We stayed in the Swissotel The Stamford. Don't know their nightly rate or if it's in the right area (near Marina Bay SAnds, but in has MRT station below the hotel complex) but we had 2adults and 2 kids.

Agree with smiler. My parents buy what they want from The Cellar in RAK or Barracuda and carry it in their suitcases. (not sure if that's strictly allowed, but it's not a security issue anyway :) )

...and I know this is a loooooong shot but I'll ask anyway. We have a rescue dog who needs to get to a new home in Canada and will go as excess baggage on KLM. For this he needs a passenger who can claim him as excess baggage. His flight will be paid for by us and all the paperwork, checking-in etc will also be handled by us - we just need a 'name' to attach him to. Please email me on lazylakite @ yahoo . co . uk if you can help or need more information. Thank you! :) Is anybody flying DXB - AMS - YYZ with KLM in the foreseeable future?

I used to pay the extra to have it all done for me but since they've streamlined the process I don't think it's worth paying for.

Personally, no (speaking as someone who was in a large age-gap relationship in the past). Too much chance of you both moving in different directions as you want different things out of life at different ages. Works for some, I guess.

If your car is under 3 years old so doesn't need to be tested, do it online. Your insurance company will pass your insurance details onto the RTA. Once you've done it online you will be emailed a temporary registration document and your reg card and number plate sticker will be couriered to you.

I'm sorry that happened when you just wanted to help someone mpp_jl. Unfortunately some people are just plain rude. It could be worse though, check this out: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4610838/House-ransacked-after-Craigslist-yard-sale.html Daza the comments are even funnier!!! "I'm glad they left those chairs. I would have left those chairs." :D

If Emirates Road isn't too busy you can go past AR and Global Village and join the bypass from the E66 (Al Ain Road).

You guys must have much better eyesight than I do as I can't see any hint of a nose, cute button or big old beak, at all! But you're right Beebers, it's too easy to critcise and I do rather like the whole [b'>Mrs Nike rebrand logo.[/b'> Maybe EW will add the line "Just type it"

She does have a nose. If we could see it better I'm sure it would be a cute button nose.

I'm glad it wasn't worse for you and hope you're recovered now. Our beach is on a lagoon and I've taken photos of stingrays a metre across basking just a metre or so from the water's edge.

Ice Land is ok but probably not worth the drive from Dubai. Some of it seems tatty already even though it's only been open 2 years and I'm not convinced the staff are the best trained.

I got that from the customs website but AED 3000 seems high to me. I know I've had to pay duty several times but I can't remember the details as the last couple of things I've ordered were above AED 3000.

According to UAE Customs it's AED 3000 and I believe it's 5% of the value.

Wow! Although, the AED 480 is a deposit and you must ensure you get a receipt then when you hand the bottle back you can get that money back. I paid 160 for a 20kg bottle and 130 for the gas inside. I'm not in Dubai so my supplier won't be of use to you.

No, but size-wise not far off. :) I hope we don't have to get one made as it is going as excess/checked baggage so can't be made from wood.

I'm sorry, I must be missing something here, but why all the coyness in this thread about the word "period"? It's making us seem like a bunch of Victorian aunts. If people here believe that it's in some way offensive to the local culture, I would ask them to kindly open their eyes and note that feminine hygiene products - along with condoms - are openly sold here with no restrictions at all. There is absolutely no need for censorship of the word. I know, it makes you wonder why women skirt around the issue of having the painters in.

I like bulk-making a few for the freezer. Just mix all the ingredients up, divide it amongst a few meal-sized freezer bags and freeze. Cook from frozen on the day. Tip: don't flatten the mixture out in the freezer bag, it won't fit in the slow cooker :)
