You're right, you're right, I just can't get past thinking, "Supposing something happens to one of them and I'm not here?" They've survived this long IN my care so I guess they must be fairly resilient.

Someone posted on here a few days ago about spilling red wine on a leather handbag. A place in Magrudy's mall was recommended as they restore and repair handbags. Hopefully someone will post with the name, or do a search on 'handbag'.

If you had a the chance of visiting somewhere you've wanted to go at little cost but would have to leave the kids behind, would you do it? It would be for about a week, my Dad would come out to look after the kids BUT....I would be about 24 hours travel time from home. I'm feeling sick at the thought of being so far away from the kids despite friends telling me to go for it and they'll be fine. Thoughts?

The hotel is in the industrial area and is rumoured to have a few extras on room service lol! If it's just somewhere to sleep then it's a good deal - adult admission to the water park is AED 150 each alone.

Unfortunately it seems that the beginning of this thread is missing. I'm assuming that there is a maximum of 10 pages and the 20th (oldest) gets discarded. It's a shame because I wanted to go back and see what started this thread.

Oh, ok I didn't know that. She was live-in with me but her latest employers are in AD. Her daughter and son-in-law also live in AD so she was living with them. Did she say if she wanted to stay in AD or why she wanted live out?

Thing is cars are usually clean, it's just with this cr8ppy weather we've had the last week or so, they've got a bit dusty. Have mentioned it to security now, who noted it down in his book, [b'>and is going to keep an eye out[/b'>. Or stop writing messages on your car LOL!

Will give it a look - thanks. I will ask if she has access to the internet. She hasn't worked for me for a year so I can't really fill it in without her input. If she can't do it I'll do it with her on the phone.

It won't show you how much credit remains. If the phone isn't registered to you select "4 A Friend" from the left hand side, enter the mobile number and follow instructions. If the phone is registered to you, Select "Services....Recharge Existing Wasel" from further down on the left hand side. Click next to the number you want to top up and follow instructions.

Probably evening. She doesn't work for me any more so I don't know her movements but when she was with me she would leave her phone in her room while she was working. If you can't get her when you call send her an sms saying you are calling about her recommendation on EW. She should get back to you. You can also email me on lazylakite @ yahoo . co uk and I can send her an sms so she'll know that your call is related to my post.

See my earlier thread on 'Great Maid'. She won't do a runner :)

The price can depend on country of origin for the battery. My car takes a Panasonic and the one I bought from Satwa was made in Thailand and only lasted a year. Since then I've bought mine from the main dealer and have been given the choice between Thai and Japanese Panasonics. The Japanese ones have all lasted over two years. They're more expensive but not double the price so a better deal in the long run.

Not heard of anyone renting carseats at airport, I would bring my own just in case. If she's a British passport holder with right of abode in UK etc then she gets her visa on arrival. Never taken very young kids on the metro but there are posters on here who take LO's with strollers. There's the Gold Souk in Deira, or closer by there's the Gold & diamond Park near Mall of the Emirates.

When the dealers quoted me AED 3700 (for tyres that I got elsewhere for AED 2300) I gasped. Even the guy at the dealer giving me the quote looked at me and said "It's too much, isn't it?" lol!

Not necessarily. I can't speak for everywhere but the places I tried gave similar prices for tyres that are still wrapped and are places that I've seen receive deliveries from proper distributors. I keep all my receipts and I checked back for tyres I bought a few years ago in Dubai from Technical Resources who have several branches in Dubai and are a reputable company. The prices I was getting quoted recently were a bit higher than I paid a few years ago. In my case it was just the main dealer loading the price.

Yes, as CP says, as long as each individual item/cream etc isn't more than 100ml each. You can carry up to 1000ml total as long as no one item exceeds 100ml. Leaving Dubai recently we didn't even have to remove liquids from carry-on bags although I imagine you will in London.

The place is called Hassan Darwish tel 07 244 7399 or fax 07 233 2358. My tyres are all 2010, the oldest being mid-year. They are all new, they still had all the bits sticking out the side from the mould. I tried another independent shop in RAK when I was changing mine a month or so ago and the price was similar. Both places have many tyres still wrapped up from the manufacturer. I really don't know about them accepting someone else's card. I paid cash for mine. You will get a proper receipt though. (I will assume you or the person bringing your car is not familiar with RAK :)) Drive the the 'end' of Emirates Road where you come to a roundabout where you can only turn right (into RAK city) or left to head back south down the coast road. There is a huge RAK Freezone sign behind the roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout and take the second U-turn. About 150m after the u-turn you will see Hassan Darwish on your right as a yellow building on the far end of a strip of 5 or 6 units.

Is he the reason you've handed in your notice? As you haven't got a job in place for when you leave? Sorry if you've mentioned this before, I've missed it. He sounds a good reason to want to leave. I'm longing to ask what nationality he is, but that's probably racist - [b'>merchant bankers[/b'> are the same the world over, nationality is no bar :( *childish snigger*

Shippers won't pack and move alcohol but I'm not sure how it stands on bringing it in your own suitcase. I guess the worst they will do is confiscate it (I hope that's the worst, anyway!). I've brought booze in my checked luggage before.

Would they be allowed to fly with them as hand baggage? Wouldn't it exceed the carry-on liquids allowance?
