https://www.gov.uk/pet-travel-information-for-pet-owners#routes-and-transport-companies You have to scroll down a bit but there are a couple of PDF files giving info on which carriers and which ports you can use.

Correct, summer breeze. Emirates take them as cargo (which is really expensive). I was told dogs have to arrive into the UK as manifested cargo by someone in the industry.

I'm with Marrosh. That's not coldness or lack of empathy, that's plain spiteful. So sorry to hear of your loss, Buttercup, and I'm sad that the one person who should be supporting you through this is adding to your sorrow.

Would you be allowed to take a rental vehicle out of mainland Europe? Also, I guess it would also depend on where you enter the UK - whether they have animal reception facilities and whether the procedure for entering from another EU country would be different. It would be good to get clarification on this because it could mean the difference between people taking their pets home with them when they leave, or not. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 22/04/2013

I can't find the same product on this website (which is who I got my spray from) but this seems to be the same stuff [url=http://www.dubaipetstore.com/Hartz-Max-Pro-Stain---Odor-Remover-Spray--32-FLOZ-62-1519-610-p.aspx'>link[/url'>

Are you home all day? Are you able to keep her on a leash with you all day long? If so, you take her outside frequently and praise the socks off her when she does her business outside. Do some Googling too - search tings like "housetrain shelter dog". You can find some handy hints on the net. There are some sprays you can buy that remove the smell of pee and poo. Although you may have cleaned and bleached, the smell will still be there to her, and could still be a trigger. I use Hartz Pet Stain And Odour Remover.

This is what I was told by AXA insurance: "AXA cannot and should not add any named driver to a policy where they do not hold a UAE licence. It may well help for you to get a letter from the RTA confirming that the driver is ok to drive, however this would be more for your peace of mind and something to evidence to the police in the unfortunate event that something happens." Tread carefully...

I live in RAK :) Depending on where you live, there are FB pages for a couple of the communities. Also search for, and sign up for "rak-expats google" and you should find your way to a Google group. As well as posting items for sale, people also post all the events on there.

There's also the old fishing village next to Al Hamra. It's been fixed up a bit recently so I'm not sure how much is accessible now (you used to be able to clamber all over everything!) There's a bit about it here: [url=http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/heritage-culture/restored-ancient-ras-al-khaimah-village-opens-to-public-1.986066'>link[/url'>

Normally I wouldnt react but as mentioned before we all know the building standards here are very poor. Thats the only thing I am worried about. Dont want my roof collapsing on me. You would be very surprised about the quality of engineering and construction here, in a good way. The fact that your mirror is fixed up a little askew and light switches do not perfectly align does not mean that the primary concrete structure does not account for seismic. The municipality has actually very strict engineering requirements and reviews before giving permit to build. I read a few years ago that the high-rises here are built with seismic activity in mind. I have no idea if that's true :)

I meant from a legal point of view. Say for example a child driving on a public road without a licence, or being drunk in a public place, or 'relations' outside of marriage. For an adult they could carry jail time followed by deportation. A couple of us were discussing whether there's a fine instead, or if the minor has to do the jail time, if the sponsor has to do the jail time instead, or if the whole family just (just!) get deported.

Yeah, I did too. I just wondered if it's true that if your child broke the law the parent/sponsor would get a fine/jail time/deported or just urban legend. It's not really something you want to find out through experience :D

My husband threw up once late at night and when I woke up in the morning, all the vomit was there for me to clean up. He had closed the door so the smell would not permeate the apartment over night. Assuming he wasn't drunk I find it pretty sad that someone thinks it's ok to leave their vomit overnight for someone else to clean up :(

I would wait until she has passed her ugly teen years. She may use this as her lever....and they can be nasty the girls, with all of those hormones. When you do tell her, [b'>she will then understand why you waited[/b'>, especially if there was no biological father for her to hunt down. If my parents waited until I was an adult to tell me that my father wasn't my biological father I certainly wouldn't be understanding, I'd be angry and hurt that I'd been lied to my entire life. This.

I think she needs to know Pikachu, especially if he's on the birth certificate. If he's not, she might want to know why it's left blank. Also for potential health issues later in life. Often you're asked if certain conditions are hereditary and it would be a waste to talk about health issues of a relative you're not actually related to. I'm not sure how the right time ever DOES present itself.

I see it on the map but unfortunately the street it's on isn't numbered. From the E311, you'll turn right at the roundabout at 'the end of E311' where you can only turn left or right. You'll go over two flyovers, with The Cove Rotana on your left as you go over the first one and a KFC and Pizza Hut on the right at the second one. Stay over to the right and you'll come to a roundabout with a white tent and a clock at the top of the tent. You'll turn right at this roundabout. You'll now be on Khuzam Road. Look for the U-turns coming INTO your side of the road (ie the ones you can't take) and after the second one take the 3rd turning and Khuzam gym is on your left. Don't panic if you miss it, you can take a a U-turn or go a bit further and do a U-turn at the traffic lights and go around again. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 12/04/2013

We are trying to sell our place and what these agents keep telling us is that they have a "serious cash buyer". Also as the keys are with us they all say that their client is traveling this evening/tomorrow morning so they want to view the property NOW. So from a seller's point of view ALL the buyers seem to have lots of cash and travel a lot :) We've got our first viewers coming in an hour so we'll be joining you on the property-selling joyride :( We do seem to have a decent agent though and has already told me to expect time-wasters :D

This isn't so revolutionary. We've been able to use Skype for quite some time now, as long as you got your account and downloaded the app elsewhere. But only for Skype to Skype though? I couldn't call from Skype to landline/mobile without a VPN.

I'm sorry for you but your only option is for you to have it cut out by a plastic surgeon.A friend of mine had a huge one in his neck and the P surgeon cut it out...no skin draft was needed...he was lucky, LOL! You're a bit out of date! I'd be interested to know how you get on Maroosh. I have one, it's only small, but I'd love to get it removed.

I am wondering here...as I am not a gran yet but fingers crossed, one day I will be :)......anyway, I think your friend should inform the grandparents when the child is born to let them know about their grandchild. They might/could embrace the child/or not of course but..if it was me, I would want to know so I at least can make the decision for myself whether I would accept the child or not (I personally would without question :). I also feel she should give her child her name and not his as they are not married. He can be named in the birth cert but if she is raising the child alone then the child should carry her name. No reason to carry the fathers as he does not want any part of the child's life :( If OP's friend is going back to UK she cannot put the father's name on birth certificate if they are not married unless he is in attendance.

Yes. I left mine with DH when my youngest was 2. The longest I've left them was a week when my youngest was 6. Generally, all parties concerned have a blast. As long as the person left in charge of the kids is trustworthy and responsible then it's a good idea.
