You should definitely try to sue. Suing in the United States has greatly contributed to the safety of consumers over the years. really? you don't think its gone into complete madness? THe UK is compensation mad aswell, firms on street corners asking if you had an accident lately, and guess who pays for all this, its the general public. edited by salsB on 12/06/2013

Did you need stitches? TBH I cant see you getting anywhere with the store or mall management. How were the staff to know the glass was about to shatter. Accidents like this can and do happen. I wouldnt use any energy to move forward to sue.

Looks like the rules have changed, as per usual, the info is never filtered thru to the right channels. Im heading to Dubs next week, will go and see about my E-gate, and will let you know. http://www.expatechodubai.com/new-to-dubai/save-time-at-immigration-with-an-egate-card/ When I had E-gate, I used it on many occasions with my GD in tow, they stamped her passport. Whereas in the UK you have to be over 18. Dubai is different. I never had a bother. edited by salsB on 12/06/2013

For the UK, you can apply online, not sure about costs, but I know someone who wanted to apply and the cost was 850 pounds, and that just for the application, if you are denied, they you get no refund. Never been to Australia, but I would say the UK is a big NO NO.

I hear people saying to me, you got to get out there and sell yourself!!!! Its not that easy, for one thing I have nothing to sell, and to be honest, I am not just the type to pick up anyone and say to myself, you can and will be my friend. Ive very picky, and TBH, after some Ive met in Dubai, I wouldnt have a my worst enermy. lol I know we shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush, but am very choosy, and it is quite hard to find good ole decent pals, isnt it.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one in the same boat. My husband likes it here as it is smaller and he can make more of an impact in business. I never wanted to move here but because it meant I could give up work and take care of our children, I thought it would be the best thing for us. When I was back in Dubai I heard that my replacement is doing a terrible job so there is probably a good chance that I would get my old job back. The only downside would be the kids would only see their dad at the weekend and that would be really hard. I am not sure however that I can continue living in a place feeling so miserable :( I go into Dubai monthly, so that keeps me going, sick of looking at these four walls. Heading home early August for a couple of weeks, so again, getting away. Hubby likes it here too?? god knows why as he only goes to work, lol. If it helps im so miserable too, miss my best friend in Dubai and my DD is there too, so from going to seeing them every day to every 26 days is extremely hard. edited by salsB on 11/06/2013

I asked immigration if non residents can have an E-gate, the answer was a straight forward no. My friend got one two weeks ago, he isn't a resident and never has been. He was told over the phone no, I suggested to just go to DNATA anyway. He did and they gave him one without any bother at all. They asked for my residence visa perhaps he caught them on a generous day Im surprised as I was asked for my passport and they were checking my residence visa too. I cant understand hwo you would get an E gate when you are not a resident here ?!!! doesnt make sense ! Just checked and yes non residents can get one, wonder why the immigration office I spoke to didnt know.

I would get testing at your doctors to see if anything shows up before heading to Dubai. Must say we were never advised to have any vaccinations before moving over, and I cant say I know of anyone else either. My MIL is a nurse, but she is away at the moment, so I cant contact her to see if she knows. If you are in the UK maybe contact NHS Direct and ask them.

Not to sure, so you are not going to seek new clients in Dubai,or just deal with the ones in Belgium!!! I suppose if its the latter, then I cannot see why not, but if you are planning to become a resident, then I would say im not sure. Im not an expert in this at all. Lots of people do freelance, not sure if they have properly set themselves up with getting a trade licence. People based in the UAE work all over the place, I cannot see them re-registering themselves in every country they work from. So if you are dealing just with clients in Belguim and getting paid outside Dubai, personally I would keep myself under the radar so to speak. edited by salsB on 11/06/2013

You shouldnt need to double or triple check to make sure you have taken your child out of the car, [b'>its a natural inner mechanism to do this as a parent.[/b'> All this talk about devices to help parents remember, is pathetic. No parent is perfect in any way or form, but come on,we are talking about a child's death here!! not a scraped knee. edited by salsB on 10/06/2013 Then why does it happen? Why?? exactly why does it happen?? edited by salsB on 10/06/2013 For a whole myriad of reasons. Did you read my post? It happened to me. So if your friends hadnt of prompted you, you would not of remembered? Ive done some daft things, such as taking my 5 year old to school with a 3 week old new born, as I reached the school it was far to quiet, when I checked the time I was an hour early. I know parents are stressed, tired, exhausted, worn out. My sister was a late mum of 45 years old, she doesnt cope, my mum has her kids all the time, and she says to me, its ok for you "Sal it was easier for you" I ask myself why would she think that!!!!

There has been afew of these incidents over the last 5 years since Ive been here, so I wonder why this tragic accident will change the way parents think!!!! But these tragedies aren't about the way parents think. The articles illustrate that over an over again these awful deaths aren't the result of conscious negligence. The point is that the amygdala works in a certain way & we can't really change that. Using discussions like these to raise awareness about hyperthermia, the horrific potential consequence of leaving a child in a car, is surely helpful in reducing the frequency of such events. Personally, I know that I've been utterly paranoid about this after watching the Opera episode on forgotten baby syndrome some years ago. I am so very grateful for that knowledge. These tragedies are about they way parents think? because if they had a thought and just took the little fella out of the car, then this wouldnt of happened, surely. This is only my opinion thou. Reading this story has really upset me, had many discussions about it since Friday, just heartbreaking. edited by salsB on 10/06/2013 I can not even imagine how any parent can forget a child is in the car in the first place! Nor me. The article quite clearly explains it! What article are you referring to!

Does the OP want help from us, If so, then she needs to tell us. Does she want us to contact someone on her behalf. If she can give me her mums telephone number I will ring her. OP can write a letter of sorts on here and I would read out to her family what she has written. Its just awful that she is being treated in this way, her DH and his parents should be ashamed of themsleves. The OP states that she has a brother in the UK. If that's the case, and seeing as she has access to the internet, wouldn't she be able to contact him? A friend today said the same, if the OP can write long posts, then she must have time to make contact with someone in the family, obviously the MIL isnt around all the time.

Only hand over the deposit, once the LL has signed the contract then you can handover everything else. Firstly you need copy of LL passport and property deeds, makes sure the names match up, also ask for a copy of the last Dewa bill. Last year an agent asked us to make the post dated cheques in his name and not LL, so be careful. LL pays for the tenancy to be attested, but he will probably want you to do that as it saves him money. Read your tenancy contract properly, and understand exactly what you are getting for your money. Will your contract include chiller?? this can be a very expensive utility bill for you. Get a copy of the agents rera card too. Just because an agent is registered with Rera, doesnt necessary mean you are protected, the agent that we dealt with was registered. He was a con man..... Im not sure about you paying for maintenance under 500, a friend has had so many problems lately, if that was the case it would empty her bank account to pay for all the faults.

You're not missing a zero at the start of the serial number? Is the serial number def only numerals ie not getting a zero mixed up with a O.i had a problem a while back using card reader to transfer money...think I warned to transfer £700 but it would n't let me until I eventually clicked that I had to type 700.00 and not 700. I know it's not the same but maybe need to add a zero at beginning of serial number or something. the serial number as shown on the key is 2 digits then 7 then 1, on screen where you type the number in it has 3 boxes, so I would assume to put the number in as seen. Hubby going into the bank on Sunday, its not a major rush we have over 80 days to activate and use, this might be just enough time for the bank to sort it out. lol.

Whilst on the phone we followed the instruction from the idiot on the other end, still wouldnt work, his answer to us was we need Firefox or Explorer, Google Chrome does not let you open the bank website. Never had a problem with Chrome, and as for the other search engines, they didnt work either. Back to square one........ what is wrong with this bank, had problems in Dubai and its even worse here. Does anyone know the address of head office, I now need to escalate all our issues to them. Tia

Agent fees are 5% of your rent. I would look at dubizzle for white goods, I bought a great washing maching for 500dhs. Geant and carrefour are decent prices new thou. Dewa is 1110 to connect and deposit.( not sure if you pay more for a villa thou ) Du Internet was 600 per month, set up was 200dhs plus!! A/c cooler is very expensive, a friend paid 5000 for a month, but I think there was a fault, not sure she got her money back, probably not. I lived in an 3 bed apartment, and paid 13,000 for 11 months, so utility bills become expensive and have to calculated into your budget. HTH
