With the dog water, the OP came back and explained that she did provide her dog with drinking water all day but he had been having some problems and the vet suggested just providing it at mealtimes. So yes, at first look it seemed idiotic but she just wanted to check others thoughts on her vets suggestion. If she'd mentioned that first then she would have got answers accordingly. Drip-feeding info is never a good idea as people can only comment on what they have been told which, as in this case, wasn't the full story. Had she mentioned this important info in her OP I would have suggested she contact her vet for clarification and mention when she normally feeds the dog and ask if that's frequent enough to give water. To me, coming on and asking if it's ok to just only offer water twice a day without mentioning the vet's advice is either daft or intentionally asking for a flaming. flowerhead, I'm not sure I follow you. I answered the OP on the other thread with several sentences, not just one. More cryptic than sarcastic? :)

DH took me to an adult-only hotel a couple of weeks ago. I have to say it was wonderful to not have any children there (spoken as a mother myself). I think there are plenty of places here you [u'>can[/u'> take children so I do enjoy a little time in places where you can't.

As dog water was mentioned in the OP, I'll go with that one. I've been out all morning so don't know if the thread where the OP was asking if she should supply her dog with water all day or just when it eats in morning and evening is still here. I did say that I couldn't believe anyone could be that stupid, and I'll stand by that (fwiw I don't believe it was genuine). Would I say that to someone's face? You can bet your next manicure I would. There are many posts on here which I find frustrating, largely because people have a difficult mindset to me. Doesn't mean I'm right or they're wrong, we're just different so I'll try to bear that in mind as I post. But when someone appears not to know whether to supply an animal with drinking water all day, seriously?? We're supposed to tiptoe around that?

We connected through Seattle last month. As we flew in over the city I thought it would be somewhere I'd love to visit, so I'm jealous :) Using random dates in July, Qatar and Jet Blue were the cheapest ($1580 per adult) through Doha and JFK and total travel time of 25 hours. Shortest journey is Emirates direct, which is the flight we took, at 14 hr 20 mins and $2000 each, which is actually cheaper than many of the indirect flights that Expedia throws up.

I am more concerned about the drugs the horses have had in their lifetime, are they halal? and the latest news that they may have been donkeys and not horses after all. This will have the donkey rights activists chewing their bit alright. Oh really? Interesting. Doesn't Islam forbid the consumption of donkey meat? Correct. Donkey meat is not halal. Everyday's a school day :) Why is donkey meat considered not to be halal? Does the same apply to pony and horse, or just donkey? Thank you.

Sit tight, I'm sure hs tanty will blow over. I'd try to get those meds gone, their side effects are horrible internally. He's verbally abused her, he's told her to get the "eff out of his house, hes threatened to pull the children out of bed, he's hidden the children's passports, he's threatened to take her kids, he's threatened to report her for adultery (and potentially get the mother of his children arrested) and this is a 'tanty'? Dear god, I'd hate to know what you class as real trouble! I don't think this IS a tantrum and I sure as he11 wouldn't be treating it as such, I'd be treating it a whole lot more seriously and taking legal advice pronto.

We had all this **** in the aftermath of the great Lakes sell-off. Our landlady left in in the hands of an agent who thought it was fine to arrange 6 viewings in one afternoon. I, with two young kids, a dog and a DH overseas thought it was not so fine so I quoted the bit in the lease which stated we had the right to enjoy living there in peace and told her to **** off and sell her house in her own time, not mine.

I'm sorry, I'm really not familiar with Ajman, it's just somewhere we drive through to get to Dubai or to get home :) If your DH will be working in Dubai then he'll be out of the home for a good few hours. I'm not aware of any compounds or communities in Ajman so you'd be in an apartment or villa in a mixed area so mainly with locals or Asians. I think you'd find that pretty lonely because the people around you are very unlikely to invite you in for coffee or playdates. If there's a park nearby then most children will probably be there with their maids so again, you'd be sitting on your own with your children. Unless you have a chilled pool very close by, and I'm not sure of the likelihood of that in Ajman, you won't be spending any time outside from May to October so you'll need to amuse yourselves. There's Ajman City Centre Mall which I think would get bring VERY quickly and which would probably be a taxi ride away. Anything else of interest would be a taxi ride away too. Summers are crippling here and on AED 25k a month could you and the kids afford to fly home for the summer months? Most people leave for the summer. Your DH would probably spend at least AED 500 a month on fuel and you could well be spending at least that on taxi fares if you have no car. If DH is out at work all day you'll need to try and manage kids and carseats in taxis everywhere, including grocery shopping, and if you're in an apartment, get it all up to your apartment. I'd budget for AED 2500 - 3000 a month for food. The UAE is not a cheap place to live. Hopefully someone who knows ore about Ajman can help, but I don't know anyone who lives in Ajman (and that could well be for good reason), but personally, I can't think of one reason to move to Ajman for 25k.

My first thought was our credit card bill is usually more than that! Personally, 20k a month isn't worth the upheaval to ME, others may say it's fine. Also, I wouldn't be too struck on living in Ajman. I could be doing it a great disservice but I'm not aware of too much to do there or too many western expats living there so it could be a bit lonely. I'm not sure what age children [i'>must[/i'> start school but it would be unusual for a child to start in year 2 (at 6 year old). The one international school in Ajman is 30k per year so averages out at AED 2500 a month - out of your AED 20k. Then there's uniform and books plus transport if you only have one car and your DH can't do the school run. Sorry, but everything you say is screaming DON'T DO IT to me.

We ended up going to Cilek and bought a bed there. I'd forgotten about them which is ridiculous as DS's last bed was Cilek :) We tried Pottery Barn but the beds were all around AED 2.5k plus another AED 1900 for the mattress.

There is a bus that runs between RAK and Dubai. I'm not sure if it's RAK Transport or Al Hamra taxi, but it's all the same number. Call 800 1700 and ask - they're usually pretty helpful.

I was thinking that you need to lay down the law to your husband all the way through your thread, then I got to the end. If you really ARE leaving then I would, as someone else suggested, suck it up. It's only for a few months, it keeps him and the inlaws happy then in a few months you'll be free. If it's only a possibility then I think I'd be putting my foot down and doing a little less to please them, and a little more to suit myself and the kids. For him to insist that you do what he and the inlaws want all the time isn't being particularly respectful to you. Is he this bullheaded over most things, or just where hi parents are concerned?
