I feel for you. I had this here in Dubai and it was the worst time of my life by far, made worse by the most awful doctor who told me I had five years left to live (which was a lie and a scare tactic into making me pay heaps of money for a procedure I didn't need). Your doctor is right. It depends on the stage of your abnormality. It sounds like your abnormality is in the fairly early stages (ASCUS I think is the term) in which case your body is probably strong enough to fight off the virus and get rid of it in a few months. BUT you HAVE to be healthy in this time. No smoking, cut down on drinking, sleep, eat good food. Really help your body fight the virus. In the majority of women's cases, the body is able to fight the virus off and you will have a clear normal PAP in 6 months or so. IF the virus progresses (and it depends what strain of HPV you have) you may need to have a procedure to get rid of the bad cells. I think back in the UK they use a small laser to burn off the bad cells and the vast majority of women are completely fine after. I've had loads of friends with this issue. Just be careful which doctor you go to here in Dubai and ask around before you go... as you know that sales are a big part of their job.

So sorry to hear this... I had CIN II/III here. I can almost certainly NOT recommend a particular doctor but I'm not sure I'm allowed to say who on a public forum. Pls message me if you want to know. I had a cold-knife procedure with this doctor who cut a part of my cervix out. After my problems I changed doctors and did follow ups with Dr Agatha Monis/Moniz at Medcare hospital. She was lovely to me. Calm. Relaxed. Made me feel at ease. I wish I had found her when I was originally diagnosed with CIN II/III. I would definitely recommend her.

Hi ladies I've been googling and googling but can't find an answer.. it may be that there isn't one but thought to ask here as well. Is there any kind of law that stipulates we have to tell our employers we are pregnant by a certain date? IE - we need to tell them at 3 months? While I'm on it - curious to hear any experiences you had in informing your employer you were pregnant. Any sticky situations? I'm not excited to inform my employer! :( Thanks Saff xx

Hi ladies, Not a good day for me! My iphone 5 fell on floor today and the glass is cracked/partially broken! It is still working though. Can anyone advise on where I can get the glass replaced getting a reasonable price? Honestly, I am not up to buy a newer version! Getting it repaired through official shops looks to be pricy (considering it isn't under warranty). I just need it to work for another year or two! Appriciate to let me know of any shop or address who can do a reasonable but good job! Thank you, I can't remember the name of the place but in Dubai Marina/DEMAC Towers metro stop, on the marina side, there is a little shop that does mobile phone repairs. The shop is actually inside the metro station just as you enter it. I think it cost me 400 AED and took a day. I've had it repaired elsewhere for 600 AED before.

Hello - Been wanting to try them but i want to make sure i go to the right place. i love lashes and would love to wake up every morning to perfect lashes without having to wear mascara.. has anyone tried Zen asian spa in JLT? worth a try as they have a promotion at the moment but don't want to go to them if they don't do a good job. Thanks. Sorry, have never tried that particular spa. But I have had them done before at Sera Beauty Lounge in Business Central Towers in Internet City. It's right by Internet City metro. The salon is nice and the lashes were wonderful. I re-did them twice before deciding never to do them again. Not because of the salon but because I think I actually prefer sticking my own line of false lashes on. Try to find out what brand/make of lashes they are using before you go and google that brand to see reviews. I did mine in England once as well and the salon I went to there used a different brand of lashes thtat I really didn't like..they were shiny and looked like plastic..whereas the brand I had at Sera Beauty Lounge looked like real hair and were more matte, like real hair. I can't remember the brand names though. Bear in mind that your eyes will burn a little from the glue! :( But it goes away.

Exciting! It looks stormy! today is not a good day to wear a floaty skirt! My mum used to sew little ball bearings into the hem of her floaty skirts lol. Just enough so it didn't ruin the skirt but enough to stop them fluttering up!

Hi all I've trawled through some of the older threads about botox and fillers and done some research.. I'd like to go with either Dr. Al-Shunnar or Dr. Ahmed Ghanem at Crescent...and I wondered if anyone had any more recent reviews or experiences? Looking to have botox and fillers with either of them :) Thanks all Saffron i used to go to dr ghanem at crescent for a while, but then his prices went up and i felt he wasn't really going me advice when i went in, just the same old top up. i've recently switched to dr francisco at the aesthetica clinic and is fantastic, highly recommend. thanks Kelly1814 :)

I buy all of mine at Souq Al Nayef - ranging from 100 to 800 depending on the quality. It's an indoor shopping complex with lots and lots of abaya stores.. frequented mainly by Arabs and Asians. There are a couple of old shopping complexes in and around that area that also sell abayas. x

SP my brother recently got married in the UAE. Him and his wife both have British passports and are Muslim. She was a UAE resident and he lived in the UK, so no residency here. I helped with a lot of the procedures with the marriage, and although I can't 100% remember, I'm 95% certain that nobody went to the British embassy here for any documents. They did the medical test as you have described (pretty sure there was no additional fee for pick-up of the results but don't quote me on that), and then the rest of the paperwork we did through one of the registered marriage officials. We literally called one of the Marriage Officials listed on the below list off the Dubai Government portal and he told us everything that was required and then came to our house to do the ceremony and took care of registering the marriage. I think we paid him a fee of 1,000 dhs for the service. The one point to note is that the female needs with her the consent from her father to marry, or if the father is deceased then consent from a brother or uncle plus a death certificate of the father. I recommend you call one of the numbers listed, they were very helpful with us - if one of you speaks Arabic then this is probably better. http://www.dubaicourts.gov.ae/portal/page?_pageid=292,457284&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL Thanks SEY83 for the pointer! I've called the Dubai Courts marriage section and they gave me conflicting info which left me in a tizz and there's all kinds of random info on the net - I'll get the fiance to ring one of the marriage officials and sort this. :D xxx

Here's an idea - why not call up the medical centre and ask and call the embassy and ask. Alright, chill your beans.. Yeah.. the embassy has been closed over the past few days for Eid and when I tried calling them today they fobbed me off by saying I can only request this info and this appointment via email. I sent them an email last week and I am still waiting for a reply, so thought some kind folk on the forum would fill me in on their personal experiences in the meantime as the embassy is taking some time. As for the medical centre - they've not picked up the 3 calls I've made today. Thanks for your super friendly advice though. :/

hi sp , i was in a similar situation - however , dh converted and it was quite strict. he had to learn islam for 6 months at JILC .we are both brits and divorced . dh and i had to present our divorce papers and he also had to submit his conversion certificate before the courts would wed us with a male from my family present ( my father ). The mahr was the ring . one of you will need the residence visa and yes ,social status if you are unmarried can be obtained via the british embassy .takes about 2 weeks or so ..medical test cost 400 dhs and took 10 working days ..hope this help. Hi all, I'm a (converted) Muslim British citizen due to be married to a non-British Muslim here in Dubai pretty soon. The paperwork is turning out to be a bit of a nightmare and I am curious to hear from anyone similar who got married here and [b'>how it was for you?[/b'> I have found some conflicting info on the web and wondered, [b'>do both the man and woman need a residence visa[/b'> or do only one of them need it to get married? I am currently on a tourist visa (I was offered a job but won't be starting for a while until after I am married). I have also been told I need a "confirmation of social status" certificate, approved by the British Embassy, which confirms my current marital status (single) and if I have any dependents or children (none). I've contacted the embassy to arrange an appointment but they're not easy to get hold of and are taking some time in responding to emails - [b'>does anyone know what the process in getting this certificate is and how long it takes?[/b'> I am due to take a pre-marriage medical test in the next week and was told by my medical center it would cost about 400 AED whereas a friend of mine who recently got married insisted that it cost her 1700 AED! [b'>What did it cost you?[/b'> Thanks very much in advance! xxx edited by Saffron_Parker on 07/10/2014 edited by Saffron_Parker on 07/10/2014 edited by stylex1 on 07/10/2014 Hi Stylex! I paid 410 AED for my marriage medical test but now my friend is telling me that I am going to be asked to pay a further 700 AED when I collect the result - did that happen with you? Ohand one more question! Did you need to post a "notice of intention to marry" at the Brit Embassy? If so, did it cost any money? I just read a newspaper article from 2010 saying that this is a requirement and costs 1,500 AED?! Thank u! x edited by Saffron_Parker on 08/10/2014

Just a quick update on this thread in case anyone is searching for info in the future: my medical test for marriage cost 410 AED and not the crazy 1700 AED that my friend told me! :)

Hi all, I'm a (converted) Muslim British citizen due to be married to a non-British Muslim here in Dubai pretty soon. 1. I am not sure about the visa restrictions. 2. The certificate you need from your embassy is just a Statutory Declaration stating that you are not married - (never or divorced) and the number of dependents you have under the age of 21 years. You shouldn't need an appointment for this document - they should be able to do this for you immediately. It should cost around $100, I think. 3. You need to get the pre-marriage blood tests done - I am not sure of the costs. However, 1,700aed seems very high to me. Why not go to the hospital and ask. 4. You will also need to make an appointment with the court to the actual marriage. They will draw up your contract immediately prior to the judge sealing your marriage contract. Think about what you want in your contract - you will tell the girl in the court and she will type it then and there for you so you need to be prepared. For example, you could ask that, should your husband wish to take a second wife, he give you the option of a divorce, you could consider your career - do you want to have to option to work or not as you wish? and also where you live - there maybe some countries or regions in which you don't want to live permanently, children etc. I know it sounds defeatist but I included all these points in my Nikkah when I married (not here). And, I know many women who have included so much more. 5. You will need two witnesses to go with you to the court. 6. They will also ask you if your future husband has already paid you the agreed upon Mahr - gold, cash, property etc. Once you say "yes", you can never come back and say he hasn't given it yet. Promising it doesn't count, unfortunately. Good luck! edited by mrsb. on 07/10/2014 Really useful reply, thanks a lot!! :) :) I'll make sure I prepare my contract conditions before I go to the court xx

We have this problem in our buildings. The major cause is the fresh air system part of the AC not working properly, so instead of the smells and air being sucked out, it's sent round the system. Your building maintenance need to look into it. Great info, thanks FairyDust :)

Thanks for your reply guys. Already spoke with the neighbour who seemed apologetic enough and really quite nice about the whole thing (so I don't want to start trouble) but he had a point that he was allowed to smoke in his flat.. which is true. Have spoken to the building maintenance who promised to come check out the AC vents this week. Fingers crossed something is sorted, but have taken into account the suggestions for air purifiers. Thank you ladies!! :) xoxxxx
