My partner has been placed here for accommodation and really likes it. As a single person the apartments are more than adequate however the area is under development. I would imagine if this is your first time out there, you are single and male it's fine but he did express how the location could be a little intimidating for women. This is not to say you are unsafe at all! If you are used to a very high standard complex, living amongst families then the apartments won't be to your standard. If you are moving country you would have done your research and know what to expect in terms of electrics and plumbing...not the best but he has told me that they have been more than accommodating at Sidra....the apartments are cleaned weekly including dishes and bedding and towels. There have been requests for those with children to move because they are high rise apartments converted from a hotel and not much of a social life for them. Please do not be put off because people have asked to be moved...they are the ones that have been in much better standard accommodation because of their grade and those with families which is totally understandable

Hi all... I have accepted a position as a nursery teacher in a nursery school (not a state school)and have accommodation, transport, utilities and medical paid for. My basic salary will be 10,000qar monthly and I wondered if I would be able to survive on this and also save at the same time? It may seem a silly question consiering I may only have food and leisure to pay for but I want to be sure...anyone have this salary and able to get by?

Thank you for that! I'm coming from London and from advice will probably stock up on some good sun tan lotion/make up and loose fitting quality clothing!

Hi everyone! So I'm making the move to doha in August and although excited very confused.....I'm sure you have heard all this before so won't bore you with my anxieties...however I do have a couple of queries..... I'm moving out on my own with my own sponsorship and accommodation etc and my boyfriend is moving out on his. Is it possible to still meet and socialise together e.g. Meet for dinner, go for a walk around the mall? It might sound silly but we have heard lots of different things. Of course we are respectful of law and not looking to break it through ignorance. We know not to show PDA,s etc we just want to know if we can still at least meet and do the above? The other question is what is are the most important things I should pack as an expat woman...what will I miss? I'm pretty used to a basic suitcase but would still like to know if there is anything I should bring with me as necessity Kind and supportive comments only please, I don't want miserable off putting comments ;)
