I'm not sure if you can get a day pass for the Hilton Beach Resort and Spa. Have they said WHY they want to visit RAK? If they had something in mind it might be easier to research and plan.

Oh, I thought MI went home. Did she go and come back or was I mistaken and she never left at all? KKS I don't know about but Wikkid posted not so long ago. She moved to Oman, I think, but I see to recall she moved back here. I don't know where QoD is, but I'm sure some posters are still in touch with her. BM is still here ;)

Clairehdp moved back to England but still posts occasionally. Aroha, Redlesley and LivelyTrish are still around now and again. I think MotherInferior moved back several years ago, not sure if she ever posts. Gerrys floats about, BMAP is still around - posted recently, QoD I haven't seen for quite a while.

Apparently she got banned quite a while back, although I have no idea why. I don't know if she's just washed her hands of the whole place or come back and kept a low profile.

Pricewise it's easy enough to check out online. If you do buy here, I would recommend Grand Stores. I've always had good service from them.

Careful Ladies, you can't unwatch that video. (But what prompted her think "I know! I'll shove the wool up my doodah!" It's not as if it's cleaner than having the ball of wool rolling around the floor, is it?)

We were queing for checkin in Goa in the 90's and a family in front of us were saying they found a shop that sold "...proper English food, you know, in tins an' stuff."

Thanks Dinks (all all who have taken the time to post), your words have brought a tear) not a good day today now that formal offer been made, flights/hotel/car hire booked). It was very much a case of "this is the best thing, let's go for it!" (on both sides) but now it's reality, the emotional side has kicked in. We've been unhappy with the secondary education for quite a while. We've spent a good few years being told by DH's employer that we're moving to the US "next year" so we've hung on and hung on waiting and hoping for the best. the move isn't going to happen now so we've had to rethink. This school isn't going to get any better. There aren't any decent options close by. Sadly things have slipped down so far that it would be a lot of work to get her back up to standard, a tall order here I think. The school she will be going to (in the UK, Dinks) is one I've known of for many, many years and have given me a lot of confidence in the conversations and interactions I've had with them. I truly believe this is her best shot at finishing her education on a higher note than she would if she were to stay here. Not sure if I mentioned it before but she'll be two months short of 15 when she starts school.

Thanks again, Hendy, you've given some great tips that I hadn't thought of. This was not something decided for her, we suggested it and she made the decision whether to go or not. I think it will definitely help that my Mum, who she is close to, lives a 20 min drive away. I will be around for DD's first weekend boarding and it's an exeat weekend the third weekend she's there so she'll go to my Mum's. She'll also spend the half term in Feb with my Mum, which both are looking forward to. She'll get quite a few weekends away from boarding.

DS is 9. I look at him and there's no way I could send him to boarding school, I just couldn't. DD's less than 2/4 years from leaving for higher education anyway. There's no way she would have gone at 9 years old either.

Thank you for your honesty, Hendy. This has all happened very suddenly for us. We were looking at next September but were recommended an April start. After discussions regarding marrying DD's studies with the new school's studies they recommended she starts after Christmas to catch up. Two things that may make it easier (although she's flitting between excited and nervous) are that she'll be almost 15, she's wanted to move back for years, and she'll be close to my parents.

If they are, they shouldn't be talking to the press; it's not our job to decide that we shouldn't talk about it - they've already put it out into the big-wide-world. It's too late to worry about who discusses what. I don't remember seeing her post about this previously, I must have missed it. I assume it was about her dog being euthanised? [b'>I think your last paragraph sums it up perfectly, though[/b'>. yes there was a big thread where she posted her phone number leading to some unfortunate detective work by Whistling Babu... really ? I thought it was a bit pointless myself.... Ah, I didn't see that thread. Yes, really. lol.

I think it was just passport and visa copies (didn't have ID cards back then). This was back in 2007 so I'm sure things have changed since then. I think more was required for the mortgage than the property purchase.

Yes you can, I always did DH's vehicles for him. Fines have to be paid before or during registration but the owner can go online to check and pay before you take the vehicle for registration. http://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/dp/english/e_services.jsp?dPg=1&Page=5998

That's really weird, AR. Is there a specific amount awarded per transactiom then, regardless of amount spent? We have a new Vox cinema opened right near us so I'm interested to know how this works and will certainly be doing some research myself. Edited because I woke up in a better mood than I went to sleep in. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 20/11/2013

RAK Hospital has paediatricians and the one most recommended (and also by me) is Dr. Vishal. If you are on Facebook I recommend you join the "Al Hamra Village, R.A.K, UAE" group. There is a lot on info on there and questions tend to get answered pretty quickly. Al Hamra has a huge (and very friendly) expat community and there are always meet-up going on. I wuld also advise joining the RAK-expats google group, this way you'll be emailed with all the goings-on in RAK. Feel free to email me on lazylakite @ yahoo . co . ok for more info.

I think Shop and Ship is incoming only and it's your responsibility to send it back if needs be. You do have to watch what you order though because shipping costs get very expensive if the item/s is heavy and you can end up offsetting any purchase price savings in shipping costs. My S&S account has addresses in UK, US, Turkey, India, Hong Kong, China and Dubai(?).

I find it a little amusing that the issue is whether the defendant said F- Off or F- You rather than focusing on the F word itself. Could it be because one means "go away" and the other technically means something that cannot be mentioned on this forum? The latter would be a huge insult to a Muslim man... It's possible I suppose. I would be offended by a client instructing me to do ANYTHING with the F word. What followed after would be immaterial to me.
