So DD is almost 15 weeks and till now I thought (and was told) how lucky we were to have her sleep 8 hours at night. She would sleep from 10 to 6 or 11 to 7. With many short daytime naps. And she would also nap only ON me during the day, but sleep in her crib in our room at night. When she wakes up in the morning, I get her to our bed because it takes her an HOUR of breastfeeding to fall asleep again. She wakes up after 1.5 hours again. And then she takes her short 45 minute naps throughout the day, longer on some rare occasions. Throughout the last week, I've started feeding her lying down in our bed and trying to make her nap there without me while I go around doing my chores. It's been a hit and miss. Sometimes she sleeps for 2-2.5 hours and sometimes she'll wake up as soon as I get up from the bed. But now that some of her naps are looking better, her night sleep has decreased and she wakes up at 4 or 5. Her last feed of the day is a formula top up and she takes in anything between 150 - 180 ml. She's breastfed on demand throughout the day. If I start putting her in bed at 8, should I give her a dream feed at 11 before I go to bed? And is there such a thing as a breastfeeding dreamfeed? Or do I have to give her a bottle? How long should I dream for if its the breast? Also she's been extra sucky-offlate (though she just doesn't take the dummy) and has started trying to put the toys that dangle from her play gym into her mouth. I know it's too early for her to teeth, but should I get that checked out too? How do you check for tiny teeth in their tiny mouths anyway? If anyone has any tips, I'd love to know. This lack of sleep and extrasuckyness has made me so drained and tired that I just broke down this morning. And then I got up, realised there was EW and came crying for help here. TIA

You're welcome AnC. I had Dr Janaki too, and she was brilliant but would have loved it if she was a little warmer for the first 2 trimesters. LOL. I think she opened up only in the 3rd trimester... I guess she could see I was freaking out a bit. And I loved her because she used to reply to any emails within the next hour.

I agree! I don't know any Indian woman who wakes up, dresses up from head to toe in jewelry and heavy sarees and still takes **** from everyone around her! Err... I think you just described the woman I magically transform into for 3 weeks in a year. I only started giving the **** back this year, though :D

Hugs to you Meals. I think you utterly, totally, completely ROCK. And to the women who are thinking of giving up at a few weeks, all I can say is that I was there just 3 months ago! I came crying to my EW girls for all the help every day. Bought nipple shields, pumps, fenugreek tablets and every other thing they make that is supposed to make it easy. Of course my delightful in-laws were there for the first 2 months telling me how I was starving my child by keeping her on my boobs that were just not capable of churning out "good milk" that would fill up DD's tummy. So yeah, that was wonderful. But now, we are down to just one top feed at night from 5-6, so trust me, it does get better. I can finally go out with just a nursing cover in the diaper bag and no formula bottles. Just keep feeding till you have the energy and top up with formula when you just cannot do it anymore. And then relax and just enjoy for baby for those moments. Believe me, it's hard enough for them to get used to the outside world from the warmth of your womb, so you getting stressed will really not help them. One thing that I think helped me most apart from the relentless feeding was to make my peace with formula and relieving the stress. It isn't bad for your baby, it's just not [i'>better[/i'> than breast milk. And very often, people around us make us forget that. I really felt better when I saw Paula Miller and she told me based on DD's weight gain at 7 weeks, that she was probably taking in 700-800 mls by then and my top ups amounted to 300. So the rest of her nutrition was from my breast milk. I was instantly relieved, the stress went off and in the next two weeks, we were down to just one top-up. In a few weeks, baby will become more efficient with emptying your breast and therefore get more milk, and then you will make more milk too. Relaxing will also help your body make more milk. Now, I love the time DD is latched on, simply because I know it's not going to last forever. I know its easier said than done, but just enjoy this time. They grow up way too soon, and you'll never get these precious weeks back. Whoever wins the battle between the breast and bottle, make sure these moments don't lose out.

u can dye granulated sugar with any colour of food colouring, but rubbing a couple of drops into dry sugar in a food bag..... Yup, did think of that as a last resort, however for the full effect of this project I'd really like the sprinkles :)

Thanks FCY... but do you remember which brand the sprinkles and sugars are in? Because I looked but they have lots of colours in one box... like hundreds and thousands. I need sprinkles and sugars in colours like yellow, red, blue, green etc. But I need a box of each. Also, I know they have the regular chocolate chips from Hersheys but I'm looking for the mini ones? ETA: Oops, sorry re-read your post again and saw that you did mention "mini" chips. Sorry, being a little fuzzybrained today. I'll have a look at Carrefour for those :) Thanks a million edited by stovetop on 12/06/2011

Hmm, I was asking because my gynaec told me that it's never gonna go away how much ever I exercise. :o She said "Get a tummy tuck after the 2nd one" LOL. On the other hand, maybe I can use it as an excuse to not wear sarees when I'm with the in laws :D

I had mine taken off about 5 years ago. Was terrified, just like you so that one of the top ones taken out first. Felt wonderfully alright, much to my surprise and galavanted off to work (was young and foolish then) even though I had a sick day. Since I was moving cities the next month, I decided to taken the rest of the 3 off in one day (was being only foolish then). The top one came off easily, one of the bottom ones came off after 10 minutes of struggle that I DID NOT feel but the last bottom one came off after a 45 minute rescue mission. Apparently, the anesthesia does not reach your jaw bone or something like that so I did totally felt the hammering that the dentist needed to do to get it out. That being said, I'm glad I did it. Felt so much better a week (or was it two?) later. Apparently this is an evolutionary change because of the difference in food (soft food) we are used to now and 10 generations later, people might not even have wisdom teeth. Our ancestors had ones that came out easily just like the other teeth because they chewed on more natural, fibrous and unprocessed food and needed those teeth. Or at least that's the story my dentist gave me :D

Lakeland opened already??? Yay!! Drumrollllllllll Oh these are the things that keep PND away :D While we are on this, may I ask if anyone knows if Crate and Barrel ever goes on sale here? There's a bunch of stuff I want and don't need and almost have no space for (but I am determined to make), so was wondering if I should wait for the sale? (because you know, 10% off might just justify it to DH) :D

There is an Indian lady called Suma from Healing Hands who I've recommended several times on here. But unfortunately one of her staff told me that her license might have expired, so don't know if she is still legal. Also, the staff she uses now might not be legal, since apparently one of them is on visit visa and another on her husband's (or something like that). So best to check all her papers before you hire her since ther eis a LOT of immigration checking in the new Dubai areas now. If you do a search on here, you will find her number.

Hi Dc, how is Baby DC? And what did you name her? :) We're getting there with head control, I think. But I've been thinking on those lines for 2 weeks now...lol. Every time she holds it up for long and I get all excited, it goes all wobbly again. I really hope it happens soon so I can plonk her whereever I am and don't need to distract her with my funny and extremely discoordinated (I know that's not a word :D) dance moves. I think the store guy told you 6 weeks because the box says so, and some kids (donno where) keep a steady head from 6 week onwards. But from what I hear from users, its fine to use from when the head holds straight.

LOL LOL LOL This thread is insane! (In a hysterically funny way) Urdu, my Pakistani boys said they never understood Hindi and vice versa. edited by Boomerang on 03/06/2011 LOL, then they were just being really daft. Or really ignorant :D BTW, Plant is not poda, it's "paudha". "Kiya" means done... [i'>what[/i'> is "Kya". Just like [i'>why[/i'> is "kyu/kyun" (the 'n' being a really faint sound unless you are Kajol from K3G) and not "kiyoon" Lol, Irooni, though I would never want this thread to end, if you are serious about this, you should call someone, hear how it sounds and write it down phonetically. Or else the gardener will just have a good laugh :D

Though my daughter is only 3 months old, I've been looking at play areas for the future. MM would have been great because of its proximity but I'm not taking her to a place where random men come in for lunch. While they might be completely harmless, I won't be able to relax completely and have a cup of coffee in peace.

While talking about gender and kids, have a read at this couple who are raising their child to be "genderless" Don't know the psychological implications on the child once he/she grows up a bit more? But I guess the parents will be ready for the "big reveal" by then. http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/babiespregnancy/babies/article/995112--parents-keep-child-s-gender-a-secret Bunch of freaks. As soon as the kid either sits [or stands'> to do its business, the secret's out. Unless one of his/her brothers tells first. ;) You know, I totally get all this unconditional love for a child, despite the gender (coming from a country where gender bias towards the boy child still exists, I'm all for the cause); but something about [b'>this[/b'> approach is just not right. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that. :D

So I made the futile trip to Za Zee Zou, only to have the superdisinterested sales lady tell me that she knows nothing of the hairbands. Though I did see some clips from a lady who could be Mrs T.
