Google something like "slow cooker freezer". I found some recipes that can be made in batches and frozen, then just put in the slow cooker and cooked from frozen. Note: make sure the frozen shape will fit in your slow cooker. Do not press it out flat before you freeze if your slow cooker is a Crockpot.

Have you been prescribed codeine here? Genuinely wondering? Ruth M, once you ditch it safely on arrival I'm sure you'll be fine. Safe travels Yes, Co-codamol is given here but it's not a regular prescription and is filled on a MoH prescription pad rather than the hospital/clinic's pad. When I've been given a controlled substance in the same way I've had to provide my Emirate's ID card and a copy was taken.

If codeine is on the Controlled Substances list the UAE Embassy in the UK says: [i'>Visitors must take care to ensure that medicines and medications prescribed in their home countries are not restricted before travelling to the UAE. The UAE Ministry of Health’s Drug Control Department publishes a list of controlled medicines and medications. [b'>Visitors should contact the Ministry of Health drug control department to check whether their medication is on the controlled list, and needs prior permission for importation.[/b'> The Customer Service Centre of the drug control department can be contacted by emailing [email protected], by telephone on +971 2 611 7240 or by fax +971 2 632 7644.[/i'> And the UAE embassy in the US says: [i'>Below is a list of Controlled Medicines and Medications, registered with the Ministry of Health in the UAE and enforced by the UAE Ministry of Interior and International Narcotic Controlled Board (INCB). These items are essentially available only in hospitals and in large community pharmacies, under the prescription of doctors. The Ministry of Health advises that unlicensed, controlled medicines can only be imported into the UAE through hospitals and not by individuals. [b'>However, the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of health does have special regulations for personal import of such items: patients or travelers carrying prescribed prescription medications must have their prescriptions issued by licensed U.S. doctors, attested by a notary public, and duly authenticated by both the secretary of state of one’s U.S. state, and finally also authenticated by the Secretary of State of the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C. [/b'>[/i'> I'm not sure I'd take the chance (although I would down it at the last possible moment).

Can you walk through the Buraimi border? I'm not sure if a taxi could take you through otherwise (such as Hatta). If you can get to the RAK/Mussandam you can do it all by walking through and back again.

Because even paying delivery (but you do need to be careful) it's often cheaper to ship stuff in from the US than pay through the nose for it here. There's a huge amount of stuff I want but can't get here. Unless I'm missing something. :/

Hubby needed one to access the account in the UK, we were told you have go via the branch that is relative to the account!!! Once set up, its a walk in the park. Wish they would introduce chip and pin, think this should of been a priority before the security device. They have - we got ours before the Summer. I'm going to ask to have our current cards replaced with C&P cards early (before I go to the UK next year) because I found a lot of places wouldn't accept my card this year.

As Sakhifa said, can't you borrow someone else's computer just for 10 mins while you change your settings? I have a list which has all the children and "more sensitive" people on it so if I post something that might not be for small eyes (or in-law eyes), instead of having it visible to "friends" I go to Custom and in the "don't share with box" I type the name of the list, and all the names on that list won't see what I've posted. It tends to maintain this setting until I change it back regardless which device I next use. If you delete your FiL who will you be teaching a lesson to?

I'd pick being poor at home over being taken for a fool here. Many women in the UK are raising children single-handedly with little money but are still happy. If he's that great a father then he'll make sure they're not poor. If he's the sh*t he seems to be (no respect for his wedding vows or his wife) then best he be a sh*t in a situation where he can't make the wife's life ****, such as here.

Going to AD 4 times a week to see a friend is your choice, it's not your company's responsibility to get you there. Maybe spend the money buying a little runaround car of your own where you will pay to fuel and maintain a car that belongs to you and not the company. To be honest, I think you're very likely to get a black mark beside your name if you complain that this perk isn't generous enough for you. It's not worth the potential trouble it could cause you.

I'm not really sure where you think you have grounds for complaint. If it was your own car you'd have to pay petrol and wear and tear. Have they told you what they would charge for petrol, is it in line with the pump prices? How would they charge you for wear and tear? Maybe they've been bitten by employees using company vehicles as unofficial taxis during the weekends.

I always take my jewellery in my handbag. Wrapped up in a special jewellery roll and put at the bottom of my bag. My luggage was lost for three days on my recent trip to Europe, I would have been in melt down mode if my jewellery had been in it! Sometime I have been pulled aside at security as it shows up on the scanner, but after checking it is jewellery there is no problem. [b'>Put your bag under the seat in front of you, no problems![/b'> But don't leave it unattended if you go to the toilet. I didn't think and had my money lifted from my bag by the man sat next to me a couple of years ago.

I emailed DEFRA about brining pets in by air and I have just received this response from them, which makes it seem that currently it's manifested cargo but could change next year: Thank you for your e-mail received on the 18th August 2013 regarding transporting pets by air. Defra requires that all pets entering UK airports are able to be transported safely and securely to the pets checking facility. The procedures for doing this are set out in each airline’s required method of operation (RMOP). However, operations at airports are both sensitive and complex, and other vital border controls need to be taken into account when these procedures are agreed. In practice, this means that most pets currently travel to the UK by air as 'manifest cargo'. This not only enables the pets to be transferred efficiently to the pets checking facility, but also means that a documentary record of the pet’s arrival is available to customs and other border control officials. Please note, once an RMOP has been agreed, the details cannot be changed without the transport company re applying for approval. Thus, if the RMOP states that pets will travel as manifest cargo – this is how pets will have to travel. Defra officials are working with AHVLA, HMRC, Border Force and other operational partners to explore whether it would be practical to transport pets by air into the UK in ways other than as manifest cargo. We are pushing for a conclusion of this work this year. Any changes to the existing system will be publicised on the Defra website. Even if the manifest cargo requirement was no longer an approval condition for the transport of pets into GB by air it would, of course, remain a commercial decision for airlines to decide whether to allow pets to travel in the cabin of the aircraft or as checked baggage. The journey that actual brings the pet into the UK must be via – An authorised airline (from any airport, in any country) into UK airports on the airline’s existing RMOPs (Required Method of Operation), An approved ferry company or Eurotunnel Shuttle Service, Please see the web-link below for more information – http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/travel/pets/routes/

Actually, I wouldn't have stopped my maid going out at all, but she was with me a long time and asked me to keep her passport for her when she first arrived (we put in in the fire-proof safe and ended up showing her where it was in case she needed it :) ) I never thought I'd say this, but I miss her.

Yes, she does. What do you think about her staying in on her days off? I would let her stay in a few times, see how she reacts - is she fine, is she stroppy, and if she's happy I'd tell her she could go out after a few weeks. I'm basing all this on my maid who I trusted completely and am still in touch with even now she's back in the Philippines.

Is her visa due for renewal in that period? I wouldn't consider it unless her current visa covers the whole time period. I used to give my maid advances, although not that amount. If I were to advance that amount I would make sure I had her passport (not popular with everyone)

They've been there for 3 full years. I think the teaching in PYP is good. For the secondary I don't know if it's the teaching or the organisation, I suspect the latter. There are some good teachers but I get the feeling they can't just get on and do their job. MY older child is enrolled for 2013-14 but I think this will be the last year and I will look for an alternative for the following year (maybe sooner). Many parents have pulled their children out in favour of schools in Sharjah or overseas.
