I set up a coach account and have my Shakeology sent to my cousin, who then sends me 3 at a time via my shop and ship address. Never had an issues except once when she sent me a piyo video with it as well, and they sliced open the pack to see the video and consequently sliced one bag of Shakeology as well. Not much fell out, but for the price you pay, I hated to lose any! As well, I know there is a guy here in Abu Dhabi who sells it from his home. I bought my first pack from him, then figured I could save about $25 per bag total in doing it myself... And help my cousin at the same time, who is an active beach body coach. It's been about a year since I contacted him, so assuming the number is still valid... 971-50-542-9979. Good luck!

I have bought the shakeology mix from a guy locally in abu dhabi. Not sure about Dubai, but you can contact him and see if he ships to you. On Instagram he is shakeologyuae and his whatsapp number is 971-50-542-9979. It is 650dhs per bag. Super expensive, but I tried to do this cheaper, but saved very little. I opened a beach body coach account, under my cousin in the US who is a beach body coach, and paid $110 per bag, but there is also a $15 per month coach charge for the account, then had my cousin ship it to me 3 bags at a time. It wound up costing me about $75 to ship three bags through my aramex shop and ship account. In the end, I wound up paying about 550dhs per bag, so there was some savings... just a bit of a headache. I haven't tried any of the programs, though. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to import videos here, thinking they have to go through customs and then checked for content blah blah. I just use the shake along with gym classes. Flavors, I think vanilla is the best and most versatile. Chocolate is super strong chocolate taste, nice but strong. Greenberry is disgusting. Haven't tried the others yet. <em>edited by momof3 on 13/01/2015</em>

Our family has been to Disneyworld numerous times, but never stayed on the resort itself. The money we saved staying offsite, we were able to spend on the tons of shopping in the area! However, a friend of mine always stays on the disney property itself, and says it is so much easier as all of your shopping can be sent back to your room and it is easier to come and go throughout the day if you want to leave and come back later. Last summer she stayed in the one that has a mary poppins theme...floridian... i think. She said it was amazing! Pools were lovely, and everyone had a great time. She has children (9) ranging from newborn to age 18. Previously she stayed in a resort by the downtown disney area, but she said it is much easier being on a property with monorail or ferry access vs just bus access. If you have a little princess, then be sure to book one of the princess dinner/breakfast, ect. We took our girls, when they were younger, to the dinner one at the floridian and they were absolutely thrilled! Food is just average, but you are paying for the experience. Book early (many months ahead), as they fill up very quickly, and if you want the character bkfast/lunch in the cinderella castle inside magic kingdom, I'd say maybe 6 months in advance if you are going in the summer. We were always too late to book the one in magic kingdom. Have fun!!! It is our favorite vacation spot! <em>edited by momof3 on 11/01/2015</em>

I know this is an old thread, but since one of the recommendations was the trichologist in dubai, I thought I would share my recent experience. I have had overall shedding for probably 2 years now, but pretty much blew it off, as I know that some shedding is normal. About May/June of this year, I colored my hair very dark... that is when I really saw so much scalp showing through that there was no way my shedding has been normal. I started taking hair and nail growth supplement that I bought from GNC while on vacation in the US over the summer, and bought a shower filter. After 4 months, my hair looked nicer and my nails were stronger, but my hair was still shedding like crazy. Finally, after so much googling, i found the trichologist in Dubai. I went for an initial consultation, and came home with some shampoo and hair tonics... about 1700 dhs worth. It was expensive, definitely, but I have to say, that within just a couple of days, I noticed that my hair fall was much less than before, and by the end of 3 weeks, it felt like i was getting back to normal. In my second appointment, 3 weeks later, he gave me more of the same products and said just to keep using them as it will take time. Also, this time around he gave me some vitamin supplements for an added boost of iron, selenium, etc. I have been happy with the clinic and the results thus far, except for one thing. After getting home with my very expensive vitamin supplements, I started googling the vitamins and discovered that I could buy the exact same products online from the UK or the US for 300-500% cheaper. That is not a small markup, that is HUGE! One box of 90 day supply, he was charging 350dhs for, I found online from the UK for 15pound, and in the US for 30$. One of the hair tonics he gave me, I found it was actually a bit cheaper from him than what I could buy in the US, but I was just shocked at the supplement price. Now I understand why, during my first visit, a lady was trying to get a refund for one of the supplements she had purchased. Overall, I am happy with my results from my treatment at the place so far, but my only advice to anyone going to see the trichologist... DO NOT buy vitamin supplements from their office. Find out what he is advising for you, and purchase it elsewhere.

There is no way to "extend" a residency work visa. Only renewal. She does have 30 days grace to leave the country once the visa expires, or to get a new visa. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to cancel her visa and send her to oman and apply for her to get a tourist visa.

Technically speaking, the sponsor can subtract the costs of her sponsorship from what she is owed if she quits early. If my maid quit early, she would walk away with nothing. I do not think this is true. I was under the impression that it is illegal to make a person pay for their sponsorship costs, even if they quit early. You need to go and look at the contract you filed with immigration as to legally what is required, and if it is vague (as ours is) then consult immigration as to what she is owed. I'm pretty sure you have to pay for her ticket, but doubt she is entitled to anything more than her days worked for her pay. Be sure to tell her that when she quits before her contract is complete, that there will be an automatic ban on her for future work in UAE, I think 1 year. Maybe it would convince her to just finish out her contract and then leave.

Why not just have you husband cancel her visa immediately prior to his going on business. She will have 30 days to leave once her visa is cancelled anyway. That way you can just put her on the plane with the visa cancellation already done.

She only has to come back through an agency if you send her back to the Philippines, because it is their rule, not a UAE rule. If you send her to Oman, Bahrain, Kish island or somewhere, then all you will need is the pink entry slip for her return.

If you fry the shrimp using Japanese Panko bread crumbs it will be much tastier than using flour. We use sriiracha chili with mayo, sesame oil and something else... will have to look it up. We bring the chili paste from Thailand :D ... but I have seen it at Spinneys on occassion. Good luck, and hope it turns out great!

Just emailed you the documents. Let me know if it doesn't go through for some reason. I went to the Philippines embassy myself to do the paperwork as my maid had left on an emergency when her father died earlier this year. The only documents they wanted were the 1. Information Sheet 2. Undertaking of Employer 3. Employment Agreement. They were all supplied by the embassy. They did not ask me for the contract from immigration at all. Maybe it is different between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, though... not sure. We did this at the embassy in Abu Dhabi, and her visa is from Abu Dhabi. I completed all of the paperwork and had them certified by the embassy, then sent them to her to complete the OEC in Manilla. The only other document that they wanted in Manilla was a hand written not from me stating that she still works for us, and will be returning to our home to complete her contract. I was able to email this to the OEC headquarters in Manilla. I signed all documents on behalf of my husband, who is the sponsor, and gave them a copy of my passport as well.

You don't give them the uae labor contract. There is an employment agreement supplied by the philippine embassy, along with 2 other documents, that are needed for the OEC. Leave your email address and I can send them to you. Went through this earlier in the year.

I would make sure she is actually legally married, with a certified marriage certificate that has been stamped in UAE... that way, at least she won't end up in jail if she gets pregnant. If she does get pregnant, though, even if you are not forced to cover her checkups, you will probably be guilted into it. Also, on a housemaid visa she will not be able to deliver here and will have to leave back to her home country by 6-7 months max. Also, in the meantime, you will probably feel guilty having a pregnant tired sick maid doing all of her normal work. Also, if she is living in your house and her husband decides to come round for conjugal visits... how do you feel about that? Or, if she then asks to let him start living there as well. I do not know her husband's situation, but it wouldn't be the first time that a live-in housemaid has tried to move her husband into the employer's home. You must know, that it is illegal for him to stay in your home if he is not in your employment. Could be an expensive chance to take. <em>edited by momof3 on 08/09/2012</em>

Go from 4pm till nightime. Earlier its too hot but I guess if you stay in the water nonstop it wont be too bad. Doesn't it close around 7pm, or are they staying open later now? If it still closes at sunset, then would be a big waste of money not to get there until 4pm.

Can someone please report back after they've been to IHop? Curious how they compare to the US, and if they have the full menu. Specifically, do they offer the smart and fit, lower calorie options? My tummy is grumbling thinking about their breakfast! Thanks! Can't say the 'healthy' options they offered in the States seemed too good for the diet anyway-might as well go for the yummy ones and blow the diet! Try the red velvet ones if they offer them here. Really wicked. They have a menu in the US that offers more calorie concious options, under 600 calories per meal. If I remember right, those red velvet and new york cheesecake options are about 1200 calories for the pancakes alone. Probably taste great, but as hard as I have been working on my weight and health, no way I'm going to blow it that bad :D

Haven't heard anything like this, but if anyone has unpaid tickets, would probably be better to take care of them and not risk waiting until you arrive at the airport to deal with it.

Looking forward to the collective wisdom on this one! Our wonderful maid has been with us for 6 months and just today told me that she plans on getting married this summer. We were going to give her leave before the end of her contract, Dec 2012, but hoped to have her back and renew her contract. She is from Sri Lanka and this is an arranged marriage. When we talked about it, she said she wants to return but was noncommittal. I need help on a few things: - Any intel on the culture in Sri Lanka? (i.e. will it be her decision to return or her family's/husband's) - Any tips on incentives to get her to return? Do bonuses work (like a signing bonus when she renews) ? - Anyone else had this situation? If so, is there anything else that I should worry about? If she has only been with you 6 months, and not due her annual leave until Dec/Jan time, then how exactly is she planning on getting married this summer? I believe that once she is married, it will be up to her husband whether or not she returns. However, even if she does return it is possible that she could return pregnant and you would then be stuck sending her straight back home. This actually happened to a friend of mine (not the pregnant part, but similar). Her maid decided to renew, and went back on her leave just after the renewal. She never mentioned anything about getting married. When the maid showed back up, she announced that her family got her married while she was on leave and within a week started pretending morning sickness and wanted to go back. Turned out she wasn't pregnant, but that her husband was not happy with her being gone and wanted her home. It was a miserable situation, and my friend wound up sending her home and starting over again. Big expense and headache.

WHAT IS EXIT CLEARANCE?!?! It is a paper that Philippino maids need from their embassy in order to return back to work here. Without it they will not be allowed to board the plane in Manilla to come back. We got one a few months back for our maid via the embassy in abu dhabi. You need her passport, sponsor's passport, (your passport as well if you are going in place of your husband) 3 forms provided by the embassy filled out. You have to pay fees totalling, I think, about 300 dhs and wait for approval. Ours took about 2 hours.

The US Vehicles can be tricky at times... like when a car accident happens and destroys the entire side of the vehicle. Parts had to be shipped and took a couple extra weeks That happens if there's a lot of damage whatever the type of car. The US-made cars you can buy here come off the same production lines as the ones sold in the States. All they do is put the Arabic writing on the door mirrors and make it go "bing!" when you hit 120Km/h - that's all that "Gulf spec" actually means. We brought 3 cars with us from the US nearly 4 years ago, and have never had any issues with them. I smacked up one, and had to have the running board replaced. It was easy and cheap.

Oh I didn't even know this was needed. My helper went home to the philipines for a month 3 months after starting with us. No paperwork was required. How long ago was that? As far as I know, the exit clearance has been in effect for at least 2 years. It is required by the Philippines government in order to let them back on the flight in Manilla to come back here. Even those who try to trick the system by buying round trip flights to other countries, and then separate tickets here, have still got caught and had problems. They are getting more strict.

It will come directly to you here in UAE. When I last ordered from them, they had a flat $20 shipping fee, so worked out much cheaper than sending to my shop n ship account. The only downside was that they shipped the item with the electronic tag still attached, and it took me about 10 different stores here until I came across one that could remove the particular tag.

My friend has a live out that she pays 2,700 per month all inclusive. The maid pays her accomodation at 700/mo and deals with her own transportation and most meals. (She does take lunch at the employer's home.) Employer of course pays the visa, medical and national id fees. She works 6 days a week, 7:30-5:30 <em>edited by momof3 on 09/06/2012</em>

The way the article reads, it sounds like they will still need to have the exit clearance, but will be able to do one and keep it for the entire length of their contract. Now, they are only good for 60 days, so the worker has to get it and travel there and back within the 60 days before it expires. Now, they could get one at any time and travel at anytime until their contract expires. Not sure how many people that will help, cause I don't know many maids that travel more than once during their contract period.

We have never paid extra, outside of the spending money for buying herself keepsakes. The workload is less, and she has the experience of new countries and attractions that she would never in her life be able to do on her own. Our maid has been to the US to Disneyworld parks, all over Europe to parks and historical sites, shopping, etc. She is always in tears by the end thanking us for taking her to these places. Give here a few extra days off when you get back if you feel the need, but I really think most of these ladies would love the chance to travel and would not expect increased compensation while doing so.

What about going to the Sharia court here and explaining your situation. Maybe they would do a Sharia marriage for you, and then you can file it with your embassy to also be valid in your own country. That would save a trip to Cyprus. Pretty sure in the Sharia you have to have your father present, but not positive.

You can get a certificate from the court here, I think it is called a ' continuance of marriage certificate' (I don't know how to translate it properly). You will need 2 witnesses and then go to the court and ask them to give you this ceritficate, you will see a nice judge who will attest everything for you. It [i'>SHOULD[/i'> work. DOn't panic. That's interesting... I wasn't aware of such a procedure. Maybe there is a way out then :-) I know this because my friend was married in the US (an Islamic wedding) and when she arrived here they had to get re-married, but in fact it was not that, I found out years later, it is like a marriage confirmation. edited by CAPTAIN AMERICA !! on 22/05/2012 My husband and I were married in the US, and he did the continuation of marriage thing here as well, in order to get some of our paperwork done. (He is local) However, whenever I gave birth here, and did my son's birth certificate through the hospital, they did not want the continuation paper. They requested the certified copy of our original marriage license from the US, which was stamped by the US Dept of State and the UAE embassy in the US, and then translated into Arabic. It may be different since you guys are not from UAE, but really, I would consult an attorney to be safe. Is your continuation certificate also attested? I guess the best thing to do is try to get this continuation certificate, get it attested and take it to MOFO and MOH and see if they will accept that. I cant believe how stressful this is. If DNRD had not accepted our unattested muslim marriage certificate last year we would have not become complacent, gone back to UK and got it sorted. I have no idea if it was attested by any ministry outside of the court ,or not. Who would attest it? It is a court document that is stamped by the UAE court system. Inshallah it will be an easy process for you, though. The guys you are talking to are probably just as confused as you are, since they probably have not come across your exact situation before.

Alis is it like the one in mirdif city centre ? Or more nice ? We can live kid inside as we do here in dubai , or what ? Thx Alis But its ok for my kid is 4 years old ? Is it right what i heard thats LV more less than Dubai ? Yes I saw very young children there in the Cite De Enfants, 4 is a good age to take them. [i'>On the ground floor is the brilliant Cité des Enfants, with imaginative, hands-on demonstrations of basic scientific principles in two sections: for 2- to 7-year-olds, and for 5- to 12-year-olds.[/i'> As for shopping, not sure about prices now, as it was a while back when I went. You would definately not want to leave your children alone in the science museum. It is a massive building with many areas, and lots of people.

Oh my GOD I'll change the plan or what ! I'll go in the end of june , it's raining there at that time Anouja, Just another couple pointers. Most central hotels don't have private parking. I don't know if you were planning to use public transport, but if not then you may have to get a hotel outside the city. Another thing, the last time we went to Paris it rained the whole time, and as lovely as Paris is, Paris in the rain with 2 kids is difficult. If that happens I would definitely say Science Museum, as walking around the parks, Seine, Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees in the rain won't be a memorable holiday ;) . We went to Disney in the drizzle and didn't enjoy it much. We went to Paris 2 summers ago (youngest children were 5 and 6), and stayed for over a month. I don't remember rain being an issue, except maybe a day or 2. Depends on how long you will stay. The kids did enjoy the science museum, Louvre bored them to tears. They loved walking around the streets and seeing the sites. They also loved the trip to Versailles... not so much the castle, but the garden outside is awesome. We spend most of the day out there renting bicycles, pony rides and just wandering the gorgeous grounds. Disney was OK, but nothing compared to the one in Florida. Boat ride was mildly amusing. Tuilleries garden was nice for just hanging out and getting ice cream. They had carnival rides at night. We did a lot of walking! You will find lots of beggars in Paris, many on the Champs. The lady beggars are pretty quiet, but the men can be quite aggressive at times. If you are Muslim, they tend to be more aggressive... since many of the beggars in the streets are from Muslim countries they try to shame you into giving to them. If you want to go up the Eiffel Tower, be sure to book your tickets online at least one week ahead. The lines are unbearably long if you just want to walk up and get tickets on the spot. DO NOT let your children put their feet on the seats anywhere... metro, trains, etc. This is a big NO NO, and they will very rudely point that out to you. LV is not going to be cheap anywhere you buy it, but it will be slightly cheaper than in UAE. Also, the biggest thing is that you will find a larger selection there than here. The store on the Champs is massive! Nothing there is cheap. Even McDonald's was pricey. We bought very few souvenirs, but spent our budget on experiences. Have fun! Let them watch plenty of episodes of Madeleine before you go, and maybe they will be able to pick out places that are in the cartoon.

Fondant is YUCK!!!! Buttercream definately, or sometimes we just cover our cakes with cool whip (dream whip) and fruit. I think a lot of these companies use fondant because it is easier and takes less skill to create nice designs (even though they taste bad). Fondant is like playing with sugar play dough. I have yet to eat a fondant cake that actually had moist fresh tasting cake with a nice flavor. <em>edited by momof3 on 01/05/2012</em>

why do people need to take the maid for a family day out ? i know lots do...i just don't get it... We have usually taken our maid in the past because then my teen DD has someone to ride the big rides with, as my DH and I do not necessarily love them. DH usually would take one younger child and I would take the other. She has done the same when we took her to Disneyworld in Florida and several parks in Europe. It is nice to know that she is having a good time, but that my daughter is with an adult. Now, we have 2 maids since moving to a larger home and having a new baby. The new one asked to come along too, and I think she will have fun. As my DH won't be there being ladies night, then it will be nice having help with the younger ones as well. Everyone has their own reasons why they do what they do. Some you may agree with, and others not. C'est la vie.

There is no good airline! Some airlines wont let you book with a UAE credit card too. Most of them charge for luggage so be careful. We fly to the US business class and then have to watch who we fly with or we get stung for having so many bags. I have just book a little US trip for June and we are flying American for all legs as it is the cheapest, bags are reasonable and the flights are normally OK. Where are you heading? Congratulations :-) When we travel back home (US), then we try to book our domestic flight through the international carrier so that it is all one itinerary. This way we have always received the international baggage allowance on the domestic flights. We usually use American Airlines inside the US.

I don't see anything on the website about a reduced entry rate for maids. I am also wondering for myself. I have been to the ladies night. I remember it being well lit and the atmosphere was good. Great. Thanks. I had never heard of a reduced fee for maids for anywhere, actually. Even when we went to Atlantis, she was just another paying customer. I told my friend that it didn't make any sense that she would have a normal paid ticket, and then somehow not be allowed to participate. However, she insisted that this is the norm here because of an old mindset. I figured that she was mistaken, but just in case want to make sure.

am confused as to why you would ask the question if you are going to paying full price - it's not like they ask you for residency visa or job position on the gate I am asking the question, because my friend told me that even if I pay full price for her to enter that they may not let her swim since it has happened to her at various beach clubs in the past.

A side question... We are going on a ladies night, Thursday. Since I have never been, am wondering how is it like? Is it a good atmosphere and well lit?

i think she means teh reduced entrance fee for maids - not as a full paying guest. Oh, didn't know there's such a thing. I didn't realize that either. I will assume, then, if I am paying for a full price ticket, then the nannies shouldn't have any issue.

Yes, just make sure you provide her with a proper bathing suit. Great. Thanks. They have proper swimwear, so will make sure they bring it with them.

my friend just told me that she doesn't think they let the nanny's swim there since she has been to several beach clubs that do not allow it. What made your friend think that? Since she has been to several beach clubs that did not allow the nanny to swim, then she was assuming that Wild Wadi would be "old school" and follow the same thinking.
