...Doha *hopes this doesn't get moved*. DH is talking to friends moving to Doha. I've heard mixed reports about how easy is it to buy booze whilst living over there. Are many bars/restaurants licensed to sell it? Are there outlets like A&E/MMI over there? TIA

There's a traffic police department there but not sure about regular police. If it's a vehicle accident then I reckon you could.

Yes, I have a drink. I have children so I can't get drunk but I don't mind having the odd glass.

Oh yes, it was you who recommended them initially, wasn't it? My ceiling fans and garden pots thread :) We bought 5 fans, 3 with the light kits. Joan, one of the owners gave me lots of info and advice prior to buying (which we did through Huda lighting). We had what we thought was a problem with one and when I called her she told me what the problem was straight away (wiring issue). Can't recommend the company and their products highly enough :)

We didn't. We had to have the 30cm rods to compensate for the higher ceilings but the fans we bought kind of 'float' in the cradle attaches to the ceiling. We bought alternative sets of blades too, to match the wood in the house so the fans look like they belong.

A plain white one was 750, the more ornate ones were just under 1200 each. These are last year's prices so may have changed. Lights and extension rods are extra. As CP says, they are a good quality brand and very quiet.

We got ours from here: http://www.theceilingfancompany.com/index2.htm They're based in Al Quoz but didn't have a showroom. Some of their fans can be seen at Huda Lighting in Um Sequiem road near Max Garage. Huda lighting also have catalogues so you can see the full range. The company itself is run by an expat couple who really know their stuff.

if your write full sentences will take from you double the time... do it in a fast way and keep the proper writing for formal time.... even now in Arabic they have the chat script and they have the Arabic letters converted to English any way if Shakespeare saw these days proper English he will drop dead. I disagree. It takes me longer to think of the short way to write something than it does to just type it properly. How the h*ll are kids supposed to learn to spell when they're surrounded by poor writing and misspelled words?

I can't read it properly. You know (U no?) when kids are learning to read and they just. read. every. word. individually, it doesn't flow? That's how it sounds when I try to read text/ghetto/cr.p speak. I guess it's because my eyes can't sweep over the words and read them like I would proper text, but hav 2 :) stop and almost translate what's written.

E450 somethingorother. I've had everything out of it this morning and there's no drain in there. There's a plastic shelf that sits underneath the shelf on top of the veg drawer. It's supposed to channel condensation away to the back where it should evaporate. It seems mine is collecting far too much water to evaporate.

Thanks for the info. We have another good sized fridge we can use if they need to take this one away. I've called them and they should call me back after the weekend. It's getting worse, I mopped it out this morning and there's already another puddle in there grrr!

@ jag and Dollymud, I'm not sure if there's anything I can adjust, there are no sliders around the bottom drawer. I hope it's not faulty :( I thought I would ask on here before I call customer service. I'm not sure if I should call them in NZ or risk a "No problem ma'am" from customer service here.

And if so, are you constantly having to mop water out of the bottom? The instructions say a little water is normal and it can be stopped by making sure all fruits & veg are wrapped or sealed. I've done that but am having to mop the darned thing out every couple of days otherwise it leaks out on to the floor.

Thanks RAS, it's a whistle-stop tour so I don't think I\ll have a lot of time to relax on the beach. If you're thinking of a spray-tan start a new thread with 'spray tan' in the title and someone might see it and be able to help. Enjoy your trip x

My thighs are too fat for short shorts. I find that wearing something on my feet - even flipflops reduces the stumpiness of my legs. I'm off in two weeks :) (*and also feels slightly sick*)

You're my twin :) What about looser shorts? I wear shorts which are like men's swimming shorts but in a feminine patten. They come ot about mid-thigh. If you're going down the fake tan route would a spray-tan be the easiest? When are you going?

I'm going to Brazil soon too, but they'll have to take me stretch marks and all :) If your stretch marks are on your bum and the top of your thighs would lycra swim shorts cover them?

I guess she sees you as someone stronger than she which she maybe doesn't like. It sounds like she sees the new SIL as maybe not as strong and someone she can manipulate/control/walk over. There is a compliment up there ^^, honestly :) No help, I'm sorry, but I am a little cross at your DH for not putting his sister in her place where you're concerned.

Agreed, but some airlines - although flying with older, less well-equipped aircraft - can deliver consistently good service. EK falls into the hit-and-miss category, with quite a bit of 'miss'. I fly them because they have a huge number of routes, good flight times, and a good entertainment system. I don't fly them because of their service. And yeah, Air Canada. Hmmmm... Coming back with them last year our section had no entertainment and no lights. When someone complained the steward said, "But we do have wings, fuel and alcohol" :)

Whistles with a Chanel bag!! And to think I thought Chanel was a luxury brand... You have obviously never travelled business or 1st on their aircraft, particularly the 380. No? Sorry, but there is better out there. The aircraft are great. The service, not so much....

Phew, thank goodness you said that, SM, I was beginning to wonder if I'd wandered into a time-warp, what with that Burt Bacharach song n all. I prefer another song which begins: Hey little girl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKDYyFf1s0I or, my favourite, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrpXArn3hII I knew one would be Brucie (a song I love) but I'm so glad you posted the link to the Icehouse song - it's one I loved but never knew what it was called or who sung it :)
