The zoo is a great day out. We also enjoyed Universal Studios on Sentosa Island. My kids are older so I'm not entirely sure what there is for littlies in Universal Studios but you can probably check on their website. We stayed at the Swissotel which was fine and attached to a mall. The Marina Bay Sands hotel looks interesting but with little kids I wouldn't bother paying the fee to go to the top. The view is great but there's not a lot to do up there. you can see the highest infinity pool in the world but you can't go in it or loiter. We did the Big Bus Tours which we enjoyed but you'd probably need to bring something to amuse the kids.

I wouldn't have thought you'd need your marriage certificate as that would have been needed to change your passport into your married name, but hopefully someone can confirm.

Can I ask what happens to your visa when you get a new passport? Do you need to get it transferred here? (&go through that painstaking experience again??!!) Want to change name on mine to married name, therefore new passport! Don't know about a name change but DS's visa is in his old passport. We have the two joined together with an elastic band and just hand over the pair.

DD and I were in Carrefour today and as we approached the checkout the 'trolley boy' in his yellow coveralls was scanning and the cashier in shirt and tie was packing. The trolley boy (don't like that term) took the cash and gave the lady her change then started on my shopping. He still had his staff ID tag with his position as trolley boy on it but was also wearing a badge saying "Staff Trainee", and was being trained by the cashier. I was so happy to see that C4 are giving their workers, even 'trolley boys' the chance to get promoted to a better paid job. It made me go :D

There was another thread that started as previous posters have said - about something that happened in McD's. The thread reached the maximum number of posts so every time a new post was added the oldest one was getting deleted meaning that some absolute corkers were being lost so it was locked and a new thread started.

Places in Greece tell you to put toilet paper in the bin. I think at my inlaws it's supposed to go in the bin and not the toilet due to their waste system (weird). Needless to day I ignore that and flush.

The Corniches is lovely. Maximum 4km each way. TBH I don't know how western style running gear would be viewed upon if you mean vest and short shorts. The Corniche is a very popular area for locals to walk throughout the day and the majority of ladies are covered, including faces so may not be delighted at the sight of lots of flesh. The UAE has light years to go... edited by que_sais_je on 27/06/2011 Come on spill the beans, what did she say and was it another poster who had her done for it or was it the government? It was discussed on here about 3 months ago I think. Someone was called to task in Abu Dhabi for posting somehting on EW :\:

Haven't used GB for a while as the guy we dealt with is no longer there (at Gold Souk branch I believe). My stepmum used them many times and was always very pleased with what she bought from them. I've had some stuff made by them and have been happy.

I have a few fakes (that I don't use) which I bought before I realised the story behind them. It was a 'fun' thing to do as a group of newbies years ago. I now no longer buy fakes.

Maybe walk around Madinat Jumeirah (if possible) and scout them out? Places where the Meat Co etc have views. The beach to the north of BAA is free, public and open.
