1. when you started dreamfeeding how long did it take before you noticed any difference in the waking patterns? We started DF at 6 weeks and used this as a good timeto introduce the bottle (expressed BM)we would put a few drops on her lips and wait for her to respond if not then we would gently try to rouse her enough to feed.We stuck with it till 7months old. Eventually she would open her mouth the moment we lifted her and would get angry(with her eyes closed) if we didnt get the milk in fast enough! 2. did you wake your LO to dreamfeed or keep them asleep and did you feed directly into the cot or in your arms? We lifted her out of her cot and sat on the bed in her room in the pitch dark at first but i do have a picture of her on holiday in a bar getting her DF then going straight back to sleep in her pram LOL!!! 3. Did you burp your LO afterwards? I held her upright and gently rubbed her back until she passed her wind even if this meant she woke up a bit as if i didnt then she would wake up or be sick. If the baby is gassy, be careful what your diet is. Garlic, chocolate, brocolli, fizzy drinks can give a breastfed baby gas. We did 2/4/6pm feeds then DF at 11pm 2am 5am and then again at 7am At 8 weeks 2/4/6pm DF 11pm 5am then BF at 7am at 10 weeks 2/4/6pm df 11pm then bfat 7am (2/4/6pm we cluster fed) edited by nutty on 03/07/2011

In answer to your question (i have not read all the other replies to this thread)... I had a great experience with sleep training with Cecile. We started at 6 weeks or DD would have been returned to the hospital as all she did was cry. I though i had a faulty one lol! Anyway, we put her down at sleep cues and settledher after a few moments she wouldstart to cry so we let her cry for 5 attend for 1min and so on up to 25mins then i would refeed her, do anything to get her to sleep and then try again at the next nap. This went on for short of a week until we just popped nher in her cot and said goodnight. At night,it was a lot easier to implement a good routine so we never had to do it at night and she slept through from 10weeks 7pm to 7am with an 11pm dreamfeed dropping first the 2am feed and then the 5am feed. She is now 10months and i have been back to see Cecile about different things but for now the sleep is good. I felt trully supported throughout my whole experience and if you are not comfortable with the cry it out method then she does try to helpyou find an alternative. I have known what my child cried for for a very long time to the point she only now cry's if she has hurt herself. What a difference to the baby we brought home from the hospital.

We used the baby whisperer EASY routine from 6 weeks, Eat, Activity, Sleep, You. Feed them for say 45mins, change nappy, dress, play up to 1.30h after waking then start to look for sleep cues, sneezing, staring off, face rubbing, yawning and pop baby into bed. We always said goodnight to Mr Sunshine as we closed the curtains and had a cuddle before putting down into crib. I would stay with baby until calmly lying in crib and then sneak out, if baby started to cry would give afew mins before going back in. We didn't use a dummy so would show DD her thumb. This could continue for up to 25mins. Cry for 3 me going in to settle her without lifting for 1min then cry for 5 and so on. After a few days the crying stopped and off she went to theland of nod by herself. If she got really worked up then i would refeed her and then do whatever i could to get her off to sleep and try again at next nap time. Oh and we also used to cover the pram with a blanket when out to block stimulation. edited by nutty on 03/07/2011

Wow thats alot of organising... I used the TT travel system where youput a capule of required amount of formula into each bottle, take out and pour and used as i needed. They do have formula on the AC but only 1 can per flight and i dont remember the brand. They have a bottle warmer on board and also an industrial microwave on SOME aircraft typres. Iused to ask for the bottle to be heated in an unused teapot filled with hot water. They also supply baby food but can range from Hero to hipp. Usually just a stage 1 puree in friut and/or veg. In dubai you can take your pram to the gate or use one of theirs and check yours. Dont think you will get your pram in SIN unless stored on the AC and you will have to have a tiny pram for them to do this and be travelling in first or business. Take a sling. The basinet only holds upto 24lbs or 11kg MAXIMUM. My DD was out of this at 4 months old due to her height and children are not allowed to sleep on the floor. I would ask if there are any free seats at check in as the armrests on the bassinet seats are not moveable. Hope this helps a little and you have a lovely trip home.

Thankyou for the advice ladies, i omitted to mention the hospital name as not to scare those opting for this paticular hospital as its been around a long time and has a good reputation. My friend will make sure the doctor responsible will take account for their actions and if not then i will for sure let you all know the hospital and the doctors name. Thanks again.

Ladies my friend delivered safely a baby boy a few weeks ago after 28hours in labour. At hours 22 she asked for an epidural. The needle was pushed too far into her spinal cord so that it punctured and she ended up unable to even move her eyebrows, when she started vomitting she was choking as she had no control over her neck muscles. The epidural was "fixed" by another doctor and eventually turned off so she could deliver naturally. The next day she was unable to even lift herhead from her pillow as they hadn'y realised their mistake and my friend was in agony.Eventually theyrealised the mistake and my friend was given very strong drugs to help with the pain. During this time her nipples have started to bleed from mislatching the baby and there is no lactation consultant available as all their midwives are fully trained, although my friend says no one showed her when she asked and she was in not fit state to seek further assistance. Before being discharged the legal team came to visit and said she had signed a disclaimer so the hospital was at no fault. She still has only part feeling in her legs. Does she have any recourse? TIA

I bought a brand new Nissan in 2008, when found out i was expecting bought the isofix base as expected my car to have the brackets as the car is only made in the UK where it is a standard. Of course my new car didn't have them. So contacted by email Nissan Europe and recieved a call a few hours later from the UAE manager who organised for the brackets to be shipped from the UK and was fitted within a few weeks. Our waranty was still good. This was handled by the Deira branch next to CC. It can be done!

Had a wonderful time in Delhi, Jaipur, Agra etc. Eat where the locals eat and avoidDelhi Belly! The only place we got food posioning was in a western resteraunt, grrr! Didn't pay the bumped up price to get into Taj, paid the local price based on the theory we dont charge by nationality at Edinburgh castle, did take a bit of arguing though! Take an empty suitcase for all the goodies and get lots of leather boots, coats made to measure for peanuts. Enjoy!

Welcome Hedley! With regards to your query, these 2 places are quite far apart (about 45km) so perhaps somewhere in themiddle would be good. I would look at the Downtown area/business bay(nearDubai Mall). There is a range of apartments in oldtown or Exective towers etc to suit your budget and is near a metro station that would take you to the greens area from where you would have to take a taxi to DIA (may be on a bus route) around 30/40mins with bus/metro/taxi. It would be around 20+mins in a car in the opposite direction for your DH. Hope this helps a little. Good luck with the move.

Dont set foot on the Seychelles, its a dump with very nice scenery. If you decide to go think mars bar for a fiver and take enough funds accordingly. Have been few times with work and stayed in different 4* resorts (think 2*). Also they only accept Euros and $ because their own currency in worthless, could even pay for groceries with it.

I love TA but be wary of the persistent moaners who rate a 5 star a 3 star for stupid misgivings. I always like a hotel whose management answers negative comments, shows you they care about public perception. Have used the site for about 5 years now and highly recommend!

Work wardrobe; knee length skirts, light material trousers, heels and smart flats for the metro walk.Capped sleeve blouse, light weight shirts, camisoles if sheer. (Better to have shoulders covered at work) Smart suit jacket. Weekend: light weight maxi dresses, short sleeved cardigans (malls are cold) jeans in winter, combats, linen traousers, vest tops with pashmina avoid spagetti straps. Must haves; nude bra and knickers. Cotton better,as cant imagine nylon thong inthis heat! Strapless bra's as lots of summerwear. Good bikkini or 5, sarongs, flip flops. Smart linen trousers, GHD's. Velco rollers. Dont bother with; skincare unless brand isnt available here ditto make up. Sunscreen cheaper here as are most toilettres. Bring your winter coat unless you want to step off of plane and freeze or just buy another here.

My DD was fed on demand until she established a routine, however we did clusterfeed in the afternoons to give her enough calories to go through the night once she was ready. I learnt to read her feeding cues early on and did not shove a boob in her mouth every time she cried rather looked for the real cause of her upset. I was not for or against CIO but as it happened we didn't need to do it as DD went back to sleep of her own accord when she woke in the night and was settled( not given boob). Each child is an individual and as rightly said should be trated as so. BTW Cecile never gave us advice that didn't fit with our own beliefs and there is 1000+ expat mums who will vouch for her methods. Perhaps book an appt and go see for yourself before passing judgement on her methods and philosophy.

Can you ask to your midwife where is this rule coming from ? Can she show us any medical serious study regarding this ? Thanks a lot ! My package is finished with my midwife so wont see her till No 2......But mentioned her name below if you would like to give herv a call and ask her. Anyway, what i said below worked for us, DD slept through from 10 weeks on BF with a dream feed at 11pm till about 6/7months when she started solids 3x day we dropped the dreamfeed and has continued to sleep through 5 teeth. Day sleeps we still struggle now and again with but overall have a contented baby and a very contented well rested mummy. Thats what counts!

I never said to refuse a baby food, i said that i was told once over 4 kg's then it is physically possible to for a baby to go throught the night. My child certainly never cried for hunger! We did however invest the time in teaching her good sleep habits which is one of the hardest things i have done. That said from 10weeks she slept through and has continued to do so throughout teething, rolling etc We done it under the supervision of professional advice with bi weekly progression meetings up until she slept through (with a dream feed). My point was that if this is what you want to achieve it can be done. I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting a baby to sleepthrough as soon as possible esp if returning to work or other children in the house. Each family will work out whats best for them.

My midwife told me about being physically able at 4kg rule.My DD slept through the night on BF alone from10 weeks and was 4kg at birth. When i asked about this i was told it can take that long to get into the swing of things and develop good sleep habits. My friend brought her DS home from hospital 2 months ago and he slept 7 hours straight from birth in the night and now does 12 hours with a dreamfeed at 10.30pm. Lots of my friends who all saw the same midwife are in the same position so sounds a bit more normal to my ears.

Social circles dubai have a website with an outdoor club, look them up and see what like minded people are doing over the summer. Failing that, indoor wall climbing at various locations, mall walking in the morning, dragon boat racing at 5.30am, get on the metro and take a look around the place. Summer surprises starts next week so have a look online to see what they have lined up.
