Hi Swils, you can go anytime between 7am and 7pm. It's very hassle free, you'll need some ID and they'll do a pin prick beforehand to make sure you have enough heomoglobin. It does only take 10 minutes for the donation but you will be kept there for a bit to make sure you are ok. You'll be there max 45 minutes. But you are right in not going for a while until you are feeling better. :)

There are questions on the questionnaire regarding how long you have lived in the UK post 1980 but I believe if you didn't have transfusions then it's fine. If you are in any doubt or have any questions at all, please call the number on the link, the staff are very knowledgable and helpful. :)

The blood donation centre is fantastic. They will immediately take a pin-prick of your blood and analyse it to check your type and to make sure you have enough hoemoglobin to donate. It takes less than an hour of your time and the staff there are SO grateful and friendly. it is a beautiful sunny day here with little white clouds - no haze or dust at all. Just been in the swimming pool and sitting thinking about how many different languages I heard being spoken around us. Had a lovely breakfast & chatted today with friends from all corners of the globe. There's nowhere like Dubai!!! Welcome in advance to the UAE. :)

A nice article in all the newspapers this morning, on how HH Sheikh Mohammed visited the Blood Donation centre yesterday at Latifa (Al Wasl) hospital to donate blood. http://www.newzglobe.com/article/20120119/sheikh-mohammed-leaves-everyone-amazed Come on people, let's save some lives :)

Am only passing a msg on but well done everyone :) 3 month reminders is a great idea By the way one time a local chap was there he said he goes once a month (or 6wks or something) because apart from saving lives he said it is si good for your body as all your blood cells regenerate and makes you feel good :)

I just thought of how this can be resolved :) (not sure about backdated but let's say going forward) The service charges are paid through Dewa like housing fees are! There is a separate section fpr service charges and which company they are ultimately passed on to (nakheel, Emaar ettc) Who pays this is sorted out between ll and tenant at start of contract and rents reduced accordingly to the tenant if required etc. If it is not paid then electricity etc are cut off within a month in the usual way that Dewa would operate if not paid.

I am not sure, there must be a reason why the negative groups are required :( Only 1-2% of the population have -A, -B or -AB so they are very rare in the first place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type

Hi, I've just called them and it's ringing out, I think they work office hours. Just noticed they have a FB page so maybe that can be passed around too. Let's get the word out! [url=http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=108727048281&ref=search&sid=100000283636575.2230020045..1'>link[/url'>

There is no link. They called me because I am on the list of -A donors and asked me to go asap today. when I asked them if they would like me to spread the word they said yes please and also to say -B and -O. You can ask your DH to give them a ring if he would like further info.

Not sure on the visitor status but from the website You are not eligible to donate blood if you: Are sick (cold, flu, sore throat or diarrhoea). Have taken antibiotics within the last five days. Have had dental work within the last three days. Are anemic (Iron Def. Anaemia). Are pregnant. Have had any ear/body piercings, or have had a tattoo, within the last year.
