We had one - Karcher. While it did the job of vacuuming and steam mopping, I hated it. Too heavy and cumbersome. A huge inconvenience when I just wanted to vacuum a room or do a small job. It's a whole event to set it up and clean it up after. I also found the suction power to be quite weak. The wire was also too short.

Can anyone please advise where I can get my ears syringed? I've been using medication for blocked ear from the pharmacist to no avail and now feel sure that syringing will be the only remedy Thank you I've always gotten mine done at the doctor's.

As pp mentioned that I don't want to wait until he getsout of it or not. I don't know the pros or cons but it just started recently. he used to be on facebook by the end of the night but lately im pretending to sleep and I see that he sees... I know it might become addiction but I don't know how to start... I hate to think that he might start communicating... and our marriage is too good to break it or atleast I see it that way. Do l give it to him in the face? I saw you yesterday bla bla bla bla or do I just be nice and joke about it? Again how can I make sure that he doesn't do it in secret? There are accountability software that you can subscribe to but with his knowledge and his permission. When I confronted my husband, I did not joke about it. I told him I was hurt. He said that many guys do it. However, I did not accept that as something that is ok for my family. I must say it was an uphill climb to get back to restoration because I felt betrayed and my self-esteem plunged but the road to restoration, which included accountability, talks with friends and counselling were well worth it. Freedom from it and even addressing issues that led to his going to those sites really helped our marriage and our own selves. My husband is no longer going to those sites. And THAT should be the norm.

I hope this is the right place to share this! if not please let me know. Im heartbroken an dI don't know how to react. recently ive realized he's been on instagram constantly especially at night. he doesn't post any but he goes through pictures... He's staying awake to do this all night and I feel like ***t. we've been married for sometime with 2 kids and recently after giving birth to our second baby I felt that I need to get on my feet and do more for him, I don't know why the sense of urgency struck but things became better, then it went down again as we don't have time for ourselves alone. Now this is what he is doing, girl, boobs, ladies etc. Do I talk to him or just let it pass? and when is the right time to talk to him?! and how do I start it? shall I be aggressive or show him how much Im hurt? It hurts. And if not stopped, will corrode a marriage. I know there are different opinions here but for me, I would bring it up. Porn is never welcome in a marriage, in a family. "Just looking" often leads to addiction. Some men get out of it fast but some don't. And you should not wait to see if he gets out of it fast. I would tell him but I would not be aggressive. Yes, you should tell him you hurt. If need be, counselling would be of great help. Maybe there is a root to this that needs to be addressed. Thinking and praying for you...

has anyone been in this situation before? I have. I miscarried our third and no matter how hard we tried, we were not been able to conceive. We did not try a few months after the miscarriage. And when we did, I was always faced with disappointment. Like you, there were months when I thought I was pregnant because I felt nauseous, my breasts were really tender, etc...very similar symptoms to my previous pregnancies, but the tests always came out negative. I've gone for tests and I am ok. My husband hasn't so I'm not sure if it is him.

To justify coming here, you should look at the following criteria: 1. Improvement of lifestyle 2. Save money If one or both criteria can't be fulfilled, don't come. Exactly this! We would not have come here if we were earning 24K a month cos it just would not satisfy the criteria Notnew mentioned. I do have friends who earn less that 24K, have no housing allowance, no school allowance, no flights back, and they are living well! They came because coming here was an improvement of lifestyle and they are able to save money.

I use goggle maps off my smart phone too, always handy to use when someone send your their pin location via whatsapp too :) A car charger for your smart phone is always handy to have too. Apps like this do drain your battery, so best to be prepared. If you buy another device, its also a case of yet another gadget to look after, and maintain.... Agree with many about google maps. I use it more than I use our GPS. I also agree with Diamante. I have a car charger AND a power bank.

My SIL was here last year for a visit and she was breastfeeding exclusively. She had no problems nursing in the mum and babies room (which is by the washrooms in most malls). There were armchairs she could sit on. Other times, when there was no facility, she covered up and nursed.

Gulf News Report: All schools in UAE have been instructed by the Ministry of Health to provide the vaccine free of charge to all children between the ages of 1 to 18 even if they have been vaccinated earlier. Only those children who have a doctor’s order of contraindication to the vaccination can be exempted. http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/health/uae-schoolchildren-to-get-measles-vaccination-1.1598882 Very curious to know why it's mandatory.

Just to update in case someone asks the same thing in the future. GCC residents and visitors on list 1 are allowed to apply for a visa at the consulate. However, due to the Eid holidays, there was a deadline. So in the future, if anyone wants to avoid border line-ups, do apply early (at the consulate) for your visas.

We have friends who tried to do this last year and they were told that, because they have British passports and can get a visa on arrival at the border, they could not pre-arrange visas through the consulate. They were told that this service was only available for those who had to have a pre-arranged visa in order to enter the country. Of course, this was last year and things could be different now ? Thanks debliz. I was actually thinking that may happen. No one is picking up the phone still so heading to the consulate tomorrow morning to ask.

Can't help with which doctor but I had a sebaceous cyst on my leg when I was 10. It grew to about the size of a ping pong ball. Our doctor took it out. Then about 5 years ago, I had another 2 on the same leg and although they were the size of a marble and a cherry pit, my family doc still took it out. Very simple procedure and the scar from when I was 10 has faded and is unnoticeable.

Make sure to buy a fleece sweater/shirt. No matter how thin, fleece insulates and will help keep you warm. Make sure to cover up ears and neck. Definitely snow/waterproof boots. Wool socks. We usually wear usual clothes, then a fleece shirt/thin sweater and then our coats. Thermal pants, then pants, wool socks and snow boots. Fleece hat, ear muffs or a fleece band over the ears. I've put open face balaclavas (I've heard them called monkey hats here) on my kids as that would keep the ears and neck warm.

I've resorted to buying our cakes at the store for less than AED100 and decorating around the cake. So for a CARS theme, I put the cake on a race track mat with the cars around it. Or you can make it look nicer with those fancy candles that spell out happy birthday and then stick some sparklers either in the cake or stick in some pot. Sometimes it's all in the layout; what's around the cake and not on it.

I'm surprised your maid didn't send everything by cargo. We have a few Sri Lankan nannies in our area who usually send a huge box home by cargo. They plan to send it a few weeks before they leave so when they arrive in Sri Lanka, the box arrives at the same time they do.

There is a reason behind that. It is something to do with their language but I cannot remember the explanation . I think its funny when they call me sir. I look at my chest and say "really" they usually crack up laughing and apologise It's because in Tagalog language their is no male and female differentiation, so they often say "he" when referring to a female when speaking in English This is only if the 3rd person is used. But Sir or Madam is different. It's like Mr and Mrs. Filipinos know which one is masculine and which one is feminine. Sir and Ma'am are used in the Philippines all the time. They know the difference. Why do they say Sir and instead of Ma'am? Could be slip of the tongue... could just be careless, thoughtless...

Not sure if it's the same as the UK but for us (we are Canadians), when I pay in CAD dollars, it's seen as a cash advance and so I get charged a cash advance fee. But if I pay in DHS, it's seen as a credit payment and I do not get charged a fee. Take a look at your bank statements and see if there is a charge when you pay in pounds.

Maybe a printing press would give a better price? Most have digital printing facilities and would be set up to produce large quantities (unlike your day-to-day photo shops). I've never tried personally, but could be worth a shot. I've worked with Atlas Printing Press and Emirates Printing Press (both in Al Quoz) over the years in the publishing industry, and both are good (they've printed/print mags like Harpers Bazaar, Viva, Conde Nast Traveller, etc). I was actually thinking of going to a printers as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

I completely understand. The first few months were difficult for me. However, when I went back home for a holiday and came back to Dubai, I felt much better as I came back to a familiar place. I still miss home. It feels like 7 months of the year I am ok with being in Dubai and then after that I start missing home terribly and can't wait to go back for our annual holidays.

I also moved here a couple of months ago after being in Dubai for fours years and I'm still not used to the fact that everything is so freaking expensive, it's ridiculous. The Singapore forum for expatwoman is dead but there is a good fb group called Real Singapore Expat Wives that's as good as it gets in terms of info. Having a car is also very expensive so it's better if you live close to work/school or MRT stop. I'd suggest you to avoid buses if you can as drivers are a disaster and half of the time you'll be praying for your life :( I wouldn't know about kids schools prices as I don't have any and I certainly won't have them here, but from what I heard the best way to go is to enroll them in a local school. Happy to help with more info if needed! I grew up in Singapore and went to a local school. There were a few of us expat kids there. It was hard initially but eventually got the hang of the way school is there. We paid very minimal fees.

Mumto2 that's more my price range, where do you shop? edited by Puddle31 on 20/01/2015 I go to Union co-op, lulu and C4. We used to go to the Fruit and Veg market but it did not really work well for us. We get our fish from the fish market. This budget does not include eating out and if we did, we usually head to the food court. I have also learned to make sure to finish what has been bought before going ahead to buy some more. There was a time when things were really tight and I told myself to use everything in the fridge and pantry before going out to buy more. Whatever we had (canned, frozen and fresh) lasted us 2 weeks! It was pretty amazing. There was no waste, we still had good, nutritious food and we still ate well.
