We like seafood, so enjoy the Aquarium at Dubai Creek Yacht and Golf Club - they take Entertainer Fine Dining vouchers, it's really a must buy, as Basil says.

Interesting point, HAK. Supposing OP did plan to sell within the next 5 years, and her mortgage repayments for that period were much less than she might expect to have to pay if she were renting there, would it not be worth it then, whatever the state of the property and even if she sold on at a loss? (I'm rubbish at maths, so am just speculating.)

I think many of the beach-side hotels here do a deal whereby you have a day's access to beach and pool, buffet lunch and maybe spa treatment included. I think they're quite expensive, though. I know Bab al Shams, in the middle of the desert, does it and it's cheaper during the week than at week-ends. http://www.meydanhotels.com/babalshams/special.htm The evening buffet at the al Hadeerah restaurant there has entertainment which includes a "whirling dervish", though I can't remember if there's a belly-dancer there too. Other hotels you could try are the Jumeirah group hotels, the Jebel Ali Beach Resort, the Meridien Mina beach resort, the Westin, the One and Only, the Atlantis.. I'm sorry, I can't help you for the cake. You can normally get things done at quite short notice here, depending on what you want. ETA: Good luck and have a lovely time. Fabulous - what wonderful sights. Wish I could take that photo of Burj Khalifa - where do you think it was taken from? I think it may have been taken from Emirates Towers, but I could be wrong. Business Bay ladies, can you confirm or otherwise?

Safestway supermarket on SZR, however in my opinion this is a god time to tell them they don't have Kraft here and make it at home it's healthier than all that processed stuff hope you dont mind the advice http://allrecipes.com/recipe/homemade-mac-and-cheese/ Use wholewheat macaroni and real gruyere or cheddar cheese and they'll taste the difference, in a good way!

Cellfix near Volkswagen showroom on SZR are good, apparently. They are on Facebook, I've been trying their number recently myself but haven't had an answer. Perhaps the best thing to do is to go there and see. I think if you do a search on here for iphone screens or even Cellfix, you should find directions.

It would be: "His Highness' Information" because highness has two syllables. Words that end in s that have more than one syllable form their possessive like this: s' For example, Chris's cat BUT Thomas' dog Ooh, never heard that before. Interesting. Thank you.

Or tell him that IF he wants access to YOUR home then he needs to offer you a refund on the rent. I like the idea, however, is that legal?:) I wouldn't mind him paying for the cleaning of the flat! last week I was so disgusted to find black hair everywhere in the apartment after one of the visits (yuck yuck!) Send him an invoice for the inconvenience at the same time as you tell him he can only have access your home between 6 and 6.05 am every second Tuesday :(

I think I read here about someone who kept on getting tummy upsets here, even when eating home cooked food. One day, they watched their houseboy washing the dog's dishes in the same water and with the same utensils as their own dishes and cookware. All became clear and they recovered immediately..

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Cheeky Monkey. I can't remember when my periods returned, after my miscarriages, but would echo what Kathyt says, about the Miscarriage Association and about both of you taking the time to grieve for your loss. You might find you both need someone outside your marriage to talk to about it, together and/or separately. We'd have done a lot better if we'd been offered that kind of help immediately ourselves. Take your time. Be kind to yourself as well as to your husband.

Tea tree oil shampoo is said to act as a deterrent, as is lavender oil/spray. We found the tedious combing out with conditioner was the only thing that worked: it had to be repeated quite regularly for a while after finding the infestation as you needed to catch both nits and their eggs. To the OP: we didn't realize our daughter had nits as she wasn't scratching her head and we thought the white stuff we saw was dandruff, never having seen head-lice before. Our next door neighbour pointed the live louse out to us one day.. She caught it when she went horse-riding, from using a shared hat.

I wish we'd been told that the band would go on stage at about 10.30pm as we were hanging around for ages beforehand just waiting watching the same ads on the big screen. The staging was spectacular, the show was very professional, of course. The atmosphere was very pleasant, lots of families and old people like me sitting in the Grandstand area. I thought Chris Martin's voice was often off-key and too gruff for the high notes (but who am I to say, cloth-ears is my middle name ;) ). I couldn't hear many of the words properly (possibly because I don't know the songs very well and I seem to be going deaf as well as blind). My husband enjoyed it, not knowing the band at all. I was also cold, not having wrapped up enough, and I missed having a glass of bubbly to see the New Year in :) The teens we took, who were in the fan-pit, had a whale of a time. Getting out of the car-park was a nightmare, we left the concert venue at 12.30 am and spent the next 1.5hrs trying to get out of the car-park, and after that, out of Abu Dhabi, which was very busy :) Finally got home at 4am, having dropped off afore-mentioned teens in various parts of Dubai.

I don't know if this is a factor, but as I understand it, restaurants here do not serve alcohol between the hours of 4 and 6 pm, so might not be open all the time between 3pm and 8 pm. Maybe you need one of those places which does an all day buffet? Blue Orange at the Westin, perhaps? Or some of the Rotana hotels, or something on the Walk?

I heard Chris Martin saying in a radio interview that they would definitely be on stage at midnight to see in 2012, but other than the "Count Down to Coldplay" flyer which says Coldplay will ring in the New Year and that doors open for special ticket holders at 7pm and otherwise at 8pm, I can find nothing about timings or about a support group.

The Danieli is generally reckoned to be Venice's best hotel, but maybe too old-fashioned for you? We've stayed in the Europa Regina, nearby on the Grand Canal, lovely but again, probably wrong style for you. Have you searched for boutique hotels in Venice? I arrived back in Dubai at about 9 pm last New Year's Eve and the only reason I got a cab to bring me home was because of where we live, in Meadows. The roads into the city were an absolute mess, and had been since about midday, the taxi-driver told me. So, even if you don't take a room at an airport hotel for the day, I would suggest get yourselves over that way in the afternoon, don't leave it till the evening. Happy New Year!

I went past that Italian place beginning with B in the Dubai Mall today, someone posted here how deelish their cakes are but I haven't tried them yet, despite dropping huge hints for my birthday! Otherwise, got a gorgeous chocolate orange mousse cake from Shakespeare & Co for HWMBO's b'day, which went down very well.

I don't think the biscuits have alcohol in them, just almonds. The alcohol is Amaretto di Saronno, which is different. I saw the biccies in the Italian section of Galeries Lafayette's grocery area on Christmas Eve. Darned expensive, too.
