Ladies, without writing out all the details, my pregnancies are considered high risk on two-fold, my family has a strong history of full-term stillborns and I myself have had two premature births -on some level i think this is divine intervention and am thankful for it.. So, i'm looking for a doctor that specialises in high-risk pregnancies.

For $8 and if she'd save $72 I'd definitely try it and see.

A friend of a friend is a midwife there, I've heard only positive things about Al Zahra. I delivered my second in City in December - worst experience of my life, gave birth in a storage room in the hospital because the nurse and my OB didn't listen to me when i said it would be quick.. loved the midwife-led way in the UK and have heard that Al Zahra is based around the same working practices.

59hours!!!!!!! OMG how did you handle that? Hope you had a nice strong epidural through out coz I know I would have needed it! FYI, my second was born just more than a month early, and my labour was over and done with in an hour and a half. Also FYI, I won't be having another baby in Dubai. Awful experience. Am just thankful that I'm a strong woman that labours well -coz I had to do it all on my own in what I can only describe as a storage area in City Hospital. -wasn't a happy bunny.

Gatwick Express is fab. It's 30mins non-stop service to London Victoria. It's £20per person one way... There is also another service run my Southern Trains. It's a 32minute service, it stops at Croydon and Clapham, that's only £10.

She charges 200 which is a little expensive but the fact that she comes to the house and you don't have to travel wearing any spray tan mess is priceless. My tan usually lasts around 7-10 days -if say more like 10 coz I'm hot on the moisturising. I love St Tropez too but I always found it a shade of green - plus you have to leave it 8hrs where as this one is a fab golden tan and like I said it was only on for 90mins before I could shower.

Thank you ladies. We are registered with RERA and Ejari.. As ever, you've all been so helpful. Do we still need to inform the landlord that we wish to stay next year and if so, do i have to do this via a particular route i.e.. in writing, through our original estate agent, or some type of 'notarised' service?

Cleo4e, glad to hear that you're back home where things make a little more sense. What advice has your OB given you? Are you on bed-rest or have they said until dilation just carry on as normal.. is there anything they can give you to prolong the pregnancy? My consultant here offered my cyclogest, in fact he prescribed it to me however after having read a bit about it online i've decided to take the chance and let my body do the work. I already find myself second-guessing my obstetrician, questioning whether i really need extra blood tests, and whether my husband required blood tests. Because the medical care here is ultimately a money making machine, i wonder to myself, if i did have a pre-term again would I question the doctors advice, and i'm pretty sure that if NICU was required here i would have a nagging in the back of my mind as to whether it was truly necessary. -have i just let my mind wonder a few steps too far?

Hi sweetie, I have been in the situation you are in, however, unlike you i did not fully understand what was happening at the time. I gave birth to my daughter (now 2yrs) at 33+4... she was iddy-diddy-small but she was healthy and content. For about 10 days leading up to labour I knew something was happening -but it was my first time round so I didnt have much to base my feelings on, or compare it to, but i was aware of something going on. It started as light backache -the type thats easily forgotten about if you're watching a good film or looking round the shops, then i experienced a small but regular loss of pinky mucus over the course of 5days or so. Then about 3 days before i had her i was at home when i started to experience what is technically contractions -but i wouldnt call it that because it didnt hurt -anyway, i went to the hospital, they checked me out and said it was measuring but it would more than likely stop and id go full term. Then, on the day before i had her my backache was more prominent -i was taking my driving test (yes at 33+3 -the poor examiner probably passed me just so i was out of his car incase i did pop) and i had to stop mid-test and stand up to stretch it out a bit - i got back in the car and i was fine. ... Next day i woke up as normal, just lazing round the house, and as i woke up from a snooze at midday my waters popped and that was it, BANG i was in full swing labour. i had no painful contractions before that point but boy did i know about it once my waters had popped! Labour was on in full force.. Called the hubby and he drove me to the hospital.. i was there only about 3hours when it was time for me to get on the bed and start pushing.. before i really had the chance to think (or abuse the gas&air or anything else) i was holding my daughter. It was 5-6 hours from very start to very finish. Now pregnant with my second, i have been given only a 10% chance of carrying full-term and have been told (by UK consultants) that realistically i should keep a home-birth pack at my house -because they thank that i will go into labour so quickly that i wont have the chance to even make it into hospital (which is only about 20mins from where i live in the uk) ... My issue now is, do i stay here in Dubai and risk a premature birth -one that may even happen on route to the hospital, or do i head back to the UK where i know how things work and where home birth isnt illegal (as it is here?) -- in fact, now that i've written this out i may go ahead and post it online to get some other ladies opinions on this.. Cleo4e - i wish you all the best in whats left of your pregnancy -which presumably wont be much longer now! ... Please let me know ho you get on at your next OB appt. ps. my baby was born at 2kgs, she had no steroids to strengthen her grown and development of lungs but she was borh happy and health and didnt need any NICU care -thankfully!

I lived in the Bonnington for a year and loved it -the location was fab and the service great, however space may be an issue with 2kids (I only had one 1yo) .. We also looked at the Marriott (& we have friends living there) and I think for space and location it is probably a better move for you by the sounds of it.

If this is a social group meeting (at someones house or a playcentre) i, personally, would confront the parent of the child and ask them to keep a closer eye on their offspring. If you see these issues arising I would intervene and kindly explain to the other child that what he is doing isn't very nice behaviour. If its a structured play group with teachers etc i would take the issue up with them.

Oh dear. What a pickle. I don't have any advice for you I'm afraid but I didn't want to read and run. Have you sought advice from your embassy? I think it's terrible that you're in this position. If you were married before you arrived in Dubai and have since had your baby I don't think it's at all fair that they even think there is a case against you. You haven't done anything wrong since being here in Dubai so how an they prosecute!?

Hi A1984. Is there a history of prem babies in your family? If not i wouldn't worry too much. My first little one was born at 33wks+4days. We have a long history of small prem babies in my family. Now pregnant with my second I will be flying 30wks and don't plan to tell the airline any of my business. I think it's a personal choice, if you feel comfortable and relaxed go for it. Trust your instincts. edited by MrsRayner on 11/05/2013

Eeeeeekk! It's so exciting! Thanks for all the info. I will have a search through the threads and see what hospitals I could pop on my short list. How are you doing with any pregnancy symptoms littlelou? With my first I had the worst sickness, I didn't really feel the nausea but I would throw up very unexpectedly and in the most embarrassing of circumstances! I know it's only early into the pregnancy but I've thrown up one today and won't be surprised if this last the whole time as it did with #1.

Hi Milly, sadly I can't really help but I didn't want to read and run. It's great that your spirits have perked up and you're feeling ready to put yourself back out there. Maybe you could just drop into conversation with him that you're glad you're ready to head back onto the scene but you don't know where the scene is, and see if he gets the hint. -knowing men though he'll probably need it written in 7ft letters. I hope other posters can help. :)

They usually allow you to bring a child seat on board. I'm sure it'll be fine. If they want you to put it in the hold you could always have it shrink wrapped at the airport. That's what I did with my big Maxi Cosi Axiss and it didn't damage. :)

Every child is different and I wouldn't pay too much attention to 'empirical evidence' my little girl loved hers.. She was in it every day. She was born 6weeks premature yet walked at 10months and at 11months she was running around unaided. .. She is now 20months and IMO she is quite advanced for her age group -not taking into account that as a premie we were told she COULD be slow developmentally.. So I would say if you want a jumperoo and you LO likes to be in one then Defo get them. Try ToysRUs on SZR, mother care -and if you're not too precious about things being 'new' then try dubizzle. :) HTH
