Good grief, talk about s**t you don't need! Have they told you what they actually expect from you? did you get on with them before all this? Maybe take comfort that they act like loons with other people too, not just you. I don't have any advice but I hope you get it sorted soon. Or they move...

[b'>Start with your shopping list[/b'> Cleaning products, detol, polish, bleach, toilet duck etc Wooden hangers and suit covers (optional) Feather duster Wicker baskets/ plastic storage baskets (I would buy baskets that coordinate with the room) Draw organizers [b'>Bedroom 1,[/b'> start by taking all the clothes out of the wardrobe put them into bags ie recycling, ebay, charity etc and label the bags so you don’t make a mistake. Clean inside the wardrobe so its dust free once the wardrobe is clean put the clothes back in order of size for example evening dresses, day dresses, skirts, blouses, T shirts. I colour code the clothes so they go from the darkest to the lightest colour (but I’m super ****) Face all the hangers the same way to save space. De clutter all your draws. Wash all the bed covers and sheets so the bed is bare. Now you can clean the room. Use the feather duster to dust round the ceiling and light fittings to get rid of cobwebs and dust. Clean all the windows, mirrors and glass Clean all woodwork, doors, skirting boards and window frames (I use water with a little bit of bleach) Get rid of any dirty marks on the walls Hover the bed and floor and insides of draws. Clean inside the draws with polish Wash the floor (I use detol because I think it makes everywhere smell nice and clean) Now you can put everything back in an organized way. Use the baskets for extra storage on top of the wardrobe, its much easier to find something in a basket. http://rubbermaidclosetorganizers.com/rubbermaid-closet-organizer-systems/john-louis-home-standard-closet-shelving-system-red-mahoga If you have a maid I would do it with her then she will know how you like things to be kept. Its the same for every room [b'>really have fun [/b'> :) <laughs hysterically>

Thanks for the info, that helps. I guess the vehicle will be inspected when it's "imported" into the Emirate in which it will be registered.

Yes. I don't know what the concerns are, maybe ask your doctor. I would assume (but don't know) that because the risk of miscarriage is higher in the first trimester that may be where the concerns come in, especially on a long haul flight.

Pepito, "cups" are a measure of volume rather than weight. You can buy sets of measuring cups an lots of different shops. Carrefour, Spinneys, Lakeland, @Home are all likely to stock them. http://www.lakeland.co.uk/15636/Colourworks-4-Measuring-Cups http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/Dictionary/D/Dry-measuring-cups-4885.aspx

RAKESS is only split in Primary, the BC currently has no Secondary School. There is one being built, but has been under construction for over two years and it doesn't look like it's going to be done any time soon. The Secondary school follows a modified BC programme.

Maybe you're thinking of RAKAAG (RAK American Academy for Girls)? I think boys are only taken to something like year 3 and it's not very "American" as the vast majority of girls are local. The website is pretty cr@p but take a look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean http://www.rakaag.ae/#7 I only know of one child who went there and her parents pulled her out before last summer. ETA. RAKESS (now RAK Academy) and RAKAAG are the only schools taking Western expats afaik (there are Indian school etc). <em>edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 12/03/2012</em>

Up north's where I am, it's windy, I swear. But luckily I can't see that darned sand anywhere. These high winds we've had for three days in a row, But to look on the bright side, it's not so cold that there's snow.

Does the KHDA only cover Dubai or the whole UAE? Should imagine it only covers Dubai - the acronym seems to stand for Knowledge and Human Development Authority Dubai and I can't find a reference to a KHDA in any of the other emirates. Ok, so I won't get upset that I've just paid AED2000 for each child :)

Hints are a waste of time. I write a list of what I want, like murrtje, in different price levels. Still waiting on the Aston... BUT.....DH came up with a corker for my birthday this year without asking me what I wanted. We have two kids; the 4 of us is our complete family. At his suggestion I had a ring made with the birthstones of all 4 of us. I chose the design myself and had it made - it's beautiful (shameless plug for Julie at Clarity there). Top marks for him there :)

Oh Gummy, I feel so sad on your behalf. I think taking your children with you would possibly be the best solution so you won't be worrying about them back here. As others have said, people will rally round and help out. The true goodness of people often doesn't shine through until a crisis. There's not a lot we can do on a practical level but I hope you can take some comfort in knowing we EWers are thinking of you x

I'll go with Urban Dictionary's definition, thanks :)

You'll need to check with the airline/s you'll be using. This is taken from the Emirates website: [i'>If you are pregnant we will carry you after your 28th week of gestation only if you produce to us a medical report or letter, signed by an appropriately qualified doctor or midwife, stating your due date, and confirming that your pregnancy is uncomplicated. The report or letter should also advise us of the latest date up to which you are expected to be fit to travel. In addition, you will require prior clearance from our medical department for travel after the 35th week of gestation for flights exceeding 4 hours and after the 36th week of gestation for any flight. [/i'>

The new owner has to get their own insurance. If you have any time remaining on your own insurance be sure to remember to cancel it with your insurers. You will need a copy of the new owner's registration card to prove you have sold the car to the insurers before they'll issue you with a refund. No, you don't get any refund on the registration. It's only a few hundred dirhams a year anyway, isn't it?

Thanks Ladies, ill have a look at her stuff Her shop doesn't have racks and racks of stuff on display but I used this website [url=http://www.jewlr.com/'>link[/url'> to create what I wanted and took a picture of it in to her. Julie's team re-created it perfectly.

Just to add, I visited Julie at Clarity last week after seeing her name keep cropping up on here. I presented her with a picture of what I wanted and she gave me a quote I was happy with. I told her to go ahead and make it and picked it up a few days ago. It's identical to the picture and I'm over the moon with it. Julie is lovely to deal with and went that little bit further to accommodate her. I wouldn't hesitate to use her again or to recommend her.

Your bags still needs to be tagged and passport still need to be checked,so I dont really get this online check-in thing either. Has never saved me any time. You can get away with pitching up at the airport 30 mins later and you can get your boarding pass for your assigned seat when you check in online so fewer stresses wondering if your party is going to be scattered all over the aircraft.
