I am sure some airlines won't let you fly with 2 under 2 by yourself. Hopefully some Emirates person will be on soon. I think Sandfly has come up against this one when her two were little.

Thanks for updating your post. Not a lot of people bother to do that and it's all useful info for others. Glad you found the Kathmandu Guesthouse OK. I felt awful recommending it after others slated it but we enjoyed staying there at either end of our trip. As you say you are right in the thick of it there. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip!

If Mirdif isn't too far then there are stables in Mushrif Park. Once you've mastered the basics in the arena it is lovely to go for desert rides in the park.

We did our processing in Al Barsha. We live in AR. I collected mine and the kids cards today from Al Warqaa PO. DH has to go to Al Ras PO in Deira! Not easy when he works long hours in Jebel Ali!

Is it true that in these cases you have to pay in advance anyway and then ask for a refund? Umm - What refund? If the fault/problem is on your plot then you or your landlord are liable. It can be very hard getting this sort of money out of a landlord. As the DEWA is in your name, you are the one who has to pay. It's awful!

Not microdermabrasion but if you look on the competitions page there is a competition and info (and photos) about a peel that sounds great. I wish it gave info about the cost though.

The lice can jump from head to head with close contact but, as someone said, shared hats can also allow them to move to a new head. Nursery/Early years dress ups often have hats so they can be easily passed around.

Thanks Heyjude. The directions sound v clear. I'll head there this morning. DC2DXB, I think the CPO is the Karama one. From Sh Zayed Rd follow the signs for Maktoum Bridge and then, after the Trade Centre, bear left for the Ruler's Court. It is up there on your right.

Pokhara is also great but I would fly there from Kathmandu rather than drive/be driven. It's not a great road and the driving/overtaking is v dangerous. We saw quite a few accidents!

If you want to stay in the centre of the hustle and bustle then I would recommend the Kathmandu Guest House. It is an oasis of calm and has a range of accommodation options. It has a cafe on site but is also v close to loads of great eateries and loads of great shops for outdoor gear.

If you have any friends or relatives coming from the UK or Europe the pods are much cheaper there too. I just bought pods in Spain for 15dhs for 10. They are almost twice that here.

You can get small 2 man tents v cheaply in Carrefour. You are welcome to borrow ours if you like. It is very easy to roll up and carry. We are also in the Ranches.

Hi I'm doing the Dukan. In Choitram Green Community we have oat bran (cereal section, orange cylinder), Total 0% fat greek yoghurt, virtually fat free cottage cheese, Onken fat free vanilla yoghurt, Onken Fat Free strawberry (with bits) and rhubarb (yaay!!) I started Oct 1st, and so far have lost 13.5 kg lost, 12 kg to go!!! It is a great diet, and the consolidation and stabilisation phases are the parts of the diet which appealed to me. No other diet provides this level of rehab back to normal eating patterns. Wow Loube - well done! Keep it up - you're doing great. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies so far but i think what you are all recommending is the rolled oats ie. porridge which is a complex carbohydrate. Oat bran is the outer hsk of the oats that are not used in porridge. Supposedly, according to Dr Dukan, oat bran is a source of fibre without the huge carb hit. Still searching...... I was also definitely giving info about Oat bran. The brand Spinneys has in bags is called Mornflake Oatbran. I bought some at motor city Spinneys last night.

Le Marche at AR usually has oat bran in boxes in the cereal aisle but didn't yesterday. spinneys Motor City has it in bags in cereal section (altho none of the staff know when you ask them)

You will get many varied opinions! There are some housing compounds close to Internet/media city. Do you have a housing budget or does it all come out of the package? School places could be your biggest headache? Primary school places, particularly for 4 year olds, are quite hard to come by at present. Yes, I would say grocery prices probably fairly similar to waitrose in UK (we have waitrose in Dubai too). You can keep grocery costs down by buying more local products and less imported products. People can probably give you more info on other costs like utilities etc. buymeapony put together a great spreadsheet when she was looking to move here. Sorry - this reply is probably way too late. You go past AR and carry straight on, past Al Waha/Layan on your left, over the Dubai Bypass Rd and then I think it is the second roundabout. It is the first one where there is a tar-sealed Rd you can take anyway. Hope you found it!

Head out from Arabian Ranches towards Bab Al Shams (mind the speed cameras). Take a left at the roundabout (I think the first roundabout). http://www.blingmytruck.com/blog/4-nine-days-off-road-deserts-beaches-and-mountains.aspx ) Scroll to the bottom of the blog for details. I think it is the second roundabout. It is a paved road to start with (and for quite a distance). Just go through the gates that are always open. Lots of great camping spots there.

Not all schools have a Sept cut-off date. I believe that Uptown School in Mirdif has a December cut-off date. My friends daughter started KG1 in September but only turned 4 last week.

There is a nice spot just off the Emirates Rd on the way to Ras Al Khaimah. You head up towards RAK, past the turn off for Dreamland. You take the turn off to the right that is the truck Rd to the east coast, signposted Fujairah I think. Just after the first little bit of hill there is a turn off on the right that tames you down though some trees into a huge open area. There are lots of tracks you can follow, easily doable without a 4WD. We have camped off the right at the foot of the dunes but you would need 4WD for that bit. Loads of area to choose from and trees to pitch near for shade etc.

The Organic shop and cafe has 2 branches as Sydneygal says. One is in the Greens, in a slip road of Sheikh Zayed Rd in the new Dubai area and the other is in Dubai Mall. They have a website if you google it. You could probably contact them via that to see whether the product is in stock.
