Hi again,
As far as homework is concerned I am finding it to be quite ok - I know of some parents who feel that it is too much but for us it is ok. The school has quite a clear homework policy which you might be able to locate on their website. My seven year old is expected to be doing 10minutes of reading daily and homework should take no longer than 25minutes per week (no home work over the weekend).
KG2 has no formal homework but they ask for 10mins of reading everyday.
I don't think that the work load in class is excessive, my son who hates writing, has started to enjoy it based on the fact that it doesn't feel like "formal" learning to him - it is just part of a fun activity.
Hope this helps a little.
Cheers.
Hi Luar,
We have both our kids enrolled in an IB school PYP and we haven't looked back! I can't compare to any other curriculum's though as they started their schooling whilst we have lived abroad and have only attended IB schools.
If you have a look on the KDHA website they have a document that lists all of the schools and which curriculum they follow.
We have our kids at the Greenfield Community School out in DIP and are very happy with it. Level of communication is great, the learning is fun, and most importantly my kids are excited to go to school everyday!
Good luck!!
Hi Londonmum, If you can make the coffee morning at Emirates Hills Golf Club on Thursday I am planning on going. I also haven't been here very long and have a 7 year old son. Would be great to meet you if you can make it.
My son had to sit an "exam" for grade 2 recently for an IB school here. Was a two page document - first page was -
My name is ___________________ (student required to write name)
I like to _______________________
This is me - (draw picture)
Second page was shape recognition, a few math questions, clock face asking to draw on time that was written.
I feel like there was another question that I have since forgotten! But that was basically it.
