You poor thing, what a terrible thing to experience :( I simply hate the trucks on that road! Sometimes you feel like you are getting sandwiched between 2 trucks, going at crazy speeds, and you cant get away fast enough! Thank the Lord you are all safe xxx

Go Scotty, Go Lauren!!!!!! I can't actually decide who should be the next title holder - I love them both! I even cried when Scotty was crying during his home visit - so pure & so innocent to see ;) Hayley - awesome voice, very talented but a DIVA in the making :\:

Yes he did! And managed to chase him down the road before he escaped into the park! Security was useless and only came 15min later, however the police were quite efficient and even managed to cath the wrong guy but let him go when they identified him as not being the "criminal"!

Failing that, a decent daycare/nursery that allows you to pay-as-you-go so you can drop your child off for a couple of hours every other day or some such and run off to the gym which is hopefully close by... Thanks for any advice. The Jebel Ali Nursery at The Meadwows Centre take babies from 18months+ on a pay-as-you-go option for 35aed per hour! I spoke to them last week as I looked into the same, however my DD is much younger, so that option was ruled out :( It's the nursery which is inside the Hayya Club ;)

Choosing a stroller is like choosing a car - Budget first, then practicality, durability and lastly all the accessories and customer service ;) And like a car, it's the experience you get when using the product! Bugaboo came out tops for us in all categories and by far is the lightest stroller there is on the market! Off-road it is awesome, navigating through tiny corridors when out shopping - can not fault it, easy to clean especially when you have had a reflux baby who regularly threw up in her buggy :\:, traveled well on flight and the travel bag is easy to carry and handled knocks well - all in all, well worth the money and a good investment :)

I too agree that its too easy to put your baby onto formula. Make DH do the night feeds and wake up too so he suffers from lack of sleep aswell!! A friend of mine even brags about putting her baby onto formula so that her bf has to get up in the night too!! LOL - at least she is being honest :D And fully agree with your last statement Meals! I know there are a few informal Breastfeeding groups in Dubai, these women are doing a wonderful job - in offering support, sharing knowledge and spreading the "good" news ;)

Why is Dubai so behind (read: backwards) WRT breastfeeding education and encouragement for mum's? Why isn't there a push for ALL malls to have bf-ing rooms? (i.e. Dubai Mall is great but the newer MCC has none!). Why don't hospitals have facilities? City Hospital is noticeably lacking despite having a LC? Interesting question and interesting thread :) When I went home a few weeks back, it was not even a question whether I was breastfeeding, it was just assumed that I was. SA has been in the dark ages for many years, HOWEVER nearly every Mum you meet, whether be 16yrs old or 36yrs old - breastfeeds! And the hospitals do not have the pleasure of having Lactation Consultants on duty! So where does the education come from then? Their Mothers, Aunts, Freinds - possibly? But more so, the fact that half of the population lives below the average belt, so no money for formula, bottles etc. there simply is no choice, and magically breastfeeding works! I find with many things in Dubai - the "blame game" comes into action - "There was no Lactation Consultant on duty" or "I just simply could not be bothered" and hence give up at the first hurdle. This of course exempts women who simply cannot breast due to physical reasons! A very good freind on mine (in fact a poster on here) tried breastfeeding her DS for many, many months, until she eventually surrendered to the fact that it simply was not working for either of them. She switched to formula and automatically things changed 360 for them! For the life of me, I could not understand why she was so persistent, until I had my first and started breast-feeding! I know applaud her for her efforts, as I now know and see the benefits :) An ex collegue of mine is from one of the South East Asian Countries. Flipping through her FB pictures one day, I saw her son, who was 5 months at the time - waving a chicken drumstick in his hand :\: and he was eating it! At six months his mouth was full of chocolate and cream, from a cake that he dove head first in! I posed this question to a midwife over the week-end - Do we over complicate things too much in the Western World with regards to babies and nutrition? How as he [i'>able[/i'> to eat Adult food and not suffer any severe complications, at such a young age?!

I think your LO will also notice a change in flavour too. Why not give both Motilium and fenugreek a try together? Can't hurt. And as LD says, offer as required and your supply will sort it out. Thanks Meals! Cranky is an understatement, but explains a lot :\: Why does nobody tell you these things? ;)

Thanks LD! I kinda knew something was "up" when all of a sudden she started doing longer feeds and more often! I have Fenugreek and have taken it before, but was recommended Motilium during this time, possibly as it kicks in faster and you get results quicker?!

Also a friend of ours is currently travelling outside of the UAE... could get her to pick you up some - think she is in the UK, and she is back end of next week. AP, will check with DC! DD is sleeping from 7-7, however still waking for one feed at either 3 or 4am! Wakes, feeds (normally a super feed, anywhere between 7-10min) back down until 7am! She would be fine during the day, but come night time and she would wake screaming every 2/3 hours, and I would struggle to settle her! This has been going on for the past 2/3 weeks. I thought maybe it was due to the fact that we were away traveling and she was out of "sinc", but in actual fact she was hungry and not getting in enough calories during the day, to carry her through the night! I am following the Annabel Karmel Meal Planner, but fast tracking it. So giving her rice cereal mixed with one root vegetable for lunch and then the same for dinner. Lunch is normally around 11am before her midday nap and dinner is just after 5 when she wakes from her late afternoon nap! So far it has been working. Tomorrow we are moving on to fruit for lunch and then root vegetable for dinner! DD has also not gained weight the way she should be, so that was another indication that it was time to get solids into her, and fast ;) She is 7kg at the moment, but only putting on 11grams per day, which is not ideal! Where are you moving to?

LOL Leshell - we [i'>really[/i'> still need to get together! Guess what, being going through the same thing with DD! We eventually found out what was causing her to become so restless during the night - hunger! My milk alone just was not doing it for her anymore :( Unfortunately we faced a challenge with solids, she was mentally ready and needed it, but physically her body still needed to play catch up! So when I was trying to feed her, she would automatically push everything out! She finally lost her "tongue thrust reflex" on Saturday, managed to eat a "whole" bowl of rice cereal mixed with carrot and viola - she went back to sleeping through the night! So could it be this? Have you started DD on solids yet?

I was on cyclogest as well during my pregnancy and found it very difficult to find! I do recall DH finding it at the pharmacy on Beach Road as MiaMia has stated! I wonder why it is so hard to find, could it be that so many Dr's are prescribing it and the demand outweigh's the supply?!?!

Wonderful news Stovetop! High-fiving you for your determination :D Have also been away on vacation, but have also thought about you and was hoping to send you a msg when we got back! Seems like you beat me to it ;) Statistics have proven that most BF'ing mums give up at 2 weeks and 6 weeks as this is when babies tend to go through growth spurts and you literally turn into a human feeding machine! Mentally & physically draining! It looks like you have passed these two "Mummy milestones" :) Remember the golden rule: Breast milk and production works on demand, so the more you feed or pump, the more the body will produce! Very much the supply & deman theory!

I've always had to take DD alone to have her vaccinations :( The first time was the hardest, but I had to put on a brave face as having 2 crying babies did not make for a good sight :\: A quick pop on the breast helps soothe them very quickly! And you will be surprised how quickly they toughen up ;) The next time we went for vaccinations, DD only let out a little cry and then was flashing her toothless smile at the nurses! I also request that they do both vaccinations at the same time ie. 2 nurses, one on each thigh, so that the needles go in together and she only feels the "pain" once...if that makes sense?! You'll do fine Stovetop, it's over before you even blink!

Just note that when you mix the rice cereal with EBM, the amalase in the EBM will break down the starches in the rice cereal into sugars so it starts to get watery/thinner quite quickly. Obviously EBM is better for them, but I find that with formula the rice cereal maintains its consistency. That makes sense! I was wondering why, after I mixed the rice cereal with EBM and had a good consistency, after a few minutes it became more "diluted"! Thanks for the tip LD :)

HUGE, HUGE, HUGE hugs to you Hun! Like many - I have been exactly where you are, and like KellyC has said - this too shall pass, please believe me! We did not have a "witching hour" it was more like the "witching weeks"! It lasted from about 9 weeks - 13/14 weeks (it's all a bit hazy), and emphasis on lasted and it HAS passed (DD is now 20weeks)! The biggest mistake I made was, I compared my baby to others and this was my downfall! Every baby is unique and every baby will have their own little unique requirements. Some babies fall easily into the "master plan" new parents have set out for them and others, well, they simply won't conform and that is the biggest challenge! Be willing to be flexible on schedules and do what suits you and your baby! Many, many days, I felt like a "single parent" :( With DH out of the house at 7:30am - 6:30/7pm, by the time he came home, I was in melt down mode! We eventually also went to see Cecile De Scally and within a few weeks, cracked DD's sleeping issues! Asking for help does not mean you are a failure, as Supermom wins no awards - in the eyes of a baby - you are the best Mummy and you rank up there with God :) We only started getting out and about when DD was just over 12 weeks! Like you, it was a NO-NO! I also did not drive for the first 12 weeks and was not ashamed to say, that i was not ready to handle DD alone when we out and on the roads! Don't force yourself do to anything you are not comfortable with because "other Mums are doing it", do things when you are 100% ready! There is no "by this time you should be doing X" as like babies, Mums reach milestones too, and all at different periods! H.A.K has written a beautiful post, so don't be afraid to take her up or anyone for that matter who has offered a shoulder to cry on ;) Believe me, there are so many mums who pretend that all is rosy and they have the perfect little babies, but they too slip up and when you peel back the layers, you realize that, deep down they have probably felt the way you do but where just too afraid to admit it! So a gold star to you for reaching out for help or even just speaking about your challenges, am sure you are feeling slightly better already ;)

Thanks for the replies ladies! Stuck between a rock and a hard place right now :( DH was in the room when it happened and he immediately snapped and said "Don't ever do that again" :\: I was so shocked at what happened and tried to explain, that it was not intentional and it was a reflex!!! We have briefly spoken about discipline recently and our views differed! He is European and was never exposed to physical discipline, I am South African and well remember my bottom being spanked with a slipper or anything my Mum could get her hands on, if I was out of line! I honestly never meant to do what I did today, however, I now find myself questioning my self-control, on whether it would happen again?! How else can I "teach" her that biting, especially whilst feeding is NOT on?!?! She has done it before, but today was just so darn hard, I never had time to think about my reaction :/:

I "accidentally" spanked DD in her thigh this morning :( :( :( Whilst breastfeeding, she bite me really hard, and the next thing I know i was screaming OUCH and spanked her little thigh! I know it was a reflex, as the minute it happened - I almost wanted to cry! She was shocked, did not cry, and just looked at me with big eyes! DD is only 20 weeks young - will she remember the spank? Was she able to understand that what she did was not "nice"? She has bitten me before, and I was able to de-latch her, but nothing as hard as today! I feel totally ****, and what made it worse, a few minutes later she was smiley and carried on with me as normal! I keep looking at her, and feel so utterly remorseful for what I did :( Ever happened to anyone else?

Plumie - do you think it will still work after 2 years of having the operation? Actually now that I read this website: http://www.medicinenet.com/keloid/article.htm I am thinking I don't have Keloid but hypertrophic scar .... because it is "confined to the margin of the wound" still after two years I can still feel the scar and at times can be very itchy. Should I go and see a dermatologist? No idea CB! It was recommended to me by my Dr, and that is as much as I know about it, unfortunately!

In all honesty - I hated the experience :( I was high on drugs and could not completely comprehend what was happening to me, especially when DD was handed to me - I had none of those natural happy hormones flowing! It was a complete mind-over-matter experience and there was no pain during the whole procedure! It does hit you afterwards though when the spinal wears off! But that's what the morphine is there for ;) I only asked for it on the first day and was off the pain meds from Day 2! Up and about and walking on the second day as well - even though I looked like Old Mother Hubbard - hunched over and walking at a snails pace! Catheter out on Day 2 as well and managed to get a good shower too! I tried to fight my section until 40weeks, but unfortunately DD was not budging and my body was not doing what it was supposed to (cervix was not ripening and was well and truly shut)! I hope and pray our next baby can be delivered the way Mother Nature intended it to be, and we run into no complications along the way (DD was tangled in the umbilical cord)! I know sections have saved many, many lives, but truly hope we will have better "luck" next time :)

6weeks old! I slept better, DD slept tons better (infect through the night instantly, waking only for one feed at 2/3am) and DH got a full 8hrs sleep in! We planned to put her in her own room immediately when we came from hospital however, she had bad esophageal reflux and was very colicky the first few weeks, so having her in arms length from me helped a great deal during the night! If you are breastfeeding or plan to, then having them beside you helps a great deal as no one can help you with the feeds during the night and it just makes it easier for Mum!

We bought the top of the range Avent one (dnt know the model sorry) but had the same concerns as you re thick walls and it works great. Really good range and shows humidty levels (quite useful here with all the air con) and the temp of the room.. its a really small compact remote that has a talk back facility and is small enough to clip on your jeans...The only thing I wished it would do is to have the time on it aswell! Good luck.. Think we have the same one?! It's the SCD530! DD's room is upstairs in front of the house, and even when we sit out the back in the garden, the range is pretty good as it does not loose signal :) Also love the fact that if I am in DD's room putting her to sleep and I need something, I can just "page" DH and speak to him without having to leave the room! We bought ours from Babyshop.

We are loving Casey and a late favourite for us is Hayley after hearing her sing Elton last week! Pia without doubt has a great voice but performance wise dull dull dull, yes she is pretty but are her feet glued to the floor?? ? BBBBenny...Benny & the Jets - awesome rendition by Hayley! Best performance of the night! And AI already has their first hook-up, Casey & Hayley :D Pia - i feel like I have heard it all before?! Nothing "distinctly" different about her voice?! 10/10 for the whole physical package though! I feel like the only words ST knows is "you've nailed it once again" but still love the flavor he brings to the show!
