I arrived back last week and waited about 10-15 minutes. Other times I've waited closer to 45 minutes. I think it depends largely on how many staff they have manning the desks and how many planes arrive at the same time. with the arrival of 1 A380 you can have 500 people swarming into immigration. Sorry, not a lot of help :)

Yes they are similar. The one thing they have which my Crock Pot doesn't is an "Auto" function. On the Lakeland one it says the Auto keeps food at serving temperature, the Kenwood website doesn't say what the Auto function is for but the spec. says it doesn't have a keep-warm function.... The Crock Pot has High, Low and Warm. Some models cook for a specific time then switch to warming (on auto) so the food isn't overcooked. The Crock Pot says that food can be cooked on Low for extended periods of time. I didnt find any here that had electronic timers.

Crock Pot make a bigger version (5.7L) but this is the biggest that Lakeland carry. Kenwood make a 6.5L one which is available here - I've seen one in Spinneys very recently.

Today I bought the Crock Pot 4.7L slow cooker from Lakeland in MCC. They also carry their own brand in 3.5L and 1.5L versions.

I've been to Decathlon this afternoon, I wish I'd thought to check for these while I was in there doh! As for grocery shopping there's Geant at Ibn Battuta and Hyperpanda at Festival city - both hypermarkets like C4/Lulu. Also try Union Co-op.

I've just brought one back from the US. The only other person I know with one brought hers back from the UK. They're not very heavy. I've just weighed mine and it's just under 1.2kg. Thanks, it's good to know the shop and shop fees won't be too much, probably cheaper to buy it in the uk and ship over that pay Spinneys prices in the first place If you have a shop & ship account, check out the US too. The prices might be cheaper there but the shipping costs will be the same regardless of whether you buy in the US or the UK.

One downside on the Miele is you have to get the parts from their World Trade Centre Office now. I used to buy the bags at Jacky's but only Miele supply them now. I have not checked the price yet. Yes, that's a downside for me, especially living in RAK. I bought a few boxes at once. Their showroom on SZR sells them cheaper than I found them on the internet.

I made the switch from Dyson to Miele a few months ago following a recommendation on here and I'm perfectly happy with it. It actually makes the tiles feel clean once they're vacuumed and the turbo head that came with it (I got the Cat & dog model) does a great job of lifting pet hairs from the rugs.

Between the kids and I we had 20kg spare. I'm not doing it right :D You didn't stock up enough that's why.. Will be waiting for a new thread from you with all the things you miss lol We travelled out very light and did buy a fair amount both in the UK and the US (cr@P like enamelled water bowl for the dogs from my favourite brewery). My problem wasn't weight but volume. I had a large suitcase and two very large holdalls. The kids had their own carry-ons so the rest was left with me to deal with. I need a porter :)

sanddy, if you are referring to Crock Pot brand of slow cookers, then no, I dont think they have them as I believe they are only carrying their own Lakeland brand. Their biggest size is 3.5L. I too wanted a big one but alas no luck. Thanks. I'll give Lakeland MCC a call tomorrow I think (I didn't read your previous post properly first time round).

Lakeland MOE apparently don't sell slow cookers any longer - they only have them in Abu Dhabi ... let me know if they've given me the wrong information. I'd be heading to MCC. I live in RAK so don't want a wasted journey so I will call ahead of time and post back with what I get told.

Wow i'm totes buying one, not that I dont have enough kitchen appliances stashed in the cupboard but it sounds really easy, plus DH loves a warming stew or a chilli regardless of whether it's 45 degrees outside! Pressure cookers scare me with their hissing steam and I'm nervous the top will blow off like Di's (can't imagine the cleanup job there! ouch) Trotting off to Lakeland this weekend, doubt I will walk out just with a slow cooker but hey! Thanks ladies! :) Can you make a note of the price of the Crock Pot one please? :D

BIL & SIL are trying to find the above but so far with no success. They're looking to move in at the end of the month (they know that they have to commit straight away and that a LL won't reserve a place for that long without payment). If anyone knows of anywhere that's maybe not advertised, or obvious, or of a decent agent who could help them please let me know! Budget 140, absolute tops 150k. Thanks!

Yup, hated my ceramic hob. Mine is built in so we left the oven and changed the hob for a gas one. With my ceramic one I had to work out what needed to be boiled and when because I could only use 2 rings at a time and only one on high or the others would turn themselves down to 1, or even off. It got marked very easily and was difficult to clean.

It's all doing my head in! My kids have learned some new words! I am surprised at how much I already love Dubai (other than the heat right now) and am keen to get into a groove, but I'm wondering if trying to move last minute to DBS just to save the hassle factor makes sense. What do you think? [b'> I have no idea, I don't even know where DBS is, nor the Springs, I just know that I will never know. [/b'> And on a side note, where do you go lobster fishing? If the OP has a high-risk pregnancy, as she insinuated in her post to shaks earlier, then I can't see any doctor on the planet passing her as fit to fly (I don't know if low-risk pregnancies are cleared to fly at 38 weeks are they?) Also, I think anyone classed as high risk would be very foolish indeed to consider giving birth anywhere except hospital. OP, do you have family who could lend you money to cover costs if need be?

I've always preferred gas but hated it here. I think the problem may be with the supply coming through bottles and the regulators. The two ovens I had were always hit and miss with the temperature. I had to have a separate thermometer in the oven and "guess" where to turn the temperature knob. I know have an electric oven and a gas hob which is the perfect combination for me too.

Do you want a new one because I've got a lovely Kettler that's doing a great job as a clothes hanger :D. Has clip-on heart-rate monitor, different workouts, adjustable foot positions, very smooth and quiet.
