Classic for us, lemon and sugar. After a savoury pancake or two, of course! Did you hear Catboy and Geordiebird this morning? Cook pancake till one side crisp, turn over and put a choc ice on it and leave the other side to cook and the choc ice to melt. Yummy :)

Does anyone know the number of the exit off SZR for Al Manara Street (Road?), please? All the maps show it as Interchange 3, but when you're on the road itself, I think the sign gives it as an exit number, nothing to do with the Interchange number. TIA.

I would think the restaurants of the not too casual type you want are more on the Souk Al Bahar side of the fountains. I like the Meat Co myself, but you have to move around to get good views of the fountains, in our experience. Apparently Margaux is also a nice restaurant with good views, though I've never been. rightmove.com will be able to give you an idea of rents in different parts of the country. if i was going to buy-to-let then i'd do it in london or a university town i think. although, having students in your property isn't ideal for keeping it in lovely shape. [b'>rents in london are really high at the moment, i have friends in a one bed, one reception first floor flat in clapham and they are paying about £1600 pcm, freinds in a larger flay in highbury paying closer to £1800 pcm. both unfurnished.[/b'> obviously the rental market does fluctuate though. also, renting through an agent they take their fees from that so if you rented it at £600pcm you'd probably be paying them 5%-10% depending on the agent. At half that amount, I'm obviously undercharging for my one bed, one reception first floor flat in Clapham.. Plus, the managing agent takes 12 percent in fees a month, plus a month's rent every time they renew the contract..

Hi, Hanan! I appreciate you are in love with Dubai, (so am I) but please, I beg you, don't consider moving here without at least one definite job in place, with contract signed, employment visa in place, and housing and schooling arranged. I'm not even sure if you would be able to pack up your lives and land up here without any sign of a job - it would mean you would be here on a 30 day tourist visa which is no longer so easily renewable and staying in a hotel or apartment suite whilst looking for employment. Not really possible, logistically, I would think, though maybe older Dubai hands than I would know better. I think you're right to be scared and would suggest you just keep trying. Are you both still employed in Paris? If so, keep on looking in Dubai and don't hand in your notice until you have something absolutely definitely confirmed here. I've heard tales of people finding out after the signature of the contract and before getting on the plane that the job they thought they were getting was no longer available, so be very, very, careful. Cushion, I should imagine there is bullying in various degrees at the majority of schools here, as it is an unfortunate fact of life, it seems. What is important is the way the school concerned addresses it, whatever their reputation. There should be an anti-bullying policy in place and the school should be prepared to implement it, otherwise look at what happens, even in the "best" schools.

Really ?? Must ask my teen then...i haven't heard anything but as someone said below, the parents will be the last to hear..... I had asked mine if there was bullying in her own school and she, like me, gets the impression there's not much there and if there were, if would be dealt with immediately. I told her about the schools being mentioned here and she immediately said Jess was well known for it.. You'd think by the time they reached 15 they'd have grown out of it, though. No, maybe not, thinking about the late teen/adult cyber bullying which apparently happens. Good grief, people are nasty.

What a horrible situation. I remember you wrote about it last year. Is she the only one these louts are picking on? Do you know why they're picking on her? She's going to have to stay to the end of the academic year now, anyway, unless you decide to home school her for the moment. If you are able to find a place for her for Y10 in September in another school that you know has a different policy on bullying, I would change her. There is a huge moving population here in Dubai and children are used to people coming and going. She will be able to keep up with her friends from her old school anyway, and hopefully make new friends and not be bullied in the new school. In the meantime, you could still keep trying to stop the bullying and definitely ask to speak to Head of Year, if not Head of School, as nothing effective has been done by the school in the past two years. In my experience, the food on Turkish airlines is much better than that on Lufthansa. The last time I travelled Lufthansa (granted, breakfast on a short-ish flight, GVA to Hamburg , I think), we were given a stale bread roll and a piece of plastic cheese.

Beebers, there are left luggage lockers in Istanbul airport and you can take a half day or day tours from the airport to Istanbul to see the sights, though I don't know how much the tours cost.. Otherwise, you can take the metro or a cab into the city and be your own tour guide. Beautiful city.

Gorobattie, I believe it's true that in some cases, ovarian cysts disappear by themselves, or stay benign and don't grow, so maybe that's what your doctor thought would happen with you. Have you checked recently whether it's grown or not? You never know, you might be one of the lucky ladies! I would trust Dr Jennifer to tell it to you straight, and not operate for the sake of it. Al Quwatain, hope it all works out.

When I'm singing the praises of S&S on here in future, I'll try to remember to say that I think it's only worth using for quite light packages and that you need to contact S&S to find out delivery costs for larger items. Also, aren't items over a certain value liable for Customs Duty as well as delivery fees?

KKC, shortly after I became reconciled to living on my own and having no children, along came the man who is now my husband, out of the blue. We were lucky to be blessed with one child, we'd have loved more but it wasn't to be. You'll be fine, with that attitude :)

Shop and Ship give you post office box addresses in the US, the UK and China if you want. You buy stuff on line, get stuff sent to which ever Aramex address is convenient and then Aramex delivers it to your door. If you can use your UAE cc to pay online, you're all right. I am also using S&S to have important documents sent to me at home as it is much safer and surer when Aramex are delvering to your door than using the post and PO Box no here, we find. http://www.shopandship.com/default.aspx

Slaon - I don't want to appear judgemental but I really think that he should be doing his own research not you. I understand where you're coming from but I really believe that at this age if they're not interested enough to research about their future themselves, we would be doing more harm than good if we help them out. Noooo, my mum helped me to navigate the crazy world of universities and I'm really grateful. It's a huge commitment and I think that is when kids need their parents the most. It didn't do me any harm and I managed to sort out my own graduate degree after university! It's our money we'll be spending on the children's further education, as well. Of course parents should help, particularly when we are thousands of miles away from our country of origin and/or the place where the children want to study. It's a minefield even when you're living and studying in the country where you want to go to university, so much worse at this distance. Although our daughter's school has an adviser on making these kind of decisions, I believe. Can't your son's school advise you at all, Slaon? Thanks simple. I am hoping for laparascopic. Am booked in, but just fishing around. No time really, it seems to have become a rather urgent matter....larger than previously thought, and twisting.....maybe only a day or two to decide. Dr Jennifer would have done a laparascopy but the cyst was so large (it had been undiagnosed for two or three years) that she had to cut, left a scar below the bikini line, joke now that dorter has to give up her dream of posing for page 3 photos.. Ladies, my daughter had a massive twisted ovarian cyst and her Fallopian tube removed in emergency surgery by Dr Jennifer Kasirsky, an American Specialist Obstetrician & Gynecologist at the Welcare Hospital. all stickers on cars are illegal have you not been told when registering your car each year. people put child on board stickers or the family stick men stickers or anything like that and you will be fined by the police if you do not remove them, its the same as having the wrong tint on your windows. what makes me laugh though is that people leave the delivery notes of the cars in the window to show they have a new car.... why they dont get a fine for this.. I still see many cars on the roads with their rear windscreens completely blocked out by pictures for the 40th Anniversary. Yes, but they would have been 'blacked' out windows anyway. From the inside the view outside is perfectly clear. Oh, dear, how stupid I am :( Now I understand. Thank you.

As you're going to Cannes one day, why don't you take the coast road from Nice and have a look at Antibes on your way? It's a very pretty town and lovely little beaches near there as well, great covered market and the Picasso Museum. The end of April/early May is a great time to go, if the weather doesn't go peculiar, that is :)
