Today I found fat free cool-whip in the frozen section at Lulu's (close to MOE). it is a bit synthetic tasting on it's own but when you mix a couple of spoonfuls into a pot of fat free natural yoghurt it is divine! Like eating creamy custard.

From the age given it will be reception or FS2 in the British system. What does that equate to in the American system?

Hi Kells Bells I think I may have met you at one of Sandfly's children's parties. Get her to give you my number. Look forward to seeing you in September. I'm away next Tuesday and back 3 Sept. Best of luck with the move. How nice to be able to walk to school in the cooler weather :) Plum edited by plum2 on 06/07/2011

Hi, welcome to Saheel. I think DEWA bills vary hugely whether you are home during the day with AC on, whether you have a pool and how much garden there is to water. Our bill can be well under 2,000 in the winter but we have a pool and a large garden with lots of trees to water. The summer bills are obviously a lot bigger. I think we have a leaky pool at the moment which is under investigation so wouldn't like to shock you with our current bill - yikes! Which street will you be in? Yell if you need babysitters as I have 2 teenagers keen to work. Away from next week though for the rest of the hols. Plum (do you know Sandfly?)

As it gets hotter the AC has to work more just to keep the inside at the same temperature. Could that be responsible for the increase?

The Total 0% fat Greek yoghurt is 14.50 a tub (single serve) in my local Spinneys. Today I bought a local made Nadec 0% fat natural yoghurt from Lulu's - delicious and, at only 1 dh for the 170g pot, a bargain! Edited to add: I've been mixing a little stewed rhubarb into the natural yoghurt for variety and it's really nice. You could add sweetener if you needed to but I find it fine without. edited by plum2 on 04/07/2011 edited by plum2 on 04/07/2011 edited by plum2 on 04/07/2011

Hi I'm still sticking with it. I had a major lapse the last day or so of school with all the party food, leaving cakes etc. Back on the plan now. Even went out for my walk at 6am. Seem to be eating an awful lot of chicken! Love the oat bran porridge for breakfast (with some rhubarb and from age frais. Yum!)

Have you any idea where you will be living? Will it possible for one of you to do one school run, and one the other or not? This would give you more options. Quite a lot of dads drop their children at school on the way to work.

I found some rhubarb in Spinneys at Town Centre. I stewed it just with water. I had some mixed with fat free fromage frais last night and some with my oat bran porridge this morning - delicious! No sweetener needed at all. It made a very nice change. edited by plum2 on 27/06/2011

I found dried Goji Berries in the organic cafe. Rather pricey at 217 dhs a kilo! I bought a few and soaked them overnight to add to my porridge. Quite nice but not a huge amount of flavour. I wouldn't bother. I also soaked the oat bran overnight and it made heaps more porridge.

The Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre takes donations of these to sell at their regular sales to raise money for resources. They are a school for children with special needs. They are now closed for the summer but I am happy to take the donation on their behalf and pass it on in September. I am in AR but may be able to pick up from other locations if that helps.

Goodness! That must have cost you a small fortune. I would certainly be seeking a second opinion. Like many on this board, my children had their braces throughout the Nicholas and Asp postgraduate orthodontic training school in Healthcare City and we were v happy with the whole process, the total cost and the excellent results (7K max).

I agree Arohadxb. It is the slip road from the Green community / DIP area direct onto the Emirates road that they have closed for no apparent reason. Noone was working on anything today. It took me 50 mins to get from GC out onto the roundabout! Anyone living in GC will need to allow a lot of extra time for the school run in the morning ( if they are heading out of GC).

We've never used a drier in the 11 years we've been here. I work and don't want washing out in the sun all day so I use a drying rack in the Laundry. The washing either dries overnight or dung the day - very fast!

No not seen them plum, but I haven't been looking for them. Are they allowed on our dukan diet? Yes, they are allowed from cruise. You can mix them into your oat bran porridge, or your natural yoghurt. I thought it sounded nice. I'll post if I find any.

Take Dubai Mall exit from Sh Zayed Rd, the ground level one on the right, not the elevated one. Go up to the lights which are level with the far end of Al Murooj Rotana and make a U turn. Come back and the hotel will be on your right. Not sure where their acces to car parking is at the moment. It used to be on the sand in front of the hotel.

There is a male pool and a female pool in Mushrif Park (mentioned in the Time Out article). I went to use it at 5.30pm the other day while my daughter was riding, only to find that it was busy with 'training'. The man said I couldn't swim until 7pm. That was a Monday. Maybe worth a call first if you are thinking of going.

Have you joined the dukan site plum? No I haven't signed up for the coaching because I will be away for 6 or 7 weeks, travelling around in NZ without easy Internet access or access to the same set of scales! I will try and keep it up over the summer and may sign up on my return to see me through consolidation. I have a bit more to lose than you so am not likely to get to my true weight until late August.

Another tip! Nandos chicken! yummy Btw are we allowed to have sweet chilli sauce on attack phase? (I think I know the answer, but keep hoping its ok, lol) No! As you guessed, you can't have any of the Nando's sauce - just plain grilled chicken. Same goes for the Cruise phase sadly. This specific question was asked on the website chat session recently so I know.

Stuffed Green/yellow/or red pepper: add some spray oil (0 calories oil) cook the mince meat+onion+garlic+parsley+tomato(optional) in a pan, u can add any spices u like Once the meat is cooked, stuff ur pepper with all the above, put in oven until the pepper is cooked and tender Delicious! Thanks for the recipe. It sounds great and would be lovely with some fat free sour cream. Someone mentioned buying that at Lulu's so I shall go searching this weekend.

Well after a whopping 4+kg down in the first week, the loss was a miniscule 200g this week. Maybe a blip on the scales. Maybe it's evened out, as 4 1/2 kilos over 2 weeks sounds much more believable. Maybe I need to be stricter. I have been having low-fat (not skimmed ) milk at work, maybe 4 cups a day. My 0%fat fruit yoghurt does have fruit bits in it and I haven't been exercising every day. I'll try upping the exercise and bring some skimmed milk to work. Overall I'm sleeping so much better and feel good (and thinner) so it's all positive really.

How many children would be in this school? I think it's a small school, so say 2 classes of 24 per year x 8 years (FS1 to Yr6) That's 384 children x 1200 dhs = 460,000. What do they have? One full time doctor and 2 nurses? Plus the increase in all the licensing fees for the school and all themedical staff ( these have all increased). Plus all the medicines, plasters etc. Probably not an unreasonable amount to cover costs. Of course if there are a lot more students then it seems like a bit of a money making enterprise.

I might be wrong, but if churros are what i think they are (french tasty fried things, served in hotels for BF) than i've doubts they'd sell them in mexican restaurant ...and you don't think the Spanish had any influence in South America?? I'm sure I've seen them on their menu with the chocolate to dunk them in - just like in Spain! edited by plum2 on 19/06/2011

It's not a residential centre, just a day school. So it's summer holidays for them just like most other kids. I said staff finish this week because the students actually finished last Thursday. Long holiday for them which is hard for many parents. edited by plum2 on 19/06/2011

Jenna - just re reading your post. Wow! Have you lost almost 28 kg since November? That's a supreme effort. It's great that you've done so well so quickly with Dukan when you had obviously just lost a lot of weight anyway. Stick with it 4 lbs to go is nothing. Is that to your true weight?

Mishmash I was 71.3kg on the 9th May and I am now 64.4kg, should be introducing bread and a few more carbs by 1st July (my target is anything below 63) you'll probably find that you get there a lot quicker than the chart on the Dukan website says, but its nice to have a guideline Wow Jenna - that's 7 kilos in less than 6 weeks. That's great, and it's not like you had heaps to lose either. Have you stuck to the diet rigidly? Are you doing PP/PV alternating? Thanks for posting. Your success is very motivating! I was struggling yesterday although I only succumbed to a small bowl of oat bran porridge as an extra snack. Only had a half bowl this morning to compensate so hope I haven't done too much damage. I did feel very bloated this morning. I must buy some good digital scales. Anyone got any recommendations? I have to admit I am having the C4 0% fat fruit yoghurt (without added sugar) even though they have some small fruit pieces in which is not strictly allowed. They are so yummy and one a day is my real treat. They keep me going. I also froth up the skimmed milk to make a nice frothy coffee which is nice.
