Thats fantastic news....Im so relieved she is no longer in that house where she was not loved, bored and obviously distressed...she deserves better! What do you think of her ears? When I saw her a few months ago they were bandaged up, obviously just been cropped! Thanks so much for your help and taking her into your home :) Lets hope they dont now go and get themselves another dog!

You can try the Dubai libraries supply place on SZR. Take the exit for Nissan and loop round so you are heading in towards Dubai. Its on the right hand side just after a golf pro shop. HTH

You can set up a business easily enough, however I think where it gets a little more tricky is getting all the right permissions for handling and preparing food which you okan to sell.

Any pest control company can spray for ticks, just make sure you specify that ticks are the problem. As for the dogs, 48 hours after washing them, apply frontline. I wouldnt worry too my about catching any diseases from ticks here, they are pretty harmless in comparison to the ones in Europe.

You don't get charged for your return trip through the same salik gate, if it's on the same day. Hence the zero charge. :) Oh really? I dont think this is true. Its possible that if you go through the same gate within one hour it might be free, but if you go through the same gate 8 hours later, then surely they charge you?

Feline friends (and K9 friends for that matter) will take clothes and other things too. If you email them I think they can arrange to collect it from you. Also try DARC, they have regular garage sales and stalls at the flea market to raise money for their animals. http://www.facebook.com/#!/darcuae

How about some aloe vera? If you have AV plants in your garden you can just break a piece off and rub it on your legs. Wash it off after about 20 minutes. Alternatvely you can buy Aloe vera creams in supermarkets/pharmacies.

Cockrels dont lay eggs anyways, so you wont be needing one of those ;) Years ago we had 2 Guinea fowls in our villa in Jumeirah; thier eggs were yummy. I guess it depends where you live. Area's such as Al Barsha and Jumeirah where there are local families around it shouldnt be a problem as they also keep chickens and goats, however I dont think it's allowed in gated communities such as the Ranches or the Springs. I know of a family that are keeping 2 peacocks in their villa in the Ranches, and we all know they can be quite noisy; They have been there for over a year so I guess if they are not bothering anyone, then no one cares.

If you prefer someone to come to you, then you can try http://www.shampooch.ae/ Most vets also have a groomer, however some do insist on the cats being sedated for grooming, which I think is unecessary unless the cats are easily stressed. You can also try http://www.pawspetplanet.com/grooming, they are located in DIP/Green community so they would probably be the closest to you.

I returned something to Yellow hat and they told me it would take 3 weeks to get it refunded! It was refunded within 10 days though. Still I think its ridiculous how long it takes. Might be worth contacting them again to see whats going on, or maybe call the bank. I love how they are so keen to take money from you, but when it comes to refunds, it takes ages!

I've had all the lights at the back go before, including the brake lights, and I had no Idea. It was only when my OH followed me one day that he pointed it out. If I ever see people with one or all lights out at the back I try to tell them at the next traffic light as this really is something you can't know. The idiots on the road without lights on at all are a different story, now that most new cars have illuminated dials, people forget to put thier headlights on.....

Wow, didnt think they would pull someone over for that! Nah, its not something he would go to jail for. Fingers crossed he will get a new liscence tomorrow and all will be well. Worst case scenario if he doesnt get it tomorrow he will have to explain that he lost it and hasnt got round to getting a new one.

I've heard of people who managed to get their license within 15 minutes, like Jag said, however when I tried that they needed a lost document report from the police which took forever as the guy typing it was taking his sweet time. I would get him to try the RTA place upstairs in Coop with his passport and try his luck first. :)

It took me a while to come up with a box full of things too, but i googled lots of them. Doesnt all have to be age related, you dont want her feeling too bad after all ;) You can even include things she likes like silly kitchen accessories, or chocolates, funny nick nacky things. Daiso in the Oasis center is great for inspiration. (sometimes the translations are the funniest)

We went to the one at the Shagri la the other week, and the food was fantastic. They had the typical All day English breakfast, 2 differnt types of roast, as well as Pie's all the typical Thai/Chinese classics including Duck pancakes. Not to mention a pasta station, and egg station (for eggs in any way you want) a waffle station, a huge range of fresh seafood and deserts. It was 215dhs including house beverages (our glasses were never empty) 300+ including bubbly, and they even had a non alcohlic option. Unfortunately the atmosphere was lacking a bit, but the food was fantastic. Starts at 12, until 4pm.

It depends what kind of covers they are. If they removable covers then any tailor should be able to do it. If they are the type that are stapled to a the seat then I would recommend one of the car upholstry places in Satwa. Im sure if you take a sample to them, they will be able to do it. They have loads of different materials to choose from, or if you have one in mind, you can bring your own material. HTH

There is a golden tulip hotel in Dibba, to get there you will need your passport, as you will be passing through Oman terretory, but I dont think they stamp it. Near the hotel in Dibba is the Dibba port where the Dhows leave from. They have two different types of Dhows, one for a day trip and one for Diving. As far as I know, you wont be able to learn how to dive, but you can go snorkelling. There is also Fujairah where you wont need your passport, plus there are quite a few hotels on the beach where you can learn to dive. Snoopy Island is also good for snorkelling.

If you go to the polo club, drive up to the main club house and take a stroll around. In the afternoons there are always lessons going on, and there are horses in the paddocks. You wont have to pay for that. You could even ask someone if you can take a walk through the stables, Im sure they wont object.

The easiest is probably to do a U turn at the Safa park flyover, stay in the right hand lane, and take the first slip road. Kep going straight and English college will be on your right, before the petrol station.

oooh interesting.....maybe you will have a powercut on Christmas day? Or maybe Christmas lights will be 'out of stack mam-sir' well before Christmas! All joking aside though: Most dreams contain messages that serve to teach you something about yourself. However, soon after you wake up to go about your daily routine, you tend to quickly forget what you dream about. The message in recurring dreams may be so important and/or powerful that it refuses to go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream. It is desperately trying to tell you something. Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them. Recurring dreams are quite common and are often triggered by a certain life situation, transitional phase in life or a problem that keeps coming back again and again. These dreams may recur daily, once a week, or once a month. Whatever the frequency, there is little variation in the dream content itself. Such dreams may be highlighting a personal weakness, fear, or your inability to cope with something in your life - past or present. The repetitive patterns in your dream reveal some of the most valuable information about yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled. Some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.

Interesting link! I thought I was doing well reusing and recycling everywhere I can, but I am still living as if we have 4.3 plants :( I dont want to point the blame, but Dubai really isnt into recycling yet, not to the standard of Europe etc. Hopefully this will change, and people will become more aware of the recycling facilities currently available in the UAE.

I too would'nt recommend it, either as a family, or as a single lady. As Clairehdp mentioned, people leave rubbish lying around everywhere, there is raw sewerage on the streets, all the area's between buildings that used to be green are now overgrown and dead, with stagnant water everywhere, there are always sewerage tankers parked up...the negatives are endless! There is a German saying: "Its not a place I would want to be hanging dead over a fence"
