I believe it's called etching and is a result of not having the right rinse aid in (or something) - its permanent. I've had the same problem. I've tried scrubbing, cleaning with vinegar etc and as Splinter says, it's etching and it's permanent. I do use rinse aid so I'm not sure what's causing it. I wash glasses by hand now. ETA In my case it's just the glasses. I use a dishwasher cleaner regularly. <em>edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 20/08/2013</em>

I don't have the number for SAIF but I had reason to call them last year. The lady I spoke to was really helpful so hopefully you would have the same luck.

Coffeebean, if you paste the link, highlight it and select the chain-like symbol to the right of U then it will shorten it to the word "link" itself. You can change the word "link" to something else. And thanks for the websites.

Maybe your DH thinks that with free reign you'll bankrupt him in a week. He's not refusing you money but he is making sure you can't go mad, it seems. Maybe he wants to make sure you know the true value of money before he hands everything over to you and from what you've said, you probably don't.

I have a Miele vaccum cleaner and I love it (as much as one can love a vacuum cleaner). The Miele showroom is full of appliances you never knew existed but absolutely NEED.

I would look at the quality of education rather than focusing on being taught Arabic, and choose carefully. Personally I wouldn't do it; the Sheikh's family send their kids (in our emirate) to an international school for good reason.

They may have had a point, teenagers can be quite civilised around other adults, it's just with their own parents they turn into something out of The Exorcist. Where do I sign?

As far as I know it's not possible - not on a direct flight anyway. All animals have to fly in to the UK as cargo. If you can bring the cat from Holland to the UK by car/ferry (and only to designated ports) you can fly the cat as excess baggage to Amsterdam. Shakespeare would probably be my choice (for eggs benedict). The Waldorf Astoria next to the Al Hamra Fort Hotel has just opened. There might be good breakfast options in there. There's nothing really close to MAA that I know of.

Nope, not a chance. I have cleaners who come in and their English isn't particularly good. I try telling them to do the floors first then do all the other bits and pieces after if they have time. They don't understand despite being told several times so I've given up. I can live with that. Use the same problem with trying to tell a maid to test the milk/food for heat after microwaving because you can scald the baby's mouth and it becomes a heck of a lot more serious if she doesn't understand (as one example)

Polly, that's what I've paid a deposit for. The initial cost of the bottles was quite high but I did get that back. Stops people throwing them away I guess.

We've paid a deposit with the water companies we've used. I make sure I keep it somewhere safe too. The last company were quite surprised when I actually produced the receipt after 5 years and asked for my deposit back (although they gave me no trouble). I'm not sure there's a lot you can do without your receipt as it's quite likely they will deny ever having seen it. Shame you didn't insist on them giving your receipt back when they refused to hand over the deposit there and then. Good luck, though - I think you'll need it :/

The activities take place REALLY early in the morning during the hot months. We did the sunset thing where you ride a camel into the desert and watch the sun go down with a glass of bubbles (or there's the option to travel out in a 4x4). We did this the last weekend in June and it wasn't too hot for that - wasn't humid.

I don't have to commute but I have no regrets moving to RAK. Some things can only be done/got in Dubai so we tend to make a day of it and get everything done in one go so we're not up and down the road all the time. DH travels frequently and it takes him about an hour, rarely more, to get to the airport in the mornings.

Spinneys is the only place I've seen it. I tried it over a year ago not expecting much as I'd never heard of it, but found it to be really effective. When I was in the US last year it was really popular. It's my sunscreen of choice :)

I don't think anyone's judging you for being a single parent but more making sure you re fully aware just how hard this could be in Dubai as a single parent. And I appreciate that I do, but my personal situation is different to most I don't have the help most people have when they have a child. My daughters father sees her for an afternoon 3/4 times a year if she's lucky and I don't have family support. I'm used to doing it on my own, I don't have social life like most 25 year olds my daughter if my life that what being a mum is about. I understand I will find it harder because I have a child but I'm used to doing it all on my own and that wouldn't change no matter were in world I was. I came back to say that we're not casting doubt on your ability to raise your child single-handedly, but that the red-tape and lack of support - not just family and friends - makes it a whole different game. TDB put it very well in her post at 22:38 yesterday.

Is there a school attached to the kindergarten that your DD could attend for free once she's tool old for kindergarten? That will have a huge impact if you have to start paying school fees a year or two down the line. Make sure her father will give written consent before you go any further. You said you think the only think they won't pay is accommodation. Will they be paying healthcare? Utilities? Transport? Flights home?

The battery has been out a couple of times as I've swapped SIMs. It's not a new phone either, it's definitely well over a year old. The SIM worked in someone else's BB earlier this year, and my UK SIM worked in this phone. I've searched the web but not found any answers.
