Seriously woman..enough! Having another baby ain't gonna make him stay with you...in fact Brad is due over in an hour to do my ironing ;) Can you ask him to pop over soon as he's done? TIA :) Would you settle for Johnny Depp, he might be free sooner.

I think Sharjah or RAK are your only options. I looked into International schools between Sharjah and RAK and couldn't find any. There's a website which lists all the schools in each Emirate. If I remember it I'll update.

The age gaps falls into the "half her age plus 7" rule. It'll be fine.

TBH, if they are going out in the evening, am presuming that the children will be in bed - is it really such a hardship to keep an eye on them if you are in the house anyway? Sorry i really don't get the issue you have in doing this. I am sorry OP, but I am with izzy. Normally I would too but as the OP explained her kids are ill and she is absolutely exhausted, I think she can do without being on-call for someone else's kids as well as her own after she's gone to bed.

Not too sure about apartments. There should be some coming up maybe next month in Mina Al Arab as the first block will be handed over next month. Other apartments are Musalla close to the school (RAKESS) and there are also apartments in Al Hamra Marina - Marina, Oceana and Royal Breeze. They around start from AED 50k - look here [url=http://www.huntandharris.com/search.php?searchtype=RENT&city=Ras+Al+Khaimah&location=Al+Hamra+Village&category=APARTMENT&bedrooms=2&amountmin=0&amountmax=10000000&submit=Search+Property'>link[/url'> Cost of living is about the same. Alcohol, if it's your thing, is available in various outlets including MMI and A&E but without the 30% tax. Electricity can be the thing. If you're on a FEWA connection then same price as Dubai, but if you're on a temp connection and Royal Breeze, some of Oceana and Mina Al Arab are then its 40-45 fils per unit flat rate. There's really only one school, RAKESS (Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School) and fees are here http://rakess.net/ Quite different lifestyle to Dubai, much more sedate, much smaller community.

A shoe stretcher :) Try Clark's or Hush Puppies. I've seen them somewhere but can't remember where. It may have been one of those two stores.

Another Nikon fan here. DH bought me a Nikon for christmas years ago and I loved it. 3 years ago I got the P6000 which is a bit larger than than most compact camera but has a proper viewfinder, a feature i love in bright conditions when you can't see the screen. This Christmas I got the Nikon AW100 - the waterproof camera and I just love it! I would only choose between Nikon and Canon, personally.

I've got 7,000 miles expiring the end of next month. Not enough to do anything with flight-wise so I was looking on the High Street. I can't believe how "expensive" everything is on there!

I thought that the deeds were held by whoever "owns" the property held them, and in the case of a mortgaged property it's the lender (that's how I remember it in the UK years ago anyway). I wondered if it was the same here.

Good point about the embassy! For now he's happier to stay in his hotel in a quiet unaffected area than run the gauntlet of traveling through the heavily populated poor areas that he'd need to cross to get to the airport. Not only that, the drivers arranged by the client are striking and there's no other safe way to travel. Virgin, BA and EK are still flying there so it's not critical yet. He's not overly concerned so ii guess I should relax a bit :)

TBH BM, I don't know how evacuation is handled. At the moment he's under the care of the client. They know where he is and have said they will make the necessary arrangements to get him out of needs be.

I've just spoken to him and he's ok. He's spoken to the client who's advised him that his hotel, out of the main part of the city is the safest place to be. I think a meeting will be held to put a plan in place if it does all go t**s up, but they expect it to be resolved quickly. They also said the airport is closed which seems to be unlikely given that EK sent their morning flight to Lagos out an hour ago (5 hours late but it's still en route). Virgin and BA haven't cancelled their flights yet either. all 3 airlines have been operating this week. I'm hoping he's confident for good reason but I'll certainly be following the news very closely. Thanks for all your support Ladies.

There are terrorist acts going on here and there, nothing in Lagos where he is. However, on 2st Jan the govt announced that they wre removing the subsidy on fuel, effectively doubling the price of petrol. The govt are saying that they will spend the money saved on healthcare, schooling and sorting out the power (elec) but the people generally believe the money will end up in the pockets of the allegedly corrupt govt. Nationwide strikes and protests were started on monday and there seems to be no end in sight. there have been a few people killed. DH is starting his 3rd day confined to his hotel. As he can't ge to the office and work I can't understand why his company aren't pulling him out while they still can. The FCO says that [i'>the declared aim of the strike is to close all offices, airports and seaports, banks, markets and petrol stations. [/i'> People were being advised to stock up on food, water and fuel ahead of the action. DH has heard that "they" are likely to disrupt mobile and internet services which is sending me into a frenzy. At the momnt we IM on Skype and when I see him come online I know he's ok. I just want him out of there but want to know if anyone else knows more than me and can maybe tell me I'm being melodramatic.

Does the ENJO thing just lift dust and hairs or will it clean too (ie lift footprints?) I have an old Dyson pull-along and I hate it. I find it heavy and cumbersome and although it's great on hard floors it's complete shyte on rugs, it doesn't lift dog hair at all. I bought the turbo head to go with it and that's cr@p too. I have to brush the rugs with a short haired brush (scrubbing brush with a long handle) then vacuum over the top to lift the dust. I would like a replacement to do away with that.

Thanks. There won't be much in the way of amusement but she will need to supervise 7yo getting to bed (he knows the drill) and making sure 12yo DD doesn't get up to mischief... DD was not impressed at the thought of being looked after by a friend's older sister and not a maid until she met her and seems to be completely awestruck by her :)

Taken from Emirates website: [i'>Two infants with one accompanying adult may travel if the second infant is over 12 months and is able to sit in a seat with a seat belt, or is over six months and restrained. The second infant will travel at the applicable child fare rather than the infant fare. Three infants can travel with two adults if each adult watches over an infant during take-off and landing and if either the third infant is over 12 months and is able to sit in a seat with a seat belt, or is over six months and is restrained. A child fare will apply to the third infant. [/i'> but I'm not sure if this applies to children travelling in car seats. Here's the link, you may be able to fathom it out [url=http://www.emirates.com/ae/english/help/FAQDetails.aspx?faqId=193423'>link[/url'>

Virgin seem really expensive this year. I was looking last night for my Mum who always flies Virgin and it's cheaper for her to fly KLM via AMS from a regional airport than to pay the expense of getting down to Heathrow.
