Am a huge fan of Gro-bags and have been using it since I stopped swaddling DD at 5 months. You can buy them on Amazon, http://www.gro-store.co.uk/, www.kiddicare.co.uk or John Lewis. In summer I use 0.5 tog and winter 1.5 tog!

Only thing that worked was an old wives concoction that I gulped down. You take half a glass of apple cider vinegar. Add half a teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper and a full Teaspoon of Honey. Mix all together and throw down your throat! Works great. I will definitely give that a go! DH tried to make my Gran's trusted hot drink (lemon, ginger + honey) last night but it just did not taste the same :( There are no throat sprays safe for pregnancy and it feels asif I have a peice of sandpaper stuck down my throat!

Hi ladies, I am rotten with the flu :( Just krept up on Tuesday night and hit me like a ton of bricks when I woke on Wednesday morning! Have not been this sick in ages, and with not much us pregnant Mums can take...I am suffering!!! Saw Dr Elsa yesterday and she tried to check the gender, but the little one had the umbilical cord between the legs! I told her to only tell me if she could guess 99%, otherwise we will wait to find out at the anomaly scan in 3 weeks time! Oh - and I felt the first kicks already :) Depends how I am laying and it's normally at night! It would not surprise me, as it looks like this little Monster has inherited his/her fathers long legs & feet ;) Will write more and reply to all the mails as soon as I can keep my head up for longer than 10minutes :/: X

Springs 7 (by the Choitrams) and Montgomerie Golf Course have both Montessori Nurseries, run by Raffles. I looked into sending my DD there, but they only take children from 18months+. My neighbours daughter is at the one in Springs 7 and she cannot recommend it enough. HTH

Check your inboxes ladies :D How do i do it - my waistline can answer to that! Lost of sugar intake to get me through the day and DD is cutting her molars, so nights are awfully eventful in our house ;) Ive only been for 1 session so far, so can't tell yet! Lay night I dreamt I stabbed someone with one of my kitchen knives and this i dreamt after 5am as I was up with DD until about 5:30am! So woke up in a frenzy as to why I would dream such a thing?! I am sleeping more solid and seem to be more relaxed during the day though! Meant to have 2 sessions a week, but could probably only squeeze in 1 at the moment! I'm seeing Dr Elsa on wednesday and she will check for gender! I'm 17 weeks so high possibility we could find out! Part of me wants to wait until 20 weeks as then it is 99.9% confirmed but another part is dying to my suspicion confirmed - that it's a boy!!! I had a very strong instinct with DD and she turned out to be a girl...so who knows ;) Congrats on Team Pink Pancakemum - yay!!!

How are all the July Mummies doing? Enjoying the fresh frosty weather? ;) So I finally went for my first acupuncture session on Saturday! The nightmares where really starting to get to me, and instead of having good quality sleep I was feeling exhausted and drained in the morning! So doing a few sessions to help relax my mind and keep these d*mn hormones under control! Had the same with my 1st pregnancy, but nothing as severe as this :/: Got everyone's mail, so will send out a mass e-mail for the first meet up! Will most probably be over the week-end so that working Mum's can join! If anyone else wants to join, feel free to mail me as I will be removing my address soon ;) Update girls!!!

Not a Lactation Consultant by trade, but Cecile De Scally was my saving grace!!! I don't care what some may say about her, but she was there for me during extremely hard & emotional (as we all know what an emotional roller coaster BF'ing can be) times day & night and 100% supported my breastfeeding efforts! **APPLAUSE to all those BFC's and all the Mums who are not ashamed to stand for their cause and help spread awareness**

1. My rule of thumb was roughly 10min as BF'ed babies don't tend to swallow much wind! DD was a very colicky baby and she always suffered from trapped winds. I used a combination of methods - 6 strokes up followed by 6 circular motions, on the knee slightly tilted over supported by your hand and over the knee. When she was slightly older I used a concoction on Infacol+Gipe Water which helped tremendously and had her burping like a 60yr old within 5min. 2. Feed-burp-bed. If he falls asleep on the breast I would try and rouse him again. Stroking the jaw bone initiates the sucking reflex or a gentle tickle under the foot! 3. Yup - no matter what myths there are out there, you CAN'T spoil such a young baby! You are all he ever knew for 9 months and they have no sense of emotion - only their basic needs which are - I'm dry, I'm warm, I'm fed & I'm safe (and you are the SAFE) in his life! 4. All normal! I hurt (more like cringed) with every latch for the first few weeks! Lansinoh before and after every feed was my best friend and also Lilypadz (silicone breast pads which you can refrigerate to give a lovely cooling effect). 5. No idea about nappy rash! Y never ever had one in her whole 13 months of life ;) 6. I used the EASY routine! Worked well for breastfeeding & DD, and was also very flexible. Since DD was a snacker you can adapt the routine to EatActivityEAt(again)Sleep. I only introduced the routine at 6 weeks and by 9 weeks it was well oiled! HTH x (and you know I am only a phone call away, don't be afraid to dial my number!) <em>edited by plumie on 20/01/2012</em>

I am just about to post on the Maids forum... I think full-time help may be the way to go! If anyone has any GF success stories for breastfed babies, I'd love to hear them but I just can't see how her feeding/sleeping routines will work when DD's still BF. I tried it with DD, and it lasted all of 2 weeks :\: With let down issues, engorgement, reflux, snacking (which is common with BF babies) growth spurts which meant on-deman-feeding - DH and I made the conscious decision of persevering & establishing healthy breastfeeding and worked on sleep routines later! Would be interesting to hear of successful BF-GF-Babies...

Mine will be 18 months apart - my action plan - DD into nursery 3 mornings a week...and get full time help, both starting February so that things are well oiled by the time baby Nr 2 comes in July! Going home this trip I could not believe how easy my friends had it - Mom down the road, Aunts, cousins, friends - all in a close radius! Babysitters on standby whenever needed! I struggled with DD in the early days and by no means want to play Superwoman this time around! Nurseries and full time help may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for my sanity, our family's sanity - I need help and a break a few mornings a week from my very active toddler! Something to consider if you have the space, can afford it and comfortable with sending your DS to nursery!

Is an anomaly scan the norm as my doc hasn't mentioned it yet. On Sunday going in for the 12th week scan and blood tests including one for Down's Syndrome. Is there anything else I should ask the doc abt? @ plumie.. lovely idea to meet up :-) but working full time so can only meet up on a weekend! It's pretty much the norm, I'm sure your Dr will inform you fo it at a later stage! It's also the scan where the gender pretty much gets confirmed 99% :) With my first pregnancy we met up on a Friday morning so that is no problem! Will gauge and see if more Mums-to-be are interested and then we can set something up x And a bug welcome Tiptoptoni :D Loads of us who are doing it second time round, so fire aware with any questions as I know how daunting/exciting/anxious first time pregnancies can be ;)

Swaddled until about the same age as the rest! DD just started resisting one night and would mange to half "unswaddle" herself during the night. Stopped swaddling one night and she immediately turned on her side and slept without any disturbances. I resisted swaddling in the early days/weeks, when I picked it up again and persisted - swaddled for daytime naps as well, she started sleeping much better.

Welcome - Liv! And congrats on your pregnancy :) Oh cr*p - I really feel for you ladies!!! It's aweful feeling like that, am so glad I was able to pin point what was exaggerating my nausea! Really hope things settle down for you ladies soon! Niggly - the anomaly scan is much more detailed and longer! If I remember correctly, about 40/45min! There are loads of things they check - arteries, blood flow in and out, organs, limbs, loads of measurements, function of bladder and kidneys...etc Is everyone working or at home? Should arrange a July Mummies get-together if everyone is keen! <em>edited by plumie on 17/01/2012</em>

Easy to clean and wipe down, enough pockets, opens wide enough when you need to have a scratch around, has outside pockets for easy access to water and snacks, clips/hangs easily on to buggy...and is reasonably fashionable! I love, love, love my Storksak and would buy another one in a heartbeat! I may just do that, get DD a new one (she does not need all the pockets and compartments) and hand this one down to baby nr. 2 :D

Just one last option! Some nurseries will let you leave the car seat there so if you have someone different dropping off and picking up then the person picking up can get both the carseat and the child at the same time. That is a great option, however I think the rear facing seat will be fitted into the car!? We still have not received our seat yet :(, but will have a look, if it's easy to transfer then that would be wonderful!

can anyone recommend anywhere good to get measured in dubai? Congratulations on your pregnancy! As mentioned below, Loretta from Blush and Bloom can measure you. Here's an article she has written on choosing maternity/nursing bras, and it includes her contact details: http://pregnantindubai.com/lifestyle.html?start=0&articleid=181 I have an appointment with B&B coming up so that I can get measured! Tired of wearing I'll fitting bras and spending a fortune during pregnancy! Am hoping they can recommend 3 or 4 bra's which will last throughout (unlike the almost 10/15 bra's I went through with my first pregnancy) ;)

Breastfeeding made me pit on weight instead of loose weight! I just went up, and up, and up, and up :\: I craved calories and I ate calories ;) At 6 months pp I started getting active again and started eating very healthy...the scales started to drop! DD was 9 months when I was able to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothing (I was 56kg when conceived and 76kg when delivered)...and then bamm fell pregnant again just as the weight was coming off! The theory behind 9months on 9months off played true for me, but it did not come with loads of hard work towards the end! I did not loose all the weight, but was in the low 60's when I conceived again! So_IndEcIsIve - have you looked at [url=http://www.breastfeeding-diet.org'>The Breastfeeding Diet[/url'>? A friend bought the book and had great success! Good luck x

Try Nelson's Teether, similar to A&P except it's homeopathic teething granules! Works just as well! You can still find A&P powders in South Africa, so I'm not sure where they are getting their supply from?! Another place to get the amber necklace from is Favorite Things in Dubai Marina Mall.

She's 13 months old, alowicious_28! I highly doubt it's teething as she never took to cereal since we starting weaning! When you ladies say "porridge" what exactly are you referring to? In SA we called Pronutro, Jungle Outs, Maize Meal all porridge :\: And what brand? I bought the Plum Baby Strawberry & Banana Muesli/Oats yesterday, mixed it with full fat milk and some yoghurt - opened her mouth to one spoonful, showed a very disapproving face and that was the end of it! What is your take on Cheerios? DD seems to favor crunchy over mushy - so I think this is where the root cause of our problem lies...

I've hit a brick wall with DD's breakfast menu, so looking for some inspiration please ladies! DD does not eat any cereal, I have bought soooo many, but I think it's the texture which she does not like?! I'm a bit sceptical moving her onto "adult cereals" because of the sugar content - so any other cereal ideas would be great! Yogurt - not a fan either! I've introduced it again by just putting the tub infront of her and letting her feed (more like mess) herself! It's going in, so thats a step up already! Coating fruit in yoghurt - no-no either! Toast - philidelphia, marmite, Vegemite, peanut butter - hit and miss as I think she does not like the texture of the spreads against her palette! So currently she has: Egg - boiled, scrambled with cheese, fried, Omellete with a filling Fruit - any fruit which she normally scoffs up! Cheese - grated, babybel, mozzarella sticks - normally no problem She has been starting to turn her nose up to the egg, so I think it's time to get creative and change things up a bit! Do share your menu's/recipes please!!! Think I am suffering from "cooks block" ;)

Welcome Megs79 :D Trust me, and I know this may sound cliche' - but once baby is here, you will forget all about the horrid morning sickness! Heck, look at me - had horrible nausea until late into my pregnancy and 9 months later baby Nr 2 was conceived ;) And I had a list long of some very unpleasant pregnancy symptoms with my first! Try to keep that appointment with Dr Elsa - she is worth her weight in gold! Had my first with her and delivering with her again! Once you are on "the books" getting your appointments will be easier! I only started consulting with her late into my first pregnancy, so it really does not matter when you start seeing her. So, we are back from SA where my nausea completely subsided! One day back in Dubai and bang - nausea back :\: Traced back everything I ate and drank (which was not much) and decided to cut out water (we have a Masafi water cooler at home) and the juice I drank! Bought a bottle of Aquafina today and still had the same juice - no nausea!!! So I finally (hopefully) found the culprit which was elevating my nausea - the Masafi water! So check the things which you are eating and drinking at home, as it could be something as simple as having your normal food & drink which could be triggering the morning sickness!

You could build or look on Dubbizle for a wall to wall floor to ceiling cupboard in one of the rooms to store all your stuff. You couldmsave space by storing all clothing and spare beddings in vacuum bags. That's exactly what we have! Wall-to-wall, floor-to-floor cupboards and opposite, floor to ceiling shelving. But we need to clear out the maids room, to make space for the maid when she arrives! The problem is - where to put everything?! The vacuum bags are a great idea, but again - where to store them? We are in a 1E in the Springs - all rooms are occupied (or will be once the new baby arrives), and apart from the tiny room under the stairs - there is no other secure storage space :(

LMAO-DXB - think the cost was 800 including the CD! I've had Dr Mirza with my first pregnancy and a lady Dr with this scan! I've had no problems with Dr Mirza and a few other Mummies which I know, also had no issues with him! Go with an open mind, take everything which you have read with a pinch of salt, and base your review on your individual experience! Yes - his bed side manner is not the best, he is known to tell it like it is, and won't hold your hand if he has to bear bad news, HOWEVER - he is the best in the business! No need for a full bladder and the gender of your baby will only be revealed 16weeks+! At your 20 week anomaly scan it is normally 100% confirmed!
