It depends on the passport she holds. If she's on the list on visa-on-arrival countries then yes; if not, then no. Taken from the (London) UAE Embassy: [i'>Passport holders of the countries listed below do not require a prior visa in order to enter the United Arab Emirates for business or tourist visits lasting 30 days. These passport holders will receive a one-month non-renewable visa on arrival. Europe: France , Italy , Germany , the Netherlands , Belgium , Luxembourg , Switzerland , Austria , Sweden , Norway , Denmark , Portugal , Ireland, Greece, Finland , Malta , Spain , Monaco , Vatican , Iceland , Andorra , San Marino , Liechtenstein. Other Countries: United States of America, Australia , New Zealand , Japan , Brunei , Singapore , Malaysia and Hong Kong . If you do NOT fall into one of the above categories, you will require a visa and a sponsor for your visit. Please contact the Consulate Section for more information. [/i'>

No, I wouldn't pay either but it used to be that car dealers would charge for a test-drive to deter every Tom, Dick and Harry having a spin in cars they would never dream of buying.

Oh, I didn't realise they could gas them, I thought it might leave residues in the body that could be harmful to whatever ate them. Only 5.30am and I've learnt something today :)

Hmmm...... obviously they can't be gassed or injected with anything if they're to be used as food so I wondered if they were drowned. My stepbrother had a snake and my stepmum used to buy frozen mice for it. I pondered this question then.

My Grandad (bless him) calls them "Ten-day toilets". He said you could sh*t in them for ten days and no-one would notice. You’ve obviously inherited his toilet humour Yep. I can lay claim to [i'>some[/i'> humour. Et tu?

Ladies, without a story to tell, I have cried myself through all your posts - sending all hugs, loving thoughts and much sympathy, and wishing that your heavy hearts will become easier! Agreed 100%. I hope you all find some peace in these posts, some comfort knowing that others completely understand how you feel, and some reassurance that what you are feeling is completely normal.

Are there any stations/shows worth listening to in the morning? I gave Dubai Radio 4 a shot this morning - 104.8. Just about the [b'>worst[/b'> radio I have ever heard. Sure hope they're not a sponsor for expat woman or this will get deleted :( I've been through that one. Briefly. I didn't like the music at all - I didn't know any of it - so that's on my list of stations to forget. Oh to turn back the years to Lazer 558....

with such a glowing referral SS, I am surprised she hasnt lept at the opportunity... I like to be honest with these things, less of a shock at interview when her teeth drop out as she asks to have the question repeated. ROFL!

It's doubtful. You can register your interest with the shelters or look on Dubizzle and shop noticeboards to see if someone is trying to home one.

Freckles, do you have it set to receive emails? If so, set it so that it only receives them when you request it to and that that it's not checking on a regular basis.

Go a bit further north to Al Hamra Cellar, it's on the same road. You can also get to it by going to thr end of Emirates Road until you get to a roundabout and turning left. Al Hamra Cellar is on the right about 6km from the roundabout.

We went in May and it was ok. Rain showers but nothing to wreck a holiday. We stayed at Legian Beach, plenty of hotels to choose from, nice beach. We were thinking of staying in Kuta where there is a lot going on. We must have been lucky as we didn't get ill at all. I was never interested in going to Bali but BIL got married there. I loved it!
