I am a very passive facebook user. Today I checked my wall and noticed that apparently I "recommended" a link somewhere in March. Believe me, it is not a link I would ever want to "recommend". Must have pressed something by accident, but I really don't remember. Is there a way to delete that "recommendation" from my wall? Go to your profile page and if you see it under ACTIVITY you can delete it by hovering your cursor over the thing you've liked and a 'x' should appear on the right hand side of the box which will allow you to delete it.

I did some research online about vacuum cleaners and Miele came up quite a few times. There's only one outlet in Dubai (Sama Tower near Fairmont Hotel). I contacted them by email and found them very efficient. I schlepped all the way down there from RAK to buy the Cat & Dog one and I have to agree, it's fantastic. Thanks for the info :)

Agree with Claire. Our LL a few years ago approached us and said she was more than happy for us to put a pool in the garden, she had no objections whatsoever. We said no as it's not something we'd want in our own garden let alone a rental. So glad we did because she was already plotting to sell the place and evict us.

Can't pay cash as I'd have to travel to Deira and I really cba. My friend who organised it doesn't have a card so it's down to me. Would I have myself covered if I were to give the figure of 50% and write on it that I give my permission to take money only in the event of a no-show (thinking if I need to dispute with cc company later).

Well I just drove to end of Hessa street and was forced onto Emirates road all the way down to Green community - could not see how you can get accross Emirates road???? Am I thinking of wrong flyover - are you talking about going to end of Al Khal and getting accross that way - by cricket stadium?? Very confused. I did the same thing. I think it was a previous poster saying no more Hessa st/Umm seq st madness that made me think that Hessa st was sorted

Click on your name at the top. Under your cover pic there'll be a box with tiny pics of 6 of your friends and underneath that box it'll say "Friends" with the number of friends you have. Click on that box. If you can see the person you want to defriend run your cursor over their name (don't click) and a box will pop up. In the bottom right of that box will be the word Friends with a tick to the left of it. Hover your cursor over the word *Friends and a drop down menu will appear. At the bottom of that menu you can select Unfriend. If you can't see them then type their name into the search box (where it says "Type a friend's name). When their name appears click on it and you'll be taken to their profile. Just under their cover pic you'll see the box with a tick and the word Friends. Follow from * in paragraph above. You appear to be an expert. Do you have any friends left? jk of course ;) Not any more, I've just deleted them all making sure that what I wrote in my previous post actually worked.

HI everyone, I went to the typing centre on Thurs, and received the text message on Thurs evening saying I have an appointment on 10 October! Seems rather farm away - or is this normal? What do I need to do at the appointment? Is it another medical? Thanks x Not sure how that would work as you're supposed to have your card by the end of this month! DH and I got our appointments while we were still in the typing centre, for over a month away, and miles away from the ID centre we were currently at. We just went straight to the typing centre and were given ticket numbers to get our biometrics captured there and then. Might be worth just taking the paperwork you have to an ID centre.

Fisher paykel I have an F&P fridge (not fridge/freezer) and although it's a lovely design it's a PITA. It seems to make ice (like I said, it doesn't have a freezer) which I can hear drop in the back somewhere. It must melt and leaks into the fridge which then leaks out over the floor. I had people (aka 3 men and one screwdriver) out while it was still under warranty who succeeded in doing nothing except denting the fridge floor. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it (I think someone on here also said it might not have been the best choice). <em>edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 05/05/2012</em>

It's a PITA! They sent DH one key for our local accounts and one for our offshore accounts, but not one to me. DH and I spend most of our time in different countries so we need to work out which one of us is most likely to need it. I can get my own securekey for our local accounts but I can't see all the accounts from my own log-in *sigh*

Years ago my boss sent an email round to everyone saying he would be on holiday the following week so all enquiries should be directed to a certain manager. I added an insult about the manager and instead of forwarding it on to a friend in the same company i hit reply and sent it back to my boss.

those food delivery drivers on bikes who come up at traffic lights, squeeze past your car and park themselves right in front of you? Argh! Think they are out to get me this week! :\: They really **** me off when I'm at the front of the queue for the lights as I then have to wait for them to go before I can move off.

I contacted the Miele dealer *titter* in Dubai and the model I was looking at (S 5261 Cat & Dog) is AED 1530 which is slightly cheaper than the UK.

Its not all HSBC premier cards, its only Mastercard (had to get one specially as I only have visa). I would have disagreed with you there. The website says "HSBC PREMIER Credit Card", it doesn't specify which type. To gain access to the lounge it says "Show a valid HSBC Premier Card (with or without "World" on the card face), Issued by HSBC Bank Middle East Limited" - doesn't say which type. However, in the bit I quoted below it says "provided always that full payment for this service is made using an HSBC Premier [b'>MasterCard[/b'> Credit Card." Very murky inofrmation from them....

I don't know if you already know this, but if you have a locally issued platinum visa or mastercard (eg. RAK bank, NBD etc) you get free access to the Maharba lounge. Its not posh, but they do have grape and barley based beverages, a good selection of soft drinks, and a limited range of food, which considering its free, isn't bad going! And at least you get a comfy seat! Also for HSBC Premier customers. I've just looked. I could have saved myself a fortune in the bar over the years :D So, HSBC Premier customers can access the Maharba lounge also. Now, quick question, can you take a guest in that isn't a HSBC premier or RAK etc etc ? Taken from HSBC website: Free to HSBC Premier cardholders. HSBC Premier Credit Cardholderare entitled to purchase an additional access for guest/spouse/childetc. at the rate of AED 70 per passenger provided always that full payment for this service is made using an HSBC Premier MasterCard Credit Card. Up to two children below 12 years of age shall be allowed to enter the Lounge, on a complimentary basis, when they are accompanied by an HSBC Premier Credit Cardholder

Is HSBC a swear word now, then? We've been with them both in Oman and here and haven't had any real concerns. Not outstanding, but haven't given us any headaches either. Any issues we've had have always been resolved.

I agree with saying something but surely it was the father was responsible for his child? I agree one hundred percent with everyone saying I should have said something to the father....but I froze and by then they had both disappeared and it was only 10 minutes later when the maid re-appeared that I said something. I know father is culpable but surely maid should know better as well? Someone said she didn't understand what I was saying....I can tell you 100% sure she knew exactly what I was saying and hoped not to seem so.... MonkeyFace: Too long-winded for you? Let's break it down..... Kid pees on floor...Dad and maid ignore it. Peopld walk through it. Dad runs but I collect myself and manage to confront maid who understands english VERY well. When is the best day to go do you think? I would like to try it. Sick of paying Spinneys' prices. I had no preference but it is worth going as early as you can. Deira is open from 7am; I would always get there around 9am and there is still plenty of choice of everything.

Oh, and something I would recommend doing is making a note of fruit, veg, fish etc prices at Carrefour/Spinneys before you go so you know what is a good price per kilo. I was frequently quoted a price more than Carrefour so I would say no thanks, too expensive. If you don't know the value of what you're buying it's very easy to get ripped off.

Which one is this Mohandissa? i was at Deira on sunday and I've noticed big changes since I first started going there a few years ago. Everyone at Deira has a uniform, colour coded depending on whether they're a barrow boy or work in the meat, fish, or F&V section. They all have a number on their uniforms too so I assume they're all legitimate. My DH hates going there as he can't stand the vendors all yapping at him but I don't mind. It's annoying but good natured and I've never found them to be rude.

Take the next right after the Iranian hospital. There are a few down the end of that street. At the end you can turn right then immediately left into a car park which is a pretty central location to park then wander around.
