RIITA, I would also advise the nursery route. Accountability would be the main reason. I know many people have found lovely trusting nannies but I dont think everyone is lucky in this search. The nurseries are a monitored and curriculum driven enviornment. Also you mention guilt...go to work (in your mind think of it as trial only..the first few weeks are hard so set a target of say 6 weeks and tell yourself you will reevuate your decision after these many weeks and not before). I believe and hope your child will be well settled and you will start feeling less of the guilt and be happy to see him developing and happily going to the nursery. Just give it some time otherwise the initial tough days will put you off. Most good nurseries are 14k plus per term as one poster pointed out. However, I visited one just recently called Oakfield in JLT and they are running 30 percent discounts till they reach capacity. The layout seemed nice and is cctv monitored as well. Maybe you can have a look and might come in you budget. I checked it out for September enrollment and my decision will depend on where i find work :) Good Luck!

Will RERA not tell you what constitutes adequate proof? Have you asked them if the Ejari is suitable? I thought they were on the tenants side for advice, etc ... The rent committee should have access to Ejari which will state who lives in the property and if they are paying rent My friend who recently won their case used this as proof. They were not asked to provide proof as that is what the Ejari was set up to do Thanks Sarahlou, The commitee hasn't asked us to provide anything. They didn'r evem talk to us yet :s. Just said this is the defense paper and u can take it home to reply or if u want we can give judgement now. Im not sure if this is just how it is. If possible, can you ask your friend. And also whether they got a lawyer or did it themselves. Did the other party have a lawyer? Thank you so much for your replies.

When you were asked to vacate were you given the legal notice from the land department with the reason as to why they wanted you to vacate? I.E selling or moving in/family Everyone has to have an Ejari now when renting an apartment and the Ejari states if you are a LL or a tenant. The RC should know this as I know someone in a similar situation who recently won their case Do you know what they presented as proof of new teneants. We have already added the dubizzle ad and that we checked with neignors vut the defense has said this is not meaningful proof in the court of law.

The landlord is wrong and you have a case in rera, which can go on for month and you could very well be out of pocket once it finished. And if you win the case and move back in, your landlord will hate you, so if anything needs repair I doubt he will do it. The rental market has softened, wouldn't it be easier just to find something new and build a new relationship with a landlord. For the duration we did stay there. Not once did he respond to a repair maintenance request and all the handful of times we did it out of our pocket. I doubt that habit will change. He has also kept our deposit and nade a reciept of the exact amount.

I disagree with Silvstet. You have a good case and when this happened to us, I wish we had done something about it. Plus, you are out of pocket for the moving expenses which presumably you can recover from the landlord. Do you believe someone else is living in the apartment? Is there apartment security who can confirm that for you? Could you knock on the door and see if someone answers? At this point you have nothing to lose and rera is quite accustomed to dealing with expats and shady landlords so I don't know if I would go the lawyer route at the moment. That will simply add cost that you may or may not get back. Thanks sheikhandbake, We did confirm from the people in the building before filing the case and so we are sure that there is a new tenant living there. The notice said he wanted it for personal use. The main thing is how can I get about providing proof to court of someone else living there. I was hoping they could just access some database and know from ijari details but i think we need to do the work. Earlier you could do an inquiry at land department but now they have stopped that. Seems my only option is to knock on the door and ask the new tenant for a copy of the ijari. Not sure how that would go as he might be very skeptical and hesitant

Just as many other people we were given a notice that landlord wants to use the property and so we have to vacate it. We reuctantly had to leave. However after vacating we saw an ad on dubizzle for rent out of the same apartment and followed it to realize it was indeed the same apartment. We filed a case with rera and today was our second date. In the first date, the landlord's lawyer got an extension and so today was then second date. We went in and they just handed us two pages with arabic text saying this is the defense. The committe asked whether we want a verdict or new date. I was confused as i didnt know what the 2 pages said and so we got a new date. Now after having a friend read out one of the points is that what we saw on dubizzle cannot be used as evidence. Can someone help me on this one. How can i 'Prove' some tennat is living in that apt ? What would comprise as proof for rera. Also, if anyone has experience with this kind of issue. Is it okay that i comprise a response and just get it translated in arabic or do u think i need to get a lawyer. (Other party having a lawyer and talking same language as judges intimidated me) Thanks for any tips and advice!

Eisha, Please visit dr delphine at health bay polyclinic or other lactation consultant. It is a common misconception to feel baby is crying because our milk supply is low. Although there are cases where that does happen but not as often as our mother/mother in law state this as the reason baby is crying and make us believe so. Also a lactation consultant will help you gradually increase the supply that must have decreased because of your situation and supplementation. Eat lots of fenugreek and methi in ur diet. Most importantly get your daughter checked for tounge tie...I really suffered due to lack of knowledge. The fact that your saying there is a latch issue and how she is refusing the bottle as well suggests that it is a good idea to get this checked (it might be just the change of formula but could be that sucking or suckling is too much work and so she does the bare minimum. I would recommend you to read on it and get it checked) Good luck and please feel free to contact me if you think I can be of any support. Wishing your baby all the healthy weight!

Just an opinion. I loveeeeeeee The Greens. it has a community feel and its well maintained. it has access to everything nearby. clinic and hospital and supermarket and school. the local 'baqala' (small store) delivers at ur door step. the streets are not desserted at any time of the day nd till later at night. Mall of emirates is very close. if ur husband will be working in dubai Internet city or dubai media city that is also very close. there is a nice lake to walk around. I live one ground floor so gives a nice house feel wihout it being a villa. plenty of sunshine too. its the units on ground without the extra large balconies. we have two regular ones. I just cant believe we have to vacate it in August as per our landlord :( lived in greens for 5 yrs

Hi MKS! This review has put me at ease, thank you. FTM and delivering at Al Zahra, currently just started with Dr Yamini. My only issue so far is that when I request urgent call backs (booking my C section) from Dr Yamini or her nurse neither of them ever do and I cant be in touch with them directly, which I find really annoying and has left me with a sense of lack of care on their part. Did you ever experience this? Hi VanessaM, I went with Dr Yamini after reading good things abt her and her patients being happy with their delivry there. I was not happy with my first delivery experience and perhaps this is why I was more focused on labor facilities (esp the water pool in each room) and labor staff and so on and also a doctor that is pro-natural as anyone who has had one delivery knows that the doc really is there just to catch the baby :) Other than that from my doc side I just didnt want to be pushed for an induction. You can have a look around to find a doctor that matches your expectations and makes you feel comfortable. This is the most important thing! AND I never really called for anything (perhaps being second time I didnt have too much to ask about)...when they had to update me abt test results etc, the calls were always on time! edited by mks on 20/03/2015 edited by mks on 20/03/2015

Hi MKS! this review is helpful. Did you get an antenatal package prior to your delivery? Who's the attending OB you got? Hi Mommypie, I was with dr yamini and was paying appointment to appointment (no antenatal package). Thanks again for the reply. I heard the blood tests and scans are expensive if you don't get the package? How and where did you get your lab work done? al zahra also? Sorry to bombard questions, we have no insurance that's why every cost counts :( Noted for the OB reco. Congratulations by the way to your new bundle of joy! THANKS. Been busy! Im not sure abt the cost comparision for the lab n blood works as I could claim on my insurance. But I think it was comparable to other private hospitals. Perhaps taking the package would be the way to go if you will be paying out of pocket. Good Luck!

Instead of buying a co-sleeper which tend to be outgrown quite quickly, you could side-car your cot/crib. Just Google 'How to side-car your cot' and you will find really good steps. I have been using this arrangement for a few months and always thought I shouldve from day 1. You can try it to see if it works for you and baby:). I havent used foam wedges. Just rolled up towels to fill the gaps..and used a thick blanket that flows over some part of bed and cot. I DID get the bungee cords from carrefour to keep the cot stuck to bed at all times. Good luck!

I think this would also depend on ones stage in life. If you're single or married and living the Dubai Life then Saudi will definitely come as a shocker. Weve lived our early years together in Dubai and enjoyed the DINKs status here and were always discussing how we wud have never had the same fun if we were still in Saudi. With time, to be honest moving onto next stage of life with more rearesponsibility (thinking of savings family kids education) we both keep thinking if we get the chance we wud take it. So just to say that the move might sound crazy to some while to others it makes perfect sense decpending on their situations. ALSO, if you have any financial obligations thatt you want to pay off quickly definitely take the offer..the 30% increase in Dubai income is alot more in Saudi income because everything is so much cheaper there. For a rough idea Id say x1.5 I loved it there till middle school after which I felt a little 'limited' in terms of fun. We lived in a compund in Eastern Province and know wonderful people (maybe 100+families out of which 20ish met very often on the dinner parties my mum and her friends had every Thursday ). As some one pointed out less options of entertainment outside means more time spent meeting families. Incase you comsidering Khobar/Dammam and have any queries, will be glad to assist. Best of luck!

KellyJane. Please dont feel bad..its just one week after your delivery...this is a veryy very difficult time at every level. I never ever knew how difficult BF is. Always imagined it to be something simple and my first few weeks actually quite so many weeks...I cried every single time I fed my baby. .I was determined on BF but the pain was too much and at the same time I didnt wanna quit. Although like most ppl would tell u it got fine with time. The feeling of being cut off disappeared and it become effort less and I managed somehow..but I do wish I had been easier on myself and open to supplementing. I really didnt bond with my baby in all those weeks and I do think that was a loss even if I got the BM into her. I also dreaded every feed which was supposed to be my one on one time with her. ALSO she used to take an hour for a complete feed so I was pretty much always in pain. Get urself q BF pillow. Use loads of lanolin cream after every feed. Do try the madela gel pads. And either pump or supplement or whatever u decide to give urself time to heal. And shud u choose to switch to formula pleaseee dont let guilt ruin those precious days. Take care of yourself so you can take care of ur baby. Have fennel tea to increase breast milk. It works a wonder. Wishing u and ur baby the best!

Is that 100 days sickness applicable after 3 months maternity leave (if agreed by the company) or does it have to be immediately after the 45 days of the legal paid maternity leave do you know? I'm in a similar position to you saggi1 and it really sucks that so called international companies hide behind local labour laws so get people back to work, which just does not make sense if you are not going to be ready to perform your job to the best of your ability. I genuinely want to return to work, but know the 3 months is just going to be too soon. What choice do we have other than to agree or resign? Resigning brings up a whole other set of other issues and is not something I personally want to do either. I'm already dreading the return to work and I'm not even on mat leave yet! Obviously I need to change my mindset and be more positive, but like others have said, be prepared for it to be tough on you both physically and emotionally. If others can do it, so can you (and I), it's just going to be far from enjoyable, but we'll get through it. Best of luck :) If you have agreed 3 months of leave already dont change that and towards the end of it if you arent fine you could apply for the sickness leave which would come under this 100 days you are entitled to by law. I used my annual + 45 day maternity + some previously agreed unpaid leave. However as time to return was approaching I still hadnt recovered fully so was seeing a doc for my problem and applied for sick leave thinking of regular sick leave. This is when HR pointed out that I can take 100 days by law and it is categorized as sickness due to childbirth (wasn't aware before) edited by mks on 23/08/2013

If you can get a doctors note, your also entitled to sickness due to childbirth leave...this is 100 days unpaid after the 45 days paid...this should make the total about three months. U cud ask for unpaid leave which may or may not be granted depending on manager/company. If its your first child, its alot of learning and getting used to. ChuckyDucky is admirable and makes me reflect on my fitness level...I was exhausted and felt physically weak for 4.5 months after birth. It was a longgh time and I thought id never feel physically recovered ever again..id like to think that there are many who found 45 days to recover a joke :p

wow, totally untrue, unbelievable that a so called health professional would say this!! Not only is it untrue that your milk is less nutritious, there is actually some evidence that the nutritional value of the milk at this stage has changed to better meet a toddlers needs. [i'>“Human milk expressed by mothers who have been lactating for >1 year has significantly increased fat and energy contents, compared with milk expressed by women who have been lactating for shorter periods. During prolonged lactation, the fat energy contribution of breast milk to the infant diet might be significant.” – Mandel 2005[/i'> The World Health Organisation (which is obviously a pretty major health body) recommends two years of breastfeeding whenever possible. Not every woman wants to commit to that though and other health bodies like the American Academy of Pediatrics suggest aiming for at least 12 months, and then for however long after the mother/child desire with the view that from around the 12 month mark, a child is eating enough other foods to be able to get by with just cows milk. This is NOT the same as saying that cows milk is BETTER for your child than breastmilk, just that it is unlikely to be harmful if you no longer wish to breastfeed. There is not a single health body or medical association that suggests it is nutritionally harmful to breastfeed past 12 months. There are some "follow on formulas" which contain extra nutrients which your child should really be getting from solid food by now, if your child is a very poor eater, you could give them a multivitamin in addition to breastfeeding, but ideally instead of supplements or fortified formula your child would get their nutrition from actual food. Not only does your milk still have significant nutritional value at this point, but also it is still full of antibodies and probiotics to help your child's immune and digestive system, so its utterly ridiculous for a paediatrician of all people to be telling you to stop. [i'>The American Academy of Family Physicians notes that children weaned before two years of age are at increased risk of illness (AAFP 2008). Breastfeeding toddlers between the ages of one and three have been found to have fewer illnesses, illnesses of shorter duration, and lower mortality rates (Mølbak 1994, van den Bogaard 1991, Gulick 1986). [/i'> If you'd like to read some actual research, there are some good links here; http://kellymom.com/ages/older-infant/ebf-benefits/ Its really sad that this Dr is giving this information, there would be other mothers out there without the confidence to question it, and babies might be weaned as a result. You would be doing a lot of women a favour were you to put in a complaint, its just as bad as being prescribed the wrong drug to treat an illness. I have heard of Drs getting kickbacks from formula companies, if this advice came with a recommendation for any specific brand of follow on formula then I would be deeply suspicious (and definitely put in a complaint), if not then your Dr is probably just poorly educated, but that in itself would make me question their ability in general. Thanks kiwispiers for the detailed and informational reply...went through the links and feel even more surprised at the doctors comment. Funny that you mentioned, she did recommend a particular brand of formula. In no way did I imply ill be putting my daughter on a milk only diet till 2...her daily menu was discussed and approved and it was just that for milk she felt formula was THE way to go after 1. I will not be goin back to her for sure.

Send him to belhoul hospital. I will get my sister to bandage it. She did her residency in ortho so would know how. AND she will not charge him......though I wonder why you dont just take him to Iranian hosp or some place close yourself, its faster, more humane and you wont get him into trouble. He does after all work for you indirectly. I had asked a friend of mine if I should take him to the hospital and she said not to - could get complicated... she suggested we pay for a taxi to get him there. I am hesitant to send him in a taxi because will he use that money wisely? He does seem to have his head on his shoulders, but I don't know him all that well as he has only been working for me for about 5 weeks - he took over my normal gardner's position while he went on vacation. His English is poor, so I am not sure he understands everything I say. I printed a picture of a plaster for a broken wrist and told his boss to call me. I'll see what happens tomorrow and take it from there. He does not have a health card.... SD, This is just so sad. Although im not sure why ur friend has advised against taking him to hospital. In any case please do update us if Rashid Hospital worked out. Incase you will be collecting money for treatment please let me know as I wud like to contribute something too. edited by mks on 02/05/2013

Thanks everyone. Your replies were very encouraging. As for joining FT first and then reducing hours, I do feel thats the only way but what if u need the reduced hours in the beginning. Sarahlou: just for info I was asking for 6 months only of reduced hours which they made clear would be at reduced wage and no medical insurance. How is getting paid for what u do and not more unfair to other FT women?

I feel your distress! My DD was 4months when she started to have terrible sleep. I resorted to hiring a professional 'nanny' to sleep train her and teach me how to maintain it. It was the best decision I ever made and best money I ever spent. She used the controlled crying method, you start with 5min intervals and move your way up...I've rained my 3rd child as well now and all kids I bed by 7pm and I'm off to do the dishes! It's the best thing you could do for you and your child. Was this in Dubai? Can we have her contact plz?

I had the quinny for my first, a lot of cheap umbrellas in between, a contours tandem stroller, and am back to the quinny now. I'm quite happy with it except for two things: bottom basket isn't big enough to fit Anything! And I always have trouble in airports because I have to have some stranger hold the baby while close the pushchair. I know someone with the mamas n papas Sola I think, that seems very good. Also the bugaboo has often great reviews from friends. Good luck. (I love pushchair shopping! Enjoy! You should try the maxi cosi elea..ive been using it for months and absolutely love it..for just a bit more in price you get a quinny kind of stroller but with the perfect basket (similar to sola) and an incredibly easy fold and open system. When I had finalized a Quinny I refused to buy on last minute as I cudnt open it without sitting down and that was kinda important for me so searched and found that quinny is a slightly cheaper brand of maxi cosi and maxi cosi has its own range of strollers as well. Ended up buying the elea andno regrets! Ive seen it at mom and me in dubai. OP looking for compact so not sure if this would be best option for a small trunk.
