My Breastfeeding shawl is more like a poncho! So it looks like a normal top that i just drape over me! It takes a few times getting confident b'fing in public, but once you get the hang of it, you will be fine!

Try Navidoxine - you can get it over the counter and should you have severe morning sickness, most Dr's would prescribe this!

I have the Medela re-usable ones, and don't really like it! They are thick-ish and move around in your bra as there is no stick-on! They also make my breast feel as if they cannot "breathe" if that makes sense?!?! I actually have the Lilypadz but did not know they can be used for leakage :) I keep them in the fridge and use when i have engorgement. You can get them at Premaman in Dubai Mall Meals! <em>edited by plumie on 01/02/2011</em>

Where the h*ck have you been??? I've missed you on the board and often wondered how the two of you are getting on? Please update!!! I can't complain much about the b'fing, it has been hard work, but DD has taken to it well! Apart from the usual challenges (and the awful growth spurts), we have persevered and she has filled her legs and cheeks nicely ;)

LOL - Leshell!!! We seem to be going through exactly the same thing, at exactly the same time :) Same here! Tomorrow will be Day 3 for no poopy diaper! And yes - a lot of wet nappies too! All very normal for breast fed babies to go without a poopy diaper for 5-6 days! I checked with her Pediatrician on Sat and also with Cecile De Scally today. As long as the tummy is soft, then all is okay! However, if you feel an "olive like" lump in her tummy, then it means there is a blockage and possibly constipated?!?! We should [i'>definitely[/i'> meet up :D

Im also in HR and I hear you! Im constantly told IM a cost to the business, however as I also do training, I advise them in return I facilitate the ability of their teams to perform better thus affecting the bottom line positively! Training - was a monthly battle i had to fight of how i "add value" to the organisation, and normally the first department to get cut when budget restraints hit! Loved what i did, but not the battles i had to fight to get there :/:

Used to buy myself new clothes all the time! It was my addiction, and when I say addiction I'm talking about having the same thing in every colour and owning around 20 pairs of jeans is normal for me! Then I had a baby and anytime I go to a store now its for my DD. Love shopping for her, but seriously need to do some serious shopping for myself, its been too long! I could've written that post - except replace jeans with dresses :D Was meant to go shopping for "me" on Sat, but DD was a bit off, so it is in the diary for next week-end! And i mean a proper shop, where i have too many bags for my hands to hold ;) How many guesses, i will still end up buying things for her!!! :)

I practically lived in dresses as i was pregnant through the sweltering Dubai summer! Loads of maxi dresses and knee length dresses. I bought all my maternity wear online as i refused to pay the inflated Dubai prices :\: Retailers know they can charge an arm and a leg for maternity clothing as the range and shops are so limited :/: My favorites were: [url=http://www.asos.com/Women/Clearance/Maternity/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=6413#parentID=-1&pge=0&pgeSize=20&sort=3'>ASOS[/url'> [url=http://www.motherhood.com/mastercategorybynamerefinement.asp?Category_Id=9003&MasterCategory_Id=9996&Category_Name=&website_Id=&sProduct_sortBy=l&sProduct_SizeFilter=S_&sProduct_BrandFilter='>Motherhood[/url'> [url=http://www.destinationmaternity.com/MastercategoryByNameRefinement.asp?Category_Id=9002&MasterCategory_Id=9996&Category_Name=&website_Id=&sProduct_sortBy=l&sProduct_SizeFilter=S_&sProduct_BrandFilter=&sSearchRefinement=true'>Destination Maternity[/url'> ZARA Motherhood & Destination Maternity online (sale section), is a fraction of the price compared to Destination Maternity in Dubai! Frankly - the mark up is ridiculous!

Forgot to mention - DD is not particularly a fan of car journeys :( I always have to sit at the back with her (her in her car seat) and have my hand on her to soothe her, in case she cries, chances are - she will and does cry! And I make sure she is always fed before we go anywhere, so not sure what the reason is?! Pacifiers - again not a fan (I have about 5 different types at home, she has refused all), but when on journeys and she cries, I put a drop of Gripe Water on the teat and literally have to hold it in her mouth for her until she starts getting comfy with it. She eventually sucks and manages to calm down! I guess this is what is making me so anxious :( Come rain or sunshine - this will be the week I face my fears! Muffins at yours DC? ;) Ps. We have the mirror from Babyshop :D

{{{HUGS}}} to you Novice and all the wonderful Mummies who are doing such wonderful jobs!!! Never, ever did i imagine how exhausting it would be to raise a child and to nature a newborn 24/7! I often beat myself up thinking, this is the only job i have to do, and yet i am struggling and many days, just about manage to keep my head above water! By the time DH comes home from work (not forgetting the days when he is travelling and he does not come home), DD and i are waiting at the door, with me dangling her, ready to hand her over to him :( I sometimes envy DH for being able to get up and leave for the day, but bills need to be paid and food needs to be put on the table! Being at home 10/12hrs a day, alone with a baby is no walk in the park! I was certainly under some fairytale illusions :\: Having alone time with your DH is essential! We had DD in our room for the first few weeks when she was brought home. At the 6 week mark, all of that HAD to change! We moved her into her own room and all of a sudden DH and i had a few hours every night and i felt like we had a "marriage" again! Like i was a wife, a woman, not only a mother. As DD sleeps through the night, from 7/8pm until about 2/3am, we plan to have our first date night in 2 weeks time! Even if it means just going down the road to Starbucks and having a Latte and a muffin - we are determined to do it! No doubt it will be very hard, and there will be many tears, but it will do none of us any good, canoodling her 24/7, whilst all else falls by the way side :\: So, good on you for speaking up and i believe that there HAS to be light at the end of every tunnel :) ps. My DD is only 8 weeks old an i can already relate to your emotions, so it looks like i have lotssss to look forward to ;)

BF'ing is extremely hard work, especially in the early days! To have endured and come this far - is a massive pat on the back already! And like with any job that has satisfying rewards - you would be sad to leave too :( Many, many days, i just want to give it up :/:, especially when DD is having a bad day! Easier said than done i guess, as i know like you, i will be sad too! Only 8 weeks in, and the precious moments we have shared when nursing - i can't yet find the words to describe it! It's a life-changing moment, and you have all the right to be emotional! So take your time, and all will fall back into place again x

. Can you pleae tell me how much it cost, how many sessions needed and could it be claimed on insurace? Thanks in advance Re: the insurance. She is currently in the process of transferring her visa as she has moved premises a while ago. Once all the legalities are sorted, you will be able to claim it back. We are also with Cecile, and have taken the 10 session package which will take us all the way to solids! If her visa comes through during this time, we will be able to claim back everything from insurance :) Hope that helps x

I was at the hospital having my baby! You should sleep Cheeky G. Then you should sleep and sleep and sleep some more. Then you should eat a hot meal at the same time as your husband and watch a movie, because you won't be doing any of those things for a long time!:):) DITTO what LJB2010 has said!!! I am sure you have heard it over and over and over...but you have no idea how precious these sleep moments are - until you have a baby!!! My due date: C-section scheduled for 2:30pm, spent the morning relaxing with DH in our room at the hospital until it was time to go in! It was wonderful, both of us were so calm & relaxed, and could not wait to get the show on the road ;) Edited for bad spelling! See, that is what sleep deprivation does to you - can't even spell the word "the" :\: <em>edited by plumie on 25/01/2011</em>

Will def have to check yours out, interested to see how clear you can see bub, especially at night! ;) It's in black and white, but you can see if her eyes are open, if her mouth is open, you can zoom in and zoom out, play melodies, record her, talk to her - all whilst in another room :D Works for us!

Only lights up when DD makes noise and movement to a certain level and not her every whim! Ontop of that we also use an AVENT monitor as it has a longer range and useful for times when we are sitting in the garden and she is in her room upstairs! http://www.tomy.co.uk/products/digital-video-monitor-tdv450/ You are welcome to come over and have a look at them :)

I wish I had a nanny that I could leave my kids with every day all day. I don't like motherhood. WOW - you surely get the medal for honesty!!! Take a read through the "IVF" threads and you will see how blessed you are! :\: I know. To be honest, I read those types of threads and can't understand why anyone would want a baby. Every time I see a pregnant woman, I think: Thank God it's not me! I am positive, though, that things will get better one day. I just have to admit that I don't find motherhood easy and often think I am not cut out for the job. Am so sorry to hear that you feel this way Anon :( But maybe LJB2010 has a point? Motherhood is tough, tough, tough - and I have only been a mother for 7 weeks now :\: Sometimes I have asked the question: "what have we done" and am not ashamed to admit that there have been very weak moments in these short 7 weeks! Might just be time for you to speak to someone?

DD went into her own room at 6 weeks! She sleeps much better during the night, 12hr stretches with 1, max 2 feeds in between! Settles better and sleeps better in her own bed! And the biggest - DH and I are able to have some alone time - reading, chatting or watching some TV before tucking in! I also sleep much better and so does DH! Sleep is needed for both of us to function properly - him at work and me during the day when i have a baby who refuses to sleep ;)

Daisy - what has the Doctor said when you spoke about your "request" about being with the baby straight after birth? When i delivered via c-section at City, as soon as i was sticthed up and DD was cleaned, she was wrapped up and handed straight to me whilst we were still in the operating room! My Dr also put her straight on the breast as i was being wheeled out into the recovery room! It would be a shame if this is not the case at Medcare as those first few moments/minutes with your newborn are extremely precious and ones that you will never be able to get back. Am hoping that you will also be able to have this experience x

I ought to go back to her. The last time I saw her, she told me to come back once I had implemented the first step. Well, I never could do it and I was too ashamed to show my face to her again. A year later, things are still as bad. :( Don't feel bad or ashamed for one bit!!! And it is never too late! Please do not give up Anon! Schedule the appointment and just do it - go, hold you head up high (not that she would judge you) and start from scratch! I don't think you can have a better person supporting you and being "behind your back" as Cecile! We've only met with her for the first time today, and throughout our meeting i had to hold back the tears as she was just so warm and comforting - i felt i could just let it all out! However, i had to remain composed as one baby crying in her office was enough ;)
