We were fortunate, a fitter from Clarks in the UK was over and he gave us a fitting, went back to the same shop 2 months later and they measured DD far to big, fortunatly I made her try them on. This might help you get an idea before you brave another trip. http://www.startriteshoes.com/fitting/measure-at-home We use Pablosky in MCC and they always measure. do they measure width as well as length? Pabolsky in MOE measured length but just said DDs feet were "puffy" and they only had one width fitting?!

So this morning i asked for a recommendation for where to buy my daughters 1st shoes. I went shopping for them this morning. Here is what i found: Clarks (MOE and MCC) under maintenance so closed Ecco - dont measure the childs feet - the lady wanted to remove the insole of a display pair and use that as a measurement! Mothercare - only measured length not width of feet Geox didnt measure feet at all Pabolsky tried to measure the length of DDs foot while she was sitting in her buggy, when i took her out to stand and get measured "shockingly" she was a whole size bigger than the sitting down measurement. also didnt measure the width. Shoe Citi looked confused when i asked them to measure DDs feet Carters asked what age she was as a determination of what size shoes would fit! Another shop - which i forget the name - i was clutching at straws by now - picked up a pair of shoes and measured the outer sole agains my DDs foot. SO..... it begs the question - what is everyone else doing with regard to 1st shoes????!!! I always thought length and width should be measured?!?! Thanks, confused and p1ssed off

Hi, I know a lady that runs baby music massage/music classes in the ranches. Also have you heard of Ranches Mums? They are on facebook. we meet every monday at 10-12 in the playpark in Alma. They also do a playdate at Extreme Fun in Motorcity on a thursday 10-12.

There was another man in the restraunt who seemed to be shouting at him (the boss) in (possibly) Arabic. I spoke to the waitress to see if she was ok but she was trying not to say too much and kept looking over her shoulder. Poor girl was sobbing for about 30 mins before we left

I have been to Extreme Fun and have to say its rather good for LO's. There is a notice on the counter to say how much it is for 1 hour 35dhs, and how much it is for 2 hrs 55(?). Once you are in you can use the area for 6 months-2.5 yrs (IMO)and the area for bigger kids 3 years + (again my opinion). I have been able to use both areas and not had to pay twice?! As for the machines, ive never drawn attention to them and theyve never been mentioned.

I have seen a lot of this going on too. i have a squad of maids that congregate outside my door with dogs - they stand there chatting for god knows how long and the dogs are sitting/lyng there in the sun bored. I have moved them on a few times but they just congregate further up the road. Also see a lod of "lead yanking" going on.

It might be different with your DH there. I've only done the line trips with a 4 month old at the time and 10 month old. I stayed with family as my house is rented out and I didn't have a car for one of the trips. I did have to laugh the last time I went home (January) my SIL didn't think there was any problem for me to come down and see her for 2 days.... I explained to er that 5 different trains, a walk through central Glasgow, a suitcase, a buggy an a 10 month old was pushing it for y stress levels and practicality. She took the huff and hasn't spoken to me since!! Family's! All that money, effort and time to see them and that's what you get! Excuse the spelling, on iPod- tiny buttons :) edited by notheragain on 29/02/2012 Wow does your sister have children??? yes, JShepherd she has 3. they are 12, 16 and 24 so i guess she has "forgotten" how much extra effort/stuff you have to carry/plan with a baby in tow. Also she has never done an international flight with them.... in fact they'd be lucky if they've ever been out of Scotland! But thats her choice to huff. p.s she is my SIL not my sister.

No I don't consider it a holiday, holidays are supposed to be relaxing. I usually end up trying to keep everyone happy dragging my DD to all corners of Scotland to visit family. We are usually put in the same room at best whih results in my DD capering and that knocks out er sleep for the next 2-3 weeks when we do return to Dubai. Let's face it the weather in the uk is cr@p and although we have to dance to everyone else's tune, nobody bothers to take a day off to spend time with us so we fit in round their work whih involves late nights for DD and boring days for us. A holiday is a break from the norm so in that respect I guess you could loosely describe going home a holiday, but for me, it's a stressful drag.

Thanks Green-ish, my daughter is alomst 12 months old. I was assured by a pharmacist in the UK snuffle baby would be fine for her. I've tried olbas oil but find it a bit harsh on my nostrils let alone hers? Just wondered if anyone had seen the rub in the pharmacy?

I had one at Welcare last March and unfortunately my Anesthetist wasnt very good, im afraid. I was obviously in labour and bent over into position ready to have it in my spine and she tried at least 4 times to put it in. She had to call a technicial down to assist. Afterwards one of the midwifes commented that she was surprised at how much the doctor had struggled, so I wasnt very happy. I had had an epidural before in the UK and my anesthetic got it in first time. So my experience here wasnt very good. However, I had a brilliant doctor who was there through out my delivery but unfortunately getting the epidural in isnt his dept.Apart from that Welcare is a very good hosp in all other areas. Hope that helps. I could have written this post. Same time last year, March. it was a lady, i forget her name but she was in and out with the needle about 4 times before getting to the correct spot. i now suffer back pain - maybe just a coincidence? but i didnt have backpain before pregnancy.

Hi coco pops, We have just moved into Layan from the Ranches. its definately a different sort of feel. I love the fact we have the gym/pool/sauna/steam room/playpark/picnic area. My DD has just been offered a place at the nursery too. So far we havent met many neighbours and *it seems* everyone keeps themselves to themselves. The Choitrams has just opened and even has a p0rk section. Havent tried the salon yet but will now after DubaiCats recommendation.
