Where did any of these ladies say they [b'>weren't[/b'> going home to deliver? Life is not as black and white as you choose to see it, AB, there are nuances. Some things are black and white. And as shown in the press this week, it's not all about getting home for the delivery - if things go wrong before hand; you are in major trouble. How frequently does that happen, statistically?

True JackieD, most new policies have a waiting period which won't cover maternity care until after the event. Yes, in an ideal world everyone would have/afford health insurance to cover every eventuality, only get pregnant when said waiting period is over etc etc - but this is not the reality. And yes we should all be aware of how badly things can go wrong BUT I think informing a person and ramming one's opinion down anothers throat in a rude manner are two very different things. I just hope this hasn't put the previous posters off asking for any other advice should they need it. edited by Amalfi on 05/04/2012 And not having insurance and expecting the government, the hospital and the general public to pay you bills is also damn right rude Oh, yes, it's definitely PI in another form. ;) Honestly, you're being completely unreasonable about this, can't you understand that circumstances alter cases? You've never been in this position yourself, have you? So please don't judge others who have not put themselves in this position deliberately.

the sad thing about this is I imagine the show will try and break up the duo and just go ahead with Johnathon. She's helped bring him to this turning point in his life, perhaps he's meant to let go of her hands and her to let him continue on.... maybe :( feeling terribly emotional today lol Is it your mum's op already, NiP? Thank you for that pointer, I would not have known about them if it weren't for you. I'm crying too, but like you, there's other stuff going on which is making me emotional. He has the stature of an opera-singer, doesn't he? I think their singing teacher was right to put them together as Charlotte obviously gave Jonathan the confidence to perform, but I do think he completely outclassed her, poor girl :)

I was thinking about this thread this morning as I fought to get on to SZR from the sliproad and then fought again to get off on to an interchange.. Much scarier than driving on the SZR itself..

They didn't plan it this way, they had planned to go home as they knew they were in financial trouble and couldn't afford medical costs here. I think they were trying to do the responsible thing but were very unlucky. I'm glad it seems that the hospital might waive at least some, if not all, of their costs.

I think it's a wind-up. Friend who's on twitter just told me there is a twitter account (v funny) not sur eif it's her, taking the p!ss, or someone pretending to be her.... "La Brick" or something... It's definitely someone pretending to be her, she hasn't got that good a sense of humour about herself :)

I can only tell you our experience in Switzerland, which is that because w have officially been declared non-resident in Switzerland, the salary paid into our Swiss account is not liable for tax. We have to pay taxes on income from our property there, but not on salary as we are not resident. Whether the same applies in the UK, I have no idea.

....has anybody seen Brabantia dustbin bags - The green dot size 23 - 30l. I have searched for over 3 months now. They are clearly still selling dustbins of this size, just cannot find the bags :( You and me both. Might have to order loads direct from Holland. Anyone want to go in with me? Should work with delivery to Shop&Ship, it's just I expect the delivery to here might be quite expensive as they send them out in large boxes.

Apparently, they had to close because the lease expired last month and they couldn't afford the requested rise in rent :( So it will sit empty for six months - with the LL getting no rent at all! I seriously do not understand the logic of these people. I'd say six months at the very least. Has anything replaced the Areej shop which shut down at least a year ago?

The Copper Chimney Restaurant hasn't renewed its lease nor found a new location :( Oh no!!!! I was so looking forward too having dinner there once baby was out and heartburn gone... Any idea what will come there instead? No idea, I'm afraid. They had to leave when their lease expired and they couldn't afford the rise in rent.

I realized this morning when driving my large car from a slip road onto the SZR that since moving to Dubai, I spend more of my time looking in my wing and rear view mirrors than through the windscreen in front of me. A bit worrying and quite a change from Geneva..

Hi Simpleasabc - it's in the Family one, the voucher is for Al Muna but you can also book the table in The Wharf which is where the kids' area is (one brunch, two restaurants). Wonders if it's worth buying the Family Entertainer when have no small kids..

Thank you ladies :) we opted for Al Muna, reserved it just a couple of hours in advance and had a great time - great food, nice kids' corner and they do accept entertainer vouchers for brunch so it was also a bargain. Highly recommended! Glad you enjoyed it - for my future reference, please, which Entertainer book were the vouchers in?

Check ebookers for flights. Also, Virgin Atlantic have good prices depending on your dates. If you can be reasonably flexible on your dates, the prices are a lot better. Hope your DS feels better soon.

Have you got reservations at all of them? Al Muna, which I like, tends to be v booked up in advance, unless things have changed since I last went there. The EW's take on brunches at the Atlantis seems to be that they are free-for-alls (do a search for Kaleidescope, maybe it's good for families?) and I don't know anything about Waves. Have a lovely time:)

Licorice, that's lovely, congratulations :) I was 33 when I made the same decision as you did at 40 and lo and behold, along came "Mr That's as Right as it's Ever Going to Get so don't miss the bus" and we're still together and happy 22 years later. (The love of my life had been and gone many years before. My husband is my life companion and much the better for it, if that makes sense.)

I have found that they don't seem to use IB text books much here and have been looking at the IB store for Diploma level. Have you tried the IB website? I think you can download past papers for some subjects, not sure at which levels, though. Maybe of some help to you? http://store.ibo.org/

Cymraes, well done for getting through it without blowing up at them and throwing someone out. I hope your son's mystery illness is diagnosed and you both feel better soon. Treat yourself to a massage or a mani pedi or something to pamper yourself and pick up your spiritis. Many is the time I've ranted similarly about my own mother and I empathize. Recently, I've had to go home a couple of times to rescue her from horrible hospital wards and I can't tell you how much I'd give to have her sitting in my house expecting to be waited on hand and foot and contributing nothing at all - although I no doubt would still moan about her long and large..

OK, actually had a look at the barbecue and it is labelled: "Sunshine General Industries, 101 Sheffield Rod, Welshpool, Western Australia." There used to be an Australian website, which we consulted when we bought our barbecue, but they seem to have stopped trading in Australia, but apparently are still selling in the UK. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have the parts we need for ours, it must be too old (Legend 3EU).

JayBee, if you do go out to Bab Al Shams, I'm sure they would let you have a look at a room to get an idea of what you'd be paying for, because it is horrendously expensive - we only ever go there when we get a special deal. (Thank you to the lady who pointed out the ebookers two for the price of one deal in November, we're using it for my birthday treat next week!) Excellent deals during Ramadan, as well.
