I get mine done at Ted Morgan and love it, never had an issue - although my hair isn't particularly dark to start with. Price isn't that bad either and I have really long hair. Mine tends to last quite a while as I let it practically grow out before I have it done again so easily 8 months between each touch up (I think a year has been the longest). Definitely worth saving up to get it done properly. Thanks! Looks like saving up and getting it done at a reputed place is better choice.

Be prepared for lots of maintenance and do make sure you take some pictures of what results you want. I went from very dark brown to a blonde ombré and it took nearly two years to get the result I wanted. I regularly use treatments at home and with the poor quality of water here your hair will be dry. Also if you have ever had henna in your hair please let the hairdresser know, as they will test the hair before doing your whole head. I saw a lady have ombré done and lied about having used henna and her hair turn bright orange and was fried, they had to cut it off! So so true about the henna.......the first bad experience I stated earlier was due to the same reason. It was my first ever highlights... and I didn't have much knowledge like I do now .... I, like, told the hairdresser many times that I was new and when she asked me I did say I usually do root touch ups and previously used henna (that was years back)...looks like she overlooked it...during the first two bleaching processes she was like my hair's not going light but turning orange...then I guess she spoke to her manager and came back asked if I ever used henna. I was like I already told you in the beginning. She said its ok, it'll work out... and that's how I ended up with these blonde highlights, with some orangish low lights. She said it will settle out over the weeks and look nice. Well....that was the last of my experiments...went back to just root touch ups :( Just recently had a wish to experiment with ombre, but was reluctant due to my past experience.

@sarahlou123 - Wishful thinking I guess... :) I have heard about those you have listed below, especially Salon Ink. Have a few friends who have tried and recommended it....hopefully I'll save up and give it a shot later. Like you had pointed out...I do not want to get excited, rush and end up with burnt/dry hair! Have to be careful. Thks for the input, anyways!

Hi Ladies! Before I begin I must say that this is my first time posting a thread  ... and am hoping for some sound advice I would really, really like get a good Ombre done. I have dark brown skin and my hair is of a dark black brown shade. Having read through some old posts and browsing online about hair coloring disasters, I'm very reluctant to put my hair in the hands of any hairdresser. I usually get root touch ups done for greying. My first experience with highlights and low lights, around a year back, was not very good. They added blondes and something and in the end ...lets say it was not what I asked for and what I was promised will be the result :( Will anyone be able to suggest a good, inexpensive, salon that can give me some great suggestions and not mess up my hair. Thks!
