Have you checked to make absolutely, 100% sure they will carry a Bulldog? I'm making enquiries with EK regarding carrying dogs and always get asked the breeds because of restrictions on carrying brachycephalic dogs. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 05/03/2014

It's a 4 bed detached villa in Mina Al Arab. Partial sea view, quiet gated community, good sized villa, low maint. garden, occupied by us since handover in 2010. It's on Dubizzle here [url=http://tinyurl.com/prhgfcs '>link[/url'> I can also be contacted on lazylakite @ yahoo . co . uk for more info.

I requested a call back from the UK passport office. They've just called me back from wht appears to be a UAE mobile (+971 52....). Out of curiosity I called the number back and got the same recorded message. Mystery solved, it would seem :)

When you are in the booking process you do need to check the "fare conditions" which is a link in the box with flight details and price, before you book. Different conditions apply to flights and you do need to know what they are before you book. Do you have it in writing anywhere that you would be entitled to a refund (minus their charges)? If so I can't see how they can refuse you a refund.

Has anyone done this and is it straightforward (and legal)? I went to place an ad on Dubizzle for my property and the sale options are developer, agent or landlord - not owner. When you look at ads all have a standard reminder to only do property transactions with the landlord or registered agent, which made me wonder if people actually sell their own properties.

I NEED to pull my finger out and get my house on the market. IF we sell it then we can leave next year. It'll be 11 years then, that's given it a good shot, I think :)

Big Red is a very big dune next to the road, on your left as you head towards Hatta.

Personally I would go down the E44, around the Big Red area, or further. Nice, orange dunes close to the road.

If they are planning on pulling off the side of the road then maybe drive down the E44 or the E66. If they want to go [b'>into[/b'> the desert then I would advise they book with a tour company.

I'd be peed off if someone gave me a cold, but I'd be MORE peed off at losing a job because of one. Colds are an annoying fact of life, it's not as if you'll be spreading TB so I'd dose yourself up to the eyeballs and plough through the day. Good luck!

Thanks Ladies. Actually FJ, we have our own website with everything on it, we just need to update it a bit. We could link to that. Simple, from what I can see, propertyfinder is agents/brokers only.

We want to list our property for sale, initially without an agent. I can think of Dubizzle, Gulf News ads but nowhere else that allows properties to be listed without an agent or broker. Am I missing something obvious here?

My last landlady was a right cow. I loved it when the agent didn't bother to show and the viewer asked if there were any problems with the property :D The final straw came when the agent arranged for 6 viewers to come at different times in one afternoon. I quoted the terms of my contract at the LL and told her she could wait until we were out and sell her own sodding property. If I had a decent LL I would do as others suggested and allow viewings at very specific times only.

I'm with Geordie Expat. I wash all my towels separately and never use fabric conditioner with them. I don't like the soft, spread-the-wet-all-over-your-skin feel. I prefer the hard crunchy soak-it-off-like-a sponge effect :D

DS goes to a predominantly local school. Many of the parents bring in sack loads of Happy Meals when it's their child's birthday. We as parents, don't get a say in whether or not our children should get these, it's only when DS comes home and tells me that I know. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 16/02/2014

I asked how other people do this because there are a lot of children in DD's school with parents overseas (armed forces for example) and the guy at the PP office said he didn't know because it's not something they come across very often. Hmmm.....

I don't think so. It's not to do with my signature being genuine or whatever, it's to do with me physically being in the UK at the time of application. I was told that technically I should have stayed in the UK until her new passport was issued. Flying back at Easter is too late. Her PP expires next month and her flights back here are already booked. I'd rather not have to go down the legal guardian route but if it can be done from here, and can be done quickly it might be the better option. She's doing well. A big change but she's settling in well and seems happy.

Yes you do need to be in the UK at the time of application. My Mum was told this by one person in the passport office and I was told the same by someone else from the passport office. Their website says "This service is only available to British nationals currently in the UK. If you are applying from outside the UK see www.gov.uk for other ways to apply. " I can't use the overseas application process because she's not overseas and still has to sign. I can't do my bit here and send it back. The passport office still have her old passport, it wasn't returned although the application was rejected, so I can't start again. As I've queried it, I've already flagged up that I'm not in the UK plus I have to give my passport details so they can easily check where I am. Yes, she's under 16.
