants to let you in.. Exactly! no wonder why a lot of drivers don't use signals anymore. The thing is, when they see the indicator, they will speed up so as not to let you move.

sorry but in my opinion if the other car hit you there clearly wasn't enough room for you to move over... I have to say there's plenty of room to move over. He just speed up more even when he saw I was already halfway there. thanks

mycar was hit by another car from the back. I was properly using signal and made sure everything is ok before I went to the other lane but I guess the other car didn't want to give way so even if he saw I was already changing lanes, he still pushed forward and hit me. I reported it to the police and got the shock of my life when the police said it was my fault. faye08, don't understand why this is unfair? Indicating doesn't give right of way to move lanes like many drivers here assume it does. How can he push forward when he was already in his own lane? Sorry to say, but agree with the police decision on this one. It is a merging road, and I have no other choice but to join the lane. Anyway, I see it unfair because the driver already saw half of my car was already in but he still didn't want to give way but instead pushed through knowing he could hit me, which he did. Hello All, I live in Sharjah but work in Dubai. On the way to Emirates Road, mycar was hit by another car from the back. I was properly using signal and made sure everything is ok before I went to the other lane but I guess the other car didn't want to give way so even if he saw I was already changing lanes, he still pushed forward and hit me. I reported it to the police and got the shock of my life when the police said it was my fault. The damage is not really that bad, only some paint were scratched off. The police said because it was the other car's lane, it somehow gives him the right to hit me o.O The police gave me the white copy of the report, and a pink copy to the other party. What I know is that in Sharjah, the pink copy goes to the faultless party and the green one to the party who bears fault. However, what about in this case? I have the white copy what does it mean? I am so sad having to pay in excess when I claim insurance for this. It feels so unfair! I know it wasn't my fault but I can't do anything about it! Can anyone please let me know what does it mean to get a white copy? Many thanks in advance! edited by miss_faye08 on 22/04/2013
