Hello to all the amazingly helpful ladies of Expat Woman. I need to buy in bulk (about 50 or so) straw or bamboo flip flops (they're going to be party favours for a beach event), does anyone know where I can find some cheaply? I tried Dragon Mart yesterday (that place is enormous!) but left empty handed (and slightly overwhelmed!) Can anyone recommend a store/area to find some? Many thanks in advance for any advice! x

Wow, thanks for all the great responses everyone! Luckily we already did an electronic Save The Date a while ago so people know to be be ón the lookout' for an invite. And we are defintiely doing email RSVP! I'll see what the costing is of Fed Ex to friends v Emirates Post and let you know what we decide to go with (it's not so much the time I'm worried about with Emirates Post, it's the reliability...) Thank you so much everyone again, this forum is great in times of need! x

Hello everyone, I recently moved to Dubai and am trying to plan my wedding in October. One step is of course sending out the wedding invitations but I find the postal system a bit daunting here. I have a PO Box to receive post at my office of course but have yet to send out anything personal (and my office would never let me use their mailing room for 100 wedding invites, lol!) So I figured I have 2 options, if you can let me know what is the wiser move I'd greatly appreciate it! 1) Send out wedding invites from here using Emirates Post. I don't mind if they get there after a few weeks but I want to make sure it's a) not too expensive and b) reliable to get there! (they're going all over the globe...) 2) Fed Ex a batch of invitations to a friend/family member in each country and have them send them from there. This could get tricky though as the invites are going to about 8 different countries and I would be calling in major favours from my future guests! So what would you do in my case, trust Emirates Post to get them there in the end (after a lengthy postal period) or bypass the postal system here and use my friends at home? Any advice much appreciated, thank you so very much in advance!

Hello everyone, I recently moved to Dubai and am beginning to plan my wedding for the end of the year. I have begun the great dress hunt here in Dubai (as I won't be able to get back to the UK before the wedding) but haven't been able to find anything in the style I envisioned (I've tried Pronovias, The Wedding Shop, and Frost Bridal) I have an idea of what I want, is it worth me going to a tailor with some pictures or is that very risky? Can anyone recommend a good tailor for this if so, or any other shops worth investigating? Very many thanks in advance for any advice!
