Good! It's too late to save those 19 who died recently, but at least the authorities are treating it as the wake-up call that it is.

We have our gas bottle outside. We don't have a cupboard but I do have a cover on it to keep the sun off.

Lovely, thanks Ladies! Mich, I'll try that salad another time, it sounds lovely. I'll give the halloumi a miss today then, as I want to prepare a salad ahead of time.

It squeaks when you bite it, doesn't it? I wanted to grill it then put in a salad but wasn't sure if it would stay soft. I can't try it first because I'll eat it before it gets a chance to cool.

I had similar at the end of last year. There seemed to be no movement at all for ages after it was received at my NY address then all of a sudden I was notified that it was ready for collection over here.

Excellent!! I think of you often because up here it's the majority who do not strap their kids in. There seems to be little or no awareness. And the driving up here is ****.

All the licence-free places in the northern Emirates close during Ramadan. I'd be very surprised if that changed this year.

As MF said, only you know your DH. My DH hates being in the house alone (despite the fact he's away more than 50% of the time so....). Even so, he would be upset if I went against his wishes. If I were in your situation I would spell it out and make it clear it's affordable and how much we'd want him to be there, but I'd leave the final decision to him. (How do you know it's ok with his employer?)

Is it appropriate anywhere in the world to do what she did? Not in my opinion, [b'>but then i thought her putting her hand down her trousers revolting as well.[/b'> She has lowered herself to a new level and if this is what she has to do to sell tickets it's really sad. Why can't music be just that? Why do we have to have naked bodies gyrating to sell music? What sort of role model is she behaving like this? In this heat? Urgh!

In this case it's the maid's decision to return home finally. The sponsors just hoped they wouldn't have to traipse all the way to AD immigration again just so the maid could sign, and were hoping the signature could be done at the airport. From what you're saying, the maid has to go back to AD imm with her sponsor and sign the cancellation papers before she takes her flight back home, is that correct? Also, does the sponsor have to be at the airport when she leaves, even though she wants to go home?

Thanks. So did the maid sign at DXB? The maid is leaving from DXB but they are on AD visas. The sponsor did as much as he could at immigration in AD but didn't have the maid with him to sign. They want to know if they have to take the maid to AD to sign or if the maid can just sign at immigration on her way out through DXB airport.

That's when the "Did you mean for that to sound so rude?" line should be trotted out. Next time I'm 'tail-gated' around a shop I'm going to say "Can I help you" to the assistant who's attached herself to my shoulder. Inspired by EW :D

If not in a freezone, it has to be done at immigration? Maid has to sign as part of the cancellation procedure? If so does she do that at immigration where the visa was issued? Can it be done at the airport? If so, can it be done in an airport in a different emirate to where her visa was issued? Thanks :)

It doesn't detail the process for homeowners. Surely they have to jump through hoops as well as tenants?

We did and did plenty of people we knew. It was what we wanted - to have someone keeping an eye on the place, watering plants, looking after pets etc. BUT...we trusted her completely and that's what it boils down to - are you comfortable leaving her alone in your house?

Are you absolutely sure the arrangement you had was 100% legal? I'd make sure of that before I try involving people high up the food chain.
