I try not to. I don't like an atmosphere so I prefer to try and straighten things out and get back to normal.

I gave up flying with EK years ago. Cramped economy seats, surly bored crew and bumpy bumpy flights to Europe all the time. Last year by a fluke went BA and now a total convert, in spite of the strike threat. Comfy flight, cabin crew were not glam but at least you got the impression they were competent, and a [b'>smooth turbulence free flight[/b'>. I don't just look at cost, value for money is more important. You really think TURBULANCE has anything to do with the company you fly with??!!! Easier to get the trolleys up and down the aisles when everyone's confined to their seats. Cabin crews have NO control on seatbelt signs. Pilots do. And if they leave seatbelts sign on, it's because there's turbulance or they expect some. Simple as that. So you've never been C Crew then :cool: I thank EK for being so safety conscious, keeping the seatbelt lights on for hours and hours without even a bump. :)

Oh yeah, that's right - it does! Were you served it at school? Yeah, that and slimey spinach - blurgh! I can show my age by saying we would get battered spam. It could be smelled when they started cooking it around 10am and lingered throughout the school all day *bleurgh*

Flying, flying oh and flying. Haven't even opened the thread entitled bumpy ride in case it is about scary flights. Have only flown twice in last 13 years due to my fear and the last time was non stop turbulence with the most awful landing. I really thought I was about to die. I am terrified about having to fly again, definately the worst part of our relocation. I haver even looked in to the possibility of a cruise Uk to Dubai, but this time of year they're all coming the other way :(. My other phobia is lifts, would rather walk up 20 flights of stairs than get in a lift. Rubberduck, I did a course to help deal with fear of flying a few years ago. I have the info booklet which I have scanned. If you think it might help you send me an email on sanddy . dogg @ gmail . com and I will send it to you by return.

As per the flying thread I would gladly never fly again :) I also hate heights and am scared of rollercoasters. Not scared of spiders, wasps or snakes though (well maybe poisonous ones.)

The Cove is about 15 mins drive from the city Hilton and maybe 20 mins drive from the beach resort Hilton. There are restaurants in the Cove. I've eaten in Cinnamon which was ok. I've heard that Basilico is pretty good too. Failing that, there's a fuel station within walking distance if you fancy a sandwich :)

Never seen those to be honest. My friend made herself a Queen of Hearts dress and tiara using 9 decks of playing cards - looked absolutely fantastic! I spent DAYS making a Red Queen costumes a few months ago for DD's school play. There were costumes on ebay (some not [i'>quite[/i'> appropriate for a school play).

I like 4 engines rather than 2 - although this is offset by my preference for Boeing over Airbus. I prefer Middle Eastern and Far Eastern airlines. I do not like flying over water. When we fly a new route I look on my kid's globe to see how far we'll fly over water on a sphere rather than a flat computer screen. I know, barking.....

I'm lucky that the kids won't be with us for the flight (but leaving them behind is a whole other source of stress lol!) but yes, I would love to fall asleep on take off, wake up for dinner, go straight back to sleep and then wake up as we land.

I'm not bothered whether my pilot is male or female. They all have the same training and have to pass the same tests. Miss BM, a friend of mine who used to live in the UAE was prescribed Xanax for flying while she was here.

Oh god. Poor you. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! (that sounds like a long one??!) Yup. 14,5 hours with shorter flights either side. We had the option of going with Air France but there was not a hope in h*ll of me flying the same AF flight over the crash site on the 2nd anniversary. I'm the one on the verge of passing out with fear during turbulence (but the actual passing out seems to elude me) wondering how on earth others can continue reading/watching tv/sleeping.

Luck of the draw. I had very bumpy flights all the way back from Oz with Singapore Airlines, bumpy flights with EK to KL, then last month a relatively smooth flight to and from SIN with EK. It seems that they bump a bit as they fly over the coast (either way) and ALWAYS over Germany :) I hate it too ;)

You can park just off the road, it's safe enough there. Some noodle will usually try and go further than they should in a regular car and get stuck - just gives you something else to look at.

Yep. Head towards Oman/Hatta on the E44. You can't miss it on your left. If you go on a Friday afternoon it's crazy and full of cars, quads and buggies.You can park at the bottom and just watch the mayhem. It'll take 45 mins to an hour from the Marina.
