Thanks sandy dogg...that blog was good. I definately wont be wearing any tight clothing or swimmers around the streets or shopping malls!! I would never ever dream of doing it anywhere in the world!! Yeah, leave this one at home when you go shopping http://tinyurl.com/3swpbcf (Disclaimer: that's Abu Dhabi :D)

Malls have pictures and/or descriptions saying knees and shoulders should be covered. It's different aroud the pool, on the beach or in private compounds/developments but really, you should have kneed and shoulders covered out of respect for the local culture. I think this is probably more true for Sharjah (didn't they have Decency laws?)

Wherever you are in the UAE (or indeed the region) you should have your shoulders and knees covered in public.

I'm sad that there are injuries requiring a helicopter to transport people to hospital but I have to admit to breathing a sigh of relief that there are no serious injuries amongst the children.

Hopefully just a new member, but OMG Rum 'n' Raisin ice-cream! OhwowOhwowOhwowOhWOW!!! This was my absolute FAVOURITE flavour, and the one I used to get as a special treat for helping Dad do the Saturday morning grocery shopping so many decades ago. Sigh! Brilliant. :) How many years did THAT memory roll back? (Don't have to answer;)) edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 13/06/2011

Look at these diagrams. Generally, the higher from the cow it comes, the more tender it will be. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cuts+of+beef edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 13/06/2011

It's a machine that cuts shapes from paper or card. You insert a cartridge with preset shapes on it and can cut variations in different sizes. Sorry, can't help you out OP. I have George, Celebrations, Tags Bags Boxes and More and one other which I've forgotten.

I bet they're all the same nationality too. A few weeks ago I was waiting in the entrance to a pharmacy while my Dad got some medication. An assistant came up to me and said, "How about some skincare products Ma'am?" I just replied, "Are you insinuating I need them?" and muttered "Cheeky b!tch" to DH.

Oman Hatta. I have to go during the work week- I made a mistake with my dates. I need someone who can go through the 4 army checks with me to get to the outpost.TIA Then I assume you'll need to ensure that whoever drives you is a nationality that can get visas for UAE and Oman on arrival and not ahead of time if he/she has to exit and re-enter the UAE with you?

I had a nice cut (by the instructor who was demonstrating) but awful highlights at Formul'a. I ended up with stripes across the back of my head. My next hairdo was back at Juan's...

You'll know when you check-in with EK whether or not your luggage is checked all the way through and with 8 hours in SIN you do have time to collect and 'drop' if needs be.

Surprisingly wonderful :D It was never on my list of places to go and I wold never have chosen to go there. BIL's long-term GF is Indonesian and they both love Bali. When they decided to get married they chose Bali for obvious reasons, and also because it allowed her to have family and Indo friends present. Parents-in-law came over from Canada and we all went together. All of us (inc my 2 kids) had an absolutely fantastic time.

Get rid of those emergency smokes. You'll find an 'emergency' that requires them then will replace them in case you get another 'emergency'. You can't smoke what you don't have. And good luck! :D

Tell Emirates on check in - they should be able to check your luggage all the way through. Try and check yourself in for all flights ahead of time too. We booked through Expedia to go to Bali last year. We were booked with EK to KL and Malaysian to Bali. I wasn't able to check-in online for the Malaysian flight (technical glitch) and EK couldn't do it for us despite trying. We had only 1 hour between flights in KL and although our luggage didn't make it all the way to Bali on the same flight as us, it was checked all the way through and came on the next flight.

The past couple of days I've had shooting stomach pains and upset stomach. I blamed it on airline food but it's clearly not. I'm hoping it's just a bug but no-one else seems to be affected (yet I'd spent 4 days in a cool climate).

If everything's ok now I think I'd just draw a line under the experience and forget about it. It sounds like your DH wasn't too relaxed either if his actions were completely out of character.

Agree, if the future tenants have been in once already then that should be sufficient. It's probably got nothing to do with you and more to do with them having everything ready to go (or to hit the LL with) asap. All the same, it's up to you who you allow in your home.

Sorry, but I laughed at the hypocritical part, but..... it's his conscience. I'd say don't eat or drink around him when he's fasting but do what you want out of his sight. If abstaining for the month of Ramadan is important to him then I'd say try to honour his wishes. Good luck ;)
