Sorry to be the bearer of bad news curious ann but the March 2016 opening is now not going to happen. I was informed verbally from the recruiting team. Looking like late. 2016 is the next possible opening. It's so hard to tell, opening dates have been changing since they missed the first one back in 2013. The fact they haven't asked for you to take the prometric test or get the time sensitive documents is more proof. A lot of us had completed that phase but then Sidra were told there was problems with registering us and received emails saying mobilisation of staff had stopped. So will probably have to redo all the documents at a later date when they are finally actually preparing to open.

Hi Abby, I'm a Nurse-midwife. I only heard from the recruitment agent today but I suspected it was coming as I had colleagues who received the same email 2 weeks ago. It all seems so disorganised.

I also got the notification that mobilisation of staff has been delayed with no timeframe for when it will recommence. I was told I would be part of the team preparing to open so it is clear the hospital will not be opening this year. Very disappointing, a whole year waiting on this so far. A lot of time and energy invested in it too.

I was told I only needed BLS also then apparently the regulations have changed in the new year. I also have my neonatal resuscitation course, they are happy with that as far as I know but need the ILS for adults. My understanding is that every employee in a hospital must at least have basic CPR certs as anyone can find someone collapsed. at least that is how things are where i work. the health professionals then have a higher grade of CPR skills. so we will wait and see what happens next but i am becoming more doubtful of ever getting to qatar and as for when the hospital will open... well if they cant get the staff registered to open it, an opening date is extremely far away.

I waited 10 weeks on licensing to be told I wasn't valid for registration, the council won't accept one of my certs. Sidra should have spotted this long ago.

Hi umamani Thanks for your reply. I am at the point of my documents being sent to the supreme council of health to get registered as a nurse and then visa applied for. However I was sent an email last week telling me that they would not accept my CPR certificate, the council want us all to have a cert in ILS. Did you hear this? Do you have this cert? We can't do this course in Ireland and the one in the U.k, the council won't recognise as it is not European resuscitation council approved. Just wondering how we will get past this hitch. I am still waiting on sidra to get back with an answer. I thought I might get going in the next few months but the whole thing is looking very doubtful now. :(

I was able to sit the test in my own country. Bexmacp it is a computer online test but it is sat in an exam centre under very strict exam conditions. PJ11 I would not be worried about passing it. You need to get 50% for a pass and can attempt it up to 3 times on the one fee for the exam. It is very medical/surgical nursing based. There were No obstetric questions on it for me. But it is not the type of exam you can study for. It assess your skills in assessment of care, planning of care, evaluation of care, and less so in diagnosis of condition. There was qatar embassy in my country either so I had to post my criminal record over to the UK qatar embassy. That was very simple and straight forward. If you look up the embassy website in Australia they will have a section on how to get documents attested from abroad. Hope this helps

Hi everyone, I am wondering have any nurses gone through the registration with the supreme council of health yet. I am now 2 months waiting on my registration. I was told it would take one month. I had hoped to be going to Qatar in February but we wont make that deadline now. Are any nurses at a similar stage as this? I have been informed the next stage is getting my visa and then we set the date/book flights. I had really hoped to have a date set by now, feeling disheartened by the whole process.

Katya, I want to bring my cat with me to qatar also but friends tell me I am crazy to do this. He is an indoor cat and I would keep him indoors in qatar too. Can you offer me any advice on bringing a cat over and your opinion on it please. I would really appreciate it. My advice will be to call Qatar Airways to confirm their excess baggage policy for your particular type of flight before making the final decision. I arrived on QA only last week, and I found the guidance on their website confusing. I will not bore you with details, but I was transporting my cat in a box as excess luggage, and there were discrepancies between the website and what I was told on the phone by their customer service. Good luck! Katya edited by 2nd_opossum on 07/12/2014

Hi sarh.noureldine, I am moving to qatar next year. I have a cat and I am considering bringing him with me but I am worried about how stressful the move would be on him. Can you tell me how did you find the whole experience and was your cat very stressed?

Hi Sparks33 I'm a midwife from Scotland and I've done the prometric test. You're right it is very medical/surgical orientated. I got hold of some sample tests via facebook which were very helpful. I've done all the paperwork ,just waiting for a start date. Exciting times ahead, hopefully ! Hi Solway, can you let me know which facebook page you got the sample papers from please.

Hi Abby, I have signed my agreement and onto the obtains visa, prometric test stage. Have you taken the prometric test. Little bit anxious about that as I've heard it is very medical/surgical nursing based not obstetric at all.

Hello ladies, I just want to say hello to everyone. I am a midwife from Ireland and I will being going to Doha looks like possibly in January to start working with Sidra. It has taken a long time to get this far with my application but now things seem to be really moving ahead. I will be moving over there on my own so I'm really hoping some of you will be there before me and I might get to meet people. Starting to feel a bit nervous about it all but looking forward to it. edited by Sparks33 on 30/09/2014
