Most seems to been getting the app this year. I have one book and the HSBC app and to be honest, probably mostly been using the app, but I heard that the Entertainer removed some vouchers that were on the original list it doesn't feel right, at least with the book you will have the outlet the whole year.

Snow park in Ski Dubai and she could see the snow penguins as well. The underwater zoo and aquarium in Dubai Mall. Kidzania in Dubai Mall. Aquaventure. Wild Wadi. The beach at JBR got a kids splash area. Little Explorer at Mirdif CC. The children's city in Creek Park. The fountain show.

Never, not even offers like Clarins, Clinique, Lancome etc can have. Spend x amount and get sample sizes free. Airports might be slightly cheaper.

Is there an owner committee in the building? Even if you are not an owner you should be able to bring it up with them. The parents definitely seems to be the problem. It's only so much a lifeguard is aloud to do. He can't be responsible for every unruly child.

I think Alexias information is really good, I have friends who have done similar calculations and the number is very close to that. I would also like to add that you obviously pay a month salary while she's on holiday and might need an agency replacement that month. Other costs; furniture for her room and maybe package with TV channels from her home country, set of clothes or uniform for work. There are agencies that provide full time maids for approximately 4,500 dhs a month. If you don't drive, try to live close to public transport or in an area with a community centre, so you don't need to leave daily. Taxis are cheap compared to Europe, but will add up if you use them everyday for longer distances.

He didn't do a very good job at negotiating. The housing allowance only works out to just under 360,000, which is nice but not terribly impressive by Dubai standards. Someone making 183,000 AED a month should have demanded at least twice that much.;) I guess will renegotiate when the landlord wants to raise or he lives in a studio in International City and demands the difference

Your package is ok for a family of four, I think you will have to be savvy though, for example daily cleaning or a live in maid can really add up. Two cheaper cars and not one of the top fee schools for the children. Mudon is probably a good area to look at. You have a Gems school nearby and Safa Community school nearby with decent fees. Thank you Silvstet Which gems school is near to Mudon ? Gems Metropole.

You need to embrace the lifestyle here. If your husband is a 777 pilot there is a lot of flying as they will be both long haul and short haul..not a lot of days off. 380 is a little better. Things are not as they used to be, hence a lot of disgruntled people. Management is the big issue ATM. Dubai is getting more expensive and schooling is a huge concern. people are heading back home even to pay tax ! I know 3 pilot families that been heading back home after not being happy here, now they are all back! Quite embarrassing for them as they were moaning about most things living over here...

I think a lot of women over here are expected to get a certain number of children to please their husbands ego rather than actually wanting children. And they get raised by nannies and nursery teachers.

You will get good education in profit schools too, I actually don't believe some of the non profit schools aren't for profit...The fees and facilities offered, many times are about the same as the for profit schools. GEMS leaves a sour taste in my mouth, but there are other not so obviously greedy for profit schools out there.

Hi i changed to Dubai Housekeeping a while ago and they have been great, i would definitely recommend them. Please rate and terms and conditions. A friend told me they were a bit ridiculous with cancellations, 2 weeks in advance? I am looking for a new agency, as mine is going downhill since my regular left. Maid leaving 30 min early and the list goes on...

[b'>We have been told already by JAPS that she won't be assessed there as they already have a large waiting list and siblings. We registered her in Nov 2013![/b'> I hope you didn't have to leave a deposit or pay a registration fee. That would simply be ridiculous if you did. JAPS has always been popular with waiting list, years ago I wanted to register and had my registration fee in hand and asked what are the chances of us getting a place and the registra for the day said , almost none and then I asked, so why do you let me register and he told me straight out -To make money!!!! Well I didn't hand him the money.

Which area are you working in? There are lots of studios in Discovery Gardens for just below 50 k a year. Your salary seems fine, but people in Dubai probably spend a higher percentage of their salaries on living than most other places.

There are plenty of pavement to walk or bicycle on, a few parks, good sized community centre with medical centre, a school. I doubt everything will come into place that was promised, I am afraid that's a Dubai thing, that the marketing plan, just doesn't have to be followed....

I feel for you; Al Nahda isn't exactly an expat area and I guess it's difficult to settle. Try to rent a room somewhere like JLT or Tecom that is close to a metro station and not far from the beach. You can find or advertise flat share on Dubizzle or Facebook groups, maybe propertyfinder as well. What are you trying to infer here? Al Nahda is made up of mainly expats.... Ok maybe the wordings weren't right, as 90 % of the population here are expats, but some people here actually try to help instead of jumping on threads nit picking words ....I just don't think it's a desirable location for a single female relying on public transport and struggling to find things to do. Your last sentence is a better descriptive. I thought that you may be trying to infer something else.... I honestly have no idea what you are talking about, but glad my post is being understood ?

I am surprised so many tell you that you need a car. There is a bus stop not far from Al Reem, occasional taxi somewhere outside the Ranches or to Motorcity will still work out cheaper than buying a second car. In the cooler months, many use their bikes to the mall and even the golf club. There are supermarkets that deliver groceries as well. Very nice outdoor areas for children in Al Reem.

i'm in silicon oasis and priya at Sheba Beauty Lounge (and ONLY priya) is fabulous. i don't know what its called but shes uses the wax that doesn't require the strips- she just applies it, it hardens to a putty-like consistency and then she yanks it off fasts. it is SO effective and hurts very minimally (cuz let's be real, waxing is PAINFUL). I will only use that kind of wax for bikini, Sisters is good, they have salons in Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall, Mirdif CC and Jumeirah.

Yesterday itself I saw a mid-aged house maid cleaning a car. It doesn't feel right and, like you said, is heart breaking. I guess the best that people can do is to treat them with all the respect and give them the recognition that they deserve. take care xxx I am happy seeing mid aged and older maids working here, as unfortunately many send them back when they get a bit older. My neighbour have had their maid for 15 years, now when the kids has moved she is still with them, never seen her clean a car, but surely it's not so bad letting your maid clean the car sometimes if there isn't much else to do.

A friend of mine went and left this review on FB. Well, that was disappointing... Tried the new theatre by rhodes, where you get supposedly restaurant quality food while watching the movie in comfy big seats: some controls on my seat weren't working, the bruschettas were and tasted really greasy (how is that even possible with bruschetta), the avocado dip was disgusting, some green lights kept on blinking on the side of the theatre and then you had the people serving the food blocking the view numerous times.... #FAIL #wasteofmoney #wontbeback Greasy brushetta, might be the olive oil....

When will my rent drop then? If people aren't buying, would mean more are renting, so can't really see a huge drop in rent. Wrong. It's all about supply and demand. And a huge supply is being added to the market now. The prices will only go 1 direction from this moment. I hope you are right, as I am renting, but the conditions for buying in Dubai today, kind of makes it impossible for regular people to get into the market, therefore I think the landlords can play around quite a bit.

It's NOT compulsory. If your kids had it before, you can just sign a form and show the vaccination record. It's a good initiative from the government to make sure every child got such an important vaccine.

Thanks very much for the replies and some good ideas. Not heard of Chef's House and about to Google/Trip Adviser in for reviews. :) Be careful with Chef's House, we went a few years ago and the chicken was raw, haven't been since, but it is cheap and cheerful and hopefully has improved. I have been once and the food was poor to average. Only thing I liked was that you could choose between two red wines and two white wines.

I would not register my child in a school that hasn't delivered the facilities promised and is charging for it. If you are looking on the higher end of fees and hopefully a school that will deliver, I would look at North Anglia and DBS Jumeirah Park, both should offer excellent education and fantastic facilities.

Victoria you seem lovely towards your maid, I am sure others help if they can or maybe even pay to have it sorted somewhere cheap or they just point the maid in the right direction and let her sort it out. It's up to you, what you feel its the right thing to do. There is great IT support at Sharaf DG Times square mall, but not sure if it would be too much.

We lived in Jumeirah Park before moving to the Springs and I'd much rather live in this 12-year old house than the one there! So they are looking a little tired but the landscaping is very well established and Emaar maintain the neighbourhoods beautifully, I don't think JP will ever be finished or pong-free! Yes you do pay extra for an Emaar development, they have a good reputation of maintaining the communities, but buyers today seems to look for the most sqft for the least money and then they complain that the community isn't good, nothing against Jumeirah Park, as it's still a young community and you can see that it is continuously developing, but it will never have the communal facilities like the Springs, but it was never in their masterplan either.
